    You talked about a k series versus a 4g63. They have very similar combustion chamber designs so does the ability to withstand knock at higher compression ratios come from the port design and it's mixing abilities?

    Liked the video. Great info. Great job. Very helpful starting point Engine Bible for beginners! Awesome. The only thing that made it hard to watch through the whole way was the editing music re-intro into a new part or subject matter. That little tune/jingle got to me. Very annoying. Man I love this. However most of it was not helpful for my 7mgte builds that are to come. the most I can really get is pistons, rods, hardware and gaskets. Maybe someday I'll have enough money to build custom engine parts for it. Got any suggestions for 500-750 whp range? I know I can squeeze 500 on stock internals but I really should go forged.

    • @realstreetperformance
      @realstreetperformance  4 роки тому

      Jonathan, what custom parts would you need? We have a lot of parts for teh 7m-GTE ... check this page out... this is the bottom end package builder for 7m-gte www.realstreetperformance.com/buildyourpackage/engine-block-package-builder?make=Toyota%20/%20Lexus&model=Supra%20MK3%2086-92%20MA70&engine=7M-GTE&clearmvge=1
      on that page you will find Pistons, Rods, Bearings, Studs, Gaskets, crank pulley, timing belt... you shouldnt need any more than that to hit 750whp ... just pair it with the right turbocharger. For that power range i recommend the precision 6466 or borg warner s366

      Michael C yeah I know, here it’s just a coincidence the higher alloy # is harder because it’s a 4000 series. Though I have no idea what’s so special about 2618 alloy for pistons- like what’s the benefit over more common soft alloys like 6061. Doesn’t have much of anything alloyed with it

    with a high compression piston, say 13-14 to 1 you can reduce the cylinder pressure by late intake valve timing ,,this involves special custom cam grinds ,or variable intake timing and lift, which is a can of worms if not done properly (how fat is your wallet?)

    What about taper wall piston pins?

    Aluminium rods have a drastically lower life than steel rods measured in several million cycles compared to steel as billions of cycles

    Forget about H beams, all builds. Without getting into metallurgy or mass, just look at the geometry: one rib to resist fwd/rear flex and two for lateral forces. This is backwards. The crank is in motion on a running engine, so absent doing something insane with timing or fuel, peak pressure happens after tdc, and any lateral rod flex has a place to unload. What is needed is more resistance to fwd/rear flex, and an I beam is the right tool for the job in staying away from a bent or broken rod.

    The day of rebuilding engines is not like the 60s and later. Especially on daily basis. Find a wrecked car as close as what you and just replace the engine especially on modern engine today with all the puter crap. Parts are so expensive and trying to find good parts is almost non exist today. We live in a throw away economy and the parts show it.
