Econ Ecoff If I remember correctly, robots without an active weapon were banned at one time because they weren’t very entertaining to watch. I believe that the plough can also lift (that’s certainly the case in later versions of the same robot). Although the robot is predominantly a pusher, the small amount of lift that the plough can give is often enough to get some of the opponents drive wheels off of the floor. Less wheels on the floor means less traction and/or less steering capability. This is a huge advantage to a pusher bot. Obviously there’s a huge down side to to fork bits and you pointed that out perfectly.
Dude, why the heck didn't they stop the fight when told to? These are both highly experienced roboteers, I'd think they would recognize the danger and importance of listening to the refs.

They want to bring in the wwe sort of crowd, and it typically leads to more consistantly entertaining fights which is what they chose instead of having the occasional chance of having static wedge vs static wedge.
They ARE! Wedge bots consistently win against non-wedge bots, which, if you allow robots with just good wedges on them, leads to a system of JUST wedgebots. Do you have any idea how boring it is to just watch two bots with no weapons push each other, much less all of the bots in the tournament be those push bots?
Parallaxus fun fact, its not just wedge bots. And to me its boring if the wedges are slow or theyre unskilled. and no it doesnt, if thats the case original sins record would be completely flawless, as it has one of if not the best driver of all time. Also there should be an active weapon rule on tv, its tv, i understand that, but the season 2 rules leave only spinners as things that kill spinners (bots like sewer snake/stinger and beta being the only exceptions) lose because shoving, and if they lose their weapon they better hope that the opponents weapon doesnt touch them for most of the fight, or they lose.
Can you imagine how boring a fight like Whoops v Whoops would be. Two boxes bumping into each other doing nothing for minutes on end. So good to see boring bots like Whoops loose to interesting bots like Touro. I wish you HAD to have an effective weapon to enter. Duck is just as bad. Whoops can't really win anything its dependant on the other bot losing which is super lame.
Whoops is dependent on the impact of it hitting the other robot. If a spinner hits something too hard, it hurts the spinner which is what whoops' main strategy is.
@@howlongismydesign Exactly its dependant on the other guy losing. A bot should able to attack as well which makes it a much more interesting and actually effective. Like Bigger Brother from robot wars. Two bigger brothers up against each other would be a good fight, two whoops would be boring. Even though Whoops has a clever strategy for a bot in theory it's like winning a sword fight by waiting for the other guy to die of old age rather than by ability. Not very chivalrous
The NERC 30 pound "Sportsman" Class requires that robots have an active weapon. KE spinners are also banned. (Sawblades are not considered KE spinners.) It has some quite interesting designs and good fights.
W should have rammed TM at full speed. Tapping spinners won't do it. You have to make them fly via their own power to have a chance. Otherwise, they'll just grind you down bit by bit. Ramming is hard on your own bot, but if want to win against spinners, there's little other choice other than hope their batteries fry or spinner jams, but that's only gives you about a 10% chance of victory. (Their spinner dying doesn't guarantee you a victory alone.) Ram or lose.
Ryan, If you ram 2 bots together quick, something is going to break on at least one fairly soon, even if it's not the main weapon. A spin bot has more things to break than a ram-bot, giving the ram-bot better odds. And the ram-bot has more room to pad its guts because it has no weapon to wire up.
"STOP THE FIGHT!"
Touro: "nah.."
