My daughter has recently bought a 2021 XC60 R Design what a fabulous car, she has the B5 with 250 bhp petrol engine, which is unbelievably quite when ticking over, but very rapid, though has front wheel drive only, so it's quite easy to get wheel spin from a standstill, it's more comfortable than the previous model XC60 which she had previously, much smoother over uneven roads, plus the fit, finish and quality are first class !
The Chinese who took over Volvo have done such a good job. Basically let the swedes do what they do best and finance it. I wish GM had the same attitude with Saab.
Saab was the most unique car maker. It’s such a shame indeed. Still enjoying my 2005 93 convertible with 158k miles and the engine is so smooth. They really made cars with safety and durability in mind first.

I definitely agree with all the comments, had the 2016 xc90 when they first launched, but road noise was too much, now have the 22 T8 XC60, much quieter and better proportions. Although mine has the air suspension on 22" wheels it's still very supple. I've never been a fan of German cars, massively over rated. Being an auto electrician I have plenty of experience working on them and they're shockingly unreliable. Wouldn't go with any other brand, Volvo are absolutely on form at the moment.
What a good review...I have just done something I thought i would never do...and that's own a Volvo .... after owning high end Mercs..BMW ,s Toyotas I have just relieved my bank of 65k for the XC60 Black Ultra . I was close to completing on a new Mercedes GLS and a friend said the 2025 Volvo is worth looking at try it...I test drove and instantly liked it better...and after 250 miles now know I made the right decision. The build quality is better the ride is better...Its a solid well made vehicle and with the 22 inch alloys a very nice thing to look at....Buying direct from Volvo as you have to do now however was not the best experience. But that is history now.
The reviews from this channel are hands down the best! You are not funny, but it’s so natural and engaging. I think you are simply the best. However, I just ask, is Matt Watson your brother?
Great and entertaining review! Coming from German only, I am thinking about Volvo for a while now; as you already said, it is probably the best looking SUV in its class, modern and smart. Coming to the interior however I have some concerns. Besides looking as clean and smart as the exterior, the "Google Tablet" and Apple Car Play with cable only(!) in 2023 is a shame (I think 99% of Volvo Drivers are iPhone users, regarding taste in design and usability) and in the end of the day, you sit in the car the most, not outside looking at it. Furthermore, in this video it looks like a very full package, crystal gear shifter, sound system, panorama roof; just why such an expensive car has a bright roof interior? And I've seen many and none of them had a black roof interior - it must exist, but I don't know in which package. For me a bright roof interior reduces the prestige and feeling of sitting in a premium car down to what's a basic Golf. - However, I would still consider a XC60 due to its fantastic looks, safety, comfort and not being overloaded with displays, however, a little bit more (and wireless Apple Car Play for god's sake) wouldn't hurt Volvo. - How would you compare it to a premium Japanese such as a Lexus NX?
Ordered one ! But .......after 25 yrs of Volvo (245,850,V70,XC70) .......the little hole in the back instead of a 25/10/25 bending-back is embarrassing !
I’ve got the B4 plus version of this and adaptive cruise (which I assume he’s talking about when he says radar controlled cruise) is standard across the range. That’s as a private buyer, maybe it’s different as a lease customer…🤷🏼♂️
Hi great review I’ve got a xc40 B4 AWD 250 hp in November I get my second service from new so I’m looking to change to a new Volvo however they don’t have AWD in the xc40 2024 so I’m now going to test drive an xc60 not sure if I want petrol which I have always had your review has helped a bit but still not sure especially what is happening with ICE but just to this car is the BEST car I have ever had so I will let you know when I purchase my new Volvo 👍
All UA-cam reviewers fail to note, the car they are reviewing is a press car, meaning , an all decked out, top of the line, all packages, all niceties included, which you cannot find on any dealership unless you order it as such from the manufacturer
As a fully committed BEV owner (I'm on my 5th over 14 years) I think I'll stick with my Skoda Enyaq IV80x with it's very quiet excellent handling & trailer towing ability. My longest journey so far was 800+ km with 1 charge.
As much as I have enjoyed the quality and reliability of a C70 for 16 years, a fantastic car which never failed me, as much as I'm absolutely not trusting the new models and bought a Lexus instead of a Volvo, few weeks ago.
Have you tried to park one at an airport for 2 weeks while you go on holiday , just saying good luck on it starting , also not as reliable as you think , talking from experience, having owned 2 of these from new over the last 13 years
My opinion - as I am still (for now) allowed to have in a democratic part of the world: Unfortunately, "Volvo Cars" is no longer Swedish - it is Chinese. American Ford (owner fom 1999-2010) sold "Volvo Cars" to Chinese Geely in 2010. And several Volvo car models sold i Europe are produced 100% in China - including some versions of XC60 (petrol hybrid?) and XC40 (Recharge Pure Electric?). Although unfortunately I quite often buy smaller things made in China (often there are no options anymore) I could not imagine buying a car "Made in China". Neither Volvo nor Geely. Europe and the US must stop providing indirect financial support to the National Socialists in China (CCP). Both for political reasons and to protect European and American jobs. We need to start treating China the way they treat us. We must end the economic advantages enjoyed by China for more than three decades. China's status in world trade as a developing country must end. Introduce equal trade rules with China - based on documented working- and wage conditions. If China wants to sell cars in Europe and the US, they should start car factories with "joint ventures" in Europe and the US, where the Chinese company only owns 49%. Because that is what China requires VW, BMW, Mercedes and others to do in China. This is one of the ways China gets free access to European technology. Volvo should never have been allowed to sell to Chinese Geely. It was a massive technology transfer that spared the Chinese a lot of industrial espionage. Naive or corrupt European and American industrial and political leaders made it possible.
Ol Karl: your message seems to be very discriminated the way how you wrote it. The brand is Swedish brand still. Is it so important who owned the brand or company? Who cares? Volvo cars are designed and tested 100% in Sweden without any interference from the Geely. For your infomation, Volvo cars are manufactured in different regions from Sweden, China, Malaysia, and etc. Please do your home works before condemning the Volvo car brand.
over 45% parts made in sweden; few % from czech republic; 1% from US and so on. I read this from a flyer one of the retailers had in his hand when showing the vehicle to me. It's same with JLR who make range rovers etc and are mainly owned by Tata India but they are left to do what they do best. Btw, US is biggest trade partner of china in case you are from the US & as per wikipedia China holds 58% of their forex reserves in USD. The best way to deal with competition is to compete!

I can't speak for the new china built ones but my near decade old S60 has been incredible I bought it years ago with 60000kms on the clock. Now it's at 200000kms and I've had very little issues. Its aged gracefully and held its value quite well. And the amount of times people have been mindblown at the features on it is insane. Adaptive cruise, active lane keeping, auto matrix highbeams, digital dash, collision avoidance and heaps more (none of its ever gone wrong surprisingly!). It's a T6 with a polestar tune so it's no slouch either. Perfect daily driver imo.

Had the new V60 T5 for 3 years ....fantastic. Will be changing for a XC60 T8.
I’m not even interested in this Volvo, but the way Howard reviewed it made me whatch the video till the very end.
We will let him know that he will be paid for this one then.
I've got petrol hybrid 350hp awesome here in France. I've got the laminated glass much quieter and keeps it much cooler in summer
