  • This week I have been driving the 2023 Volvo XC60 PHEV Recharge on of the best plug in hybrid's of the year. It is also my favorite car I have driven so far this year.
Check out the video on ‪@PRNTestDrive‬ : • Uncovering the Secrets...
The exterior is very nice to look at with that white color the only thing that we are missing is that blacked out package. We also have the best looking rims available on this trim they are 22 inches! It has 4 sensor to lock and unlock all the doors something we do not see too often. Since this is the ultimate trim we have things like a 360 degree camera Air suspension and an upgraded sound system.
The interior is a very simple and comfortable place to spend time. All the systems are easy to use and understand the infotainment display is a little small by todays standards. The front and passenger seats both have a massage feature as well as being very adjustable.
The worst thing about the XC60 is the price and a fully loaded 90K not many people will be able to get their hands on it.

I ordered mine in Canada in December 2022 and it was delivered as promised before early June. FYI earlier models had a manual drive mode selector but it was taken out to save costs. You’ll also notice there are no fog lights on the Recharge version… to save costs. I went for a super nice beige two-tone interior which feels classy and less boring than all black. You should have mentioned the amazing sound of the Bowers (with an S) and Wilkins sound system and also the possibility to recharge the battery while driving on gas (especially on the highway). Amazing engineering job on this powertrain.

What? You ordered yours in Dec and got it in June? Lucky you!. I'm in Ottawa and I ordered my white XC60 recharge Ultimate in mid-December too. Mine, though, is still not here (as of 30 July). It is apparently "on the boat" and should be here mid-August but we'll see.... Anyway, can't wait!

All XC60s are assembled in China from parts coming from Europe and elsewhere (No Volvos are assembled in Sweden anymore). Wait time? Not sure exactly but part sourcing is a road block - especially for the batteries. I was told right off the bat it would take 9 to 10 months to get it so no surprises, I'm guessing too that the dealer's "importance" in the network might have something to do as well. My dealer is rather small compared to the big ones in Toronto and Montreal.

The XC40 and XC90 come out of the plant in Belgium, the XC60 comes out of the Chengdu plant and the S60 comes from the plant in South Carolina. You asked how long they last- so I have a 2001 Volvo V70 T5 that I've driven for 17 years (I got it off-lease, 5 years old with 65,000 miles). It now has 210,000 miles. So, they tend to last awhile. In the '70s they had 6-digit odometers, because they knew they'd last a long time. This is one of the vehicles I'm considering replacing it with. I'm just hoping they put the T8 on the V90 Cross Country soon, because that's my top choice.

I do LOVE the « B » one-pedal driving mode. I find it very well balances on my XC60. There are no such « levels » to play with. When you drive slowly around town it will bring the car to a stop easily. When you drive fast on the highway… it will slow you down more gently. It is so relaxing to use, and you save on the life of your brake pads. Well done Volvo!
