  • The NHS has announced a ban on puberty blockers for children with gender dysphoria. This week, Parliament will debate a bill sponsored by Liz Truss that would make it a criminal offence to prescribe any drugs to children for treating gender dysphoria, including in private clinics. But the story behind this overhaul in treatment began five years ago, with an explosive investigation from The Times’ Lucy Bannerman.

And if you raised this in 2019 you would have been accused of hate speech, and reported for a non crime hate incident… we reap what we sow.

Nope, the NHS has only banned in England, you can still go over the border to Wales and Scotland to get blockers. It's important to point that out.

Good job everyone at the Times. Also good job to the fierce British women on Twitter who lost jobs over this, faced constant abuse, harrassment, stalking, arrests... They've saved lives.
A painfully slow victory but here we are! 🎉

I suppose the word 'children' should help us out of this moral maze. You know, the age of consent and all that.

No explanation necessary. Kids arent good at decisions and groomers/doctors/pharma have bad motives

This example is nothing to do with Pharma. They had no hand in prescribing these drugs for off label use. This is all about the medical community being captured by a trend which has been campaigned for by a select group of pressure groups. And of course people feeling like they can't say anything negative because that might be a micro aggression or some form of "discrimination".

"Groomers". No. A very small number children really are transgender. The problem was overcorrection and political correctness, and shutting out any debate that maybe many children just had other issues.

The vast majority of doctors do not.

It sounds like esrablished medical practice (eg. only use drugs with proven effects?) & even common sense were abandoned. Trust in the competence & integrity of doctors will be hugely deminished.

As far as their future fertility goes, I wonder if maybe its not so bad if a kid that would want to take puberty blockers later finds it difficult to reproduce.

There was a time when doctors and surgeons would refuse to carry out unnecessary and potentially dangerous procedures. I recall from a few decades back a documentary about a guy who hated one of his legs and wanted it amputated. There was nothing wrong with the leg, it just bothered him to have it. He was in despair because no doctor would agree to the amputation request.
So how did it come about that doctors and surgeons today are so ready to provide unnecessary and potentially dangerous treatments for no greater reason than "I feel like it"?
I'm disturbed this ever happened and now disturbed it is not halted immediately.
If nothing else, I read every day of the dire condition of the NHS and how so many in red need of medical help are not getting it promptly. There is no time for these fashion treatments.

The Reporter has walked into a political minefield of human developmental sexuality. This subject rightly needs and deserves a full airing with sacred cows protected nor condemnations based on differing viewpoints. Men and women are uniquely different and add value to each other’s lives. This can include sexuality but is not limited to it. Additionally, there are variants from Men to Women which can and cannot matter to sexuality. The discussion in articles I am suggesting includes all of these issues. Leave no sexual rocks unturned.
I am a preacher in conservative church. The Bible is my basis. Nevertheless, even in the Bible, my preaching extends out from Jesus’ words not chaining Jesus’ words to the writings in the Old Testament nor the Letters, especially Paul. Love of GOD and love of others, even with differing views, supersedes all other teachings.
With these understandings of my perspectives, I ask:
1: Just because Doctors and Medical Science can do something, is this the sole basis it should be allowed?
2: Do Medical Groups such as NHS have any way of tabulating, prior to puberty, if a child is “born” or “naturally” oriented?
3: Has NHS ever truly studied sexual abuse below the age of 18?
4: Are their risk factors to sexual abuse, such as parental substance abuse; childhood exposure to substance abuse; divorce/divorce cohabitation/divorce remarriage; foster care/adoption; and boarding schools?
5: Are underage persons who were sexually abused Gay or Straight Confused in sexual orientation?
6: Why are early periods in Women deemed something to block?
7: Does sexual reassignment surgery solving an individual’s problem or is therapy better solution?
8: Do all children need to be DNA tested at birth?
9: Do all people getting married or people planning pregnancy need to be DNA tested for risk compatibility?
None of these questions is a judgement. Our society may have problems which it long ignored. Acceptance of your self and your acceptance of others is a given in each case. For example, I have counseled my own son never to take advantage of a woman passed out. I also asked him to consider if such a woman is worthy of his love. Likewise, if I spoke to a Gay man, and someone he met had to use X before making love, why? Are the really Gay and a potential love interest, or Straight Confused covering up childhood abuse with drugs? It is always a great ask by a Preacher to get people to be the best versions of themselves. It’s always WWJD when YOU have the power to make the call.
