I use Motul oil in my F650 BMW with 22,000miles on it, sure dont come out that color, after 5000 miles still looks golden. What adjustment was needed on the valves?. Still not convinced about quality of build to buy one yet.
All the valves were just a bit tight. Very consistent. I bought my first Enfield, a Himalayan, 2 years and 24.000 miles ago. I've rode it hard and dirty and she's worked very well, no problems. Currently Enfield has a 3 year unlimited mile warranty on new bikes. I intend to test this bike and that warranty by really putting the miles on this Super Meteor. We will see how she does. Wahoo!
A whole lot more room to get the valve cover off than the other Enfield 650s. The oil did its job, nice and black. Also a good choice of oil going in, I use Motul mineral oils when running-in a new engine or new top-end. Enjoy the "Indian Summer" weather, you will notice that the gearbox is silky smooth by about 500 miles now that the good stuff is providing lubrication.
Heyup from Steve in UK. Great video short and to the point. I’m running the SM650 and got about 1800 miles on her now great bike rear suspension easing up now much better. Don’t forget the tyre pressures are opposite most bikes.
I just got my 1st service done. Adjust valves…most a little tight…oil and filter..dang was that factory filter on tight…and I also added a Fuel X lite to it….take it out tomorrow morning and hopefully it adjusts the fuel mapping….all in all not to hard for everything..wahoo!!
@@forgottenmotorcycles It was simple to hook up…watched a video on it on UA-cam of course….plug and play It seemed to make a sound difference…I do have Rhino Racing mufflers on without db killers….took it out for a 20 mile spin…ran excellent
I had loads of trouble with the rocker cover seal when re-asembling.. in the end i had to fir the seal into the cover itself and try and hold it in place while positioning. Why cant they make a place for it to sit in the cylinder head.. it would make life far easier..
Great videos.. keep them coming. I have a celestial SM650 myself. Looking to fix mid mount footpegs but can't seem to figure out how and where to mount them. Could you do a separate video on this please Cheers
Adjusting the valves on my Triumph 1965 TR-6 are very easy to do. All of today's motorcycles should be hydraulic valve adjustment like my Sportster. All bikes should also have a rear belt drive.
I hope you can do the maintenance video for the Royal Enfield 650 super meteor too. It probably will be very similar but it's the bike I have and I'm looking around for videos on that.
Baxter Cycle put the pannier racks and Givi bags on this bike before selling it to me. So far, I like them a lot. Bags are keyed to come off easy. I took them off to make working on the bike easier. Loving it!
@@forgottenmotorcycles honestly looks so easy with all that extra room to get at the tappets. The new Himalayan 452 Sherpa engine has foregone the tappets for shim in bucket design.
I too am still not convinced of their build quality yet. I'm not a big fan of the looks of the engine. Reminds me of a squatted toad. The engine is anemic on power also. 47hp on major American highways to me is not enough. I'm thinking at least 75 - 80 hp? Thanks for sharing. That oil looks way too dark for 300 miles. I would have changed it as soon as I got home from the dealership.
@@forgottenmotorcycles yes. check with re. also on the windows at the clutch cover you have 2 markers. the oil level in warm engine condition have to be at the top marker. 3.5 liter 10w50 synthetic oil.

I have ridden mine 3500 miles, through floods, storms, pothole dirt tracks. No issues at all. Its a very solid sturdy bike.

Thanks. You are right about that gearbox. Enfield really hits it out of the park with this 6 speed. The more I ride it the better she works. Wahoo!
Weather has been fantastic. Looks great!
November has been good for motorcycle riding...so far!

Loads of fun. At about 1000 miles now with about 1000 miles of ride planned for next week already. Wahoo!
Great video. But can you show how to adjust Theo valves, and how to conect te feul tank black together again?
Will try to get that done next valve adjustment.

It should be easier next time. Learning curve?
Did you get a workshop manual? Where did you get the specs from for clearances and torque?
I got all the specs from my Royal Enfield dealer.

I think Hitchcock's sells midmont foot pegs for this bike. Should come with the directions on how to mount them. I'll look into it
How much adjustment did the valves need?
Not too much. All were just a little tight. Easy bike to work on. Wahoo!
Thanks for making this video

Noted!
In Brazil this 650 has not yet arrived! We are waiting to purchase one!
Beautiful motorcycle. You will love it!
What bags are you mounting?
Givi, not sure of the model. Will try and do a video on those later. Wahoo!
Cannot get over the color of the oil Fuzzy. I notice pannier racks.
You must of added that Smooth ride into your man cave. Pannier bags for Christmas?

Neatest thing I ever witnessed, oil change and tappet adjustment and when you are done your bike turns red ♥️
Right?!

I am surprised that a modern motor needs valve adjustments. Should have hydraulic lifters that never need adjusted.
That would be nice. Auto industry made the change decades ago.
