- A lightweight (60lb) match. Unfortunately for K2's first fight at RoboGames 2015, the battery was not putting out full current. As a result, the bot could not drive and spin the weapon at the same time very well. #RobotCombat
all i could think was poor gopro getting hammered
+Elvin love joy Gopro likes to talk about how tough their camera's are, but can they stand up to some battlebots. That is the question.
Castle ESC, unmistakable beep sequence.
Lol holy crap, it's a thwack bot! They do still exist!
Nathaniel Satterfield Herr is an old bot.
Nathaniel Satterfield its more like a meltybrain except uses something called a tornado drive which has external sensors
perfect for those battles where you want to do zero damage, lose, and bore the audience!
+daggius
Actually, Herr Gepounden was one of the few that could do at least some damage (probably because it's a 30lb chassis with a 30lb sledgehammer bolted on XD).
daggius you missed both twrex who wouldve worked as a melty, and death by translation. Theres also nuts 2 who does win and is a weird favorite for some reason
Also herr is a very old bot.
Cool to see a Comedy Central era bot still competing, at least at the time of this recording.
I can't help but think things would have gone better if the blade started spinning sooner, but presumably the driver had their reasons
Still respectable!
Wait people still make "thwack" bots?! I thought they went out of fashion/obsolete years ago!
Angelo Sincioco its more like a meltybrain, using something instead called a tornado drive, but its still an old bot.
Herr gurpoundin has been around a while
They're not entirely obsolete in Antweight at least, in my opinion. Square-Cube law just really works against them anywhere above that.
@@Aethelia And then Nuts 2 surprised EVERYONE in the Tenth Wars. The other thing is that you'll not see them in Battlebots anymore because of their requirement of some powered weapon. I could see someone incorporating a thwack-bot element as part of the body as a defense, but you'll never see it as a main attack method again. Not in that competition, at least.
This was one of the pioneers of the meltybrain thwack bots
Ok, first off nice robot. Secondly, could you make a bot that had a horizontal spinner that only had a cutting tooth on one side but balanced. I think that would be pretty awesome. Keep up the good work, Peace
Seth Henson Lets translate this comment. "This is not the way I would have built a Robot, but ahhh good work anyway."
As for myself I think the horizontal spinner been done before and is not as entertaining to watch as your vertical spinner. Its awesome to see your robot flip robots out of the ring!
Pierre B The advantage of a vertical spinner is that it hurts on the up, then it hurts on the way down.
Pierre B comment didn't need to be translated it was already in english
R.I.P. Robogames
finaly.. im waiting for this
but k2 still the top killing machine
Who won?
***** Herr Gepounden won by judges' decision.
de wnnknnnnnnjyw
megablablatruch it was k2
TeamVelocity man that's sad. Batteries always fail when you need them the most, don't they...
Why you do hate Robogames these are not going out for a few
Err... tough defeat...
Sounds like a lawn mower got loose in the arena lol....looks like one too
seems to be the perfect hobby for Elon Musk
Gtifighter Elon is a dick, he would get blacklisted from these events faster than you could complete a PayPal transaction. There are unspoken rules in these events which include being nice to other builders.
With Elon's ego that would likely be impossible for him. That being said this is actually a sport/hobby which has always been on edge of being endangered with the biggest US event (Robogames) recently having announced that 2018 might have been their last one so if Elon decided to host an event or give funding for a Heavyweight arena I would be absolutely thankful, and so would many Roboteers.
@@chdreturns calling him a dick and asking to host an event in one post is sure way to win :)
