Well done @HonestYouthPastor Especially appreciated the pushback you gave on importance of Early Church history. Super important.
Someone comes to a Bible debate using the NLT 😅😅
🤣 The first clue to me that he was going to get cooked!
Egalitarianism is probably the single biggest threat to the church right now. Not only that but it is also impossible in practice. If I want my child to go to school A and my wife wants the child to go to school B, after time for prayer and talking about it and research we still disagree. Where ought the child go to school? School A.
I think sometimes we get so bogged down in textural criticism that we lose the entire spirit of what was being said. God established and holds to a particular hierarchy / order and if you have to jump through this many hoops to confirm a position that goes against the prevailing direction of the word / church, you might want to rethink your position at least a little.
Great discussion. The one guy though, kept back tracking and contradicting himself. He'd tell Michael, I only use the word of God, but discusses the backing of what was going on in the church or Ephesus. He was doing what he was accusing michael of doing. Then he said he's not trying to push a point, just understand the truth of scripture, but when michael would try and show him context of things, he quickly dismissed it. Again, good debate but this shows a huge error that people are holding their views over the word of God. But using the word of God to back their views. Everyone is so focused on women not being preachers or teachers over men, and forget in Titus, women have a ministry over other women and children. We also women can correct men at home, look at Priscilla and Aquila, Acts 18:24-26. And again in 2 Timothy 4:19. Women teach other and children, and share the gospel with others and even correct their husband's if their husband's understand the gospel or even step out of line with the word of God. 1 Corinthians 7 also shows that. By focusing on women not being preachers or teachers over men, you take away the ministry for women and down play vital roles they do play.
So true!
I am also a bit agitated at how @HonestYouthPastor derailed the discussion to talk about the nature of NT vs OT prophecy. Not helpful to the discussion. One can argue that prophecy and teaching are distinguished in the NT, thus the Bible allows for women to prophecy yet not to teach, without getting into that.
I have to be honest, while @HonestYouthPastor had some good points and he did win the debate when it came to biblical truth, he was severely lacking the confidence and boldness I would expect from a person convinced of a position. I am thankful for the position of @HonestYouthPastor but his timidness is not a good representation in debate.
Anyone else Team Patriarchy?
Shout-out Crucible
How about Biblical patriarchy?
Unfortunately we’re not able to represent every single view within every debate. You can expect a debate with a patriarchy supporter soon.
Please try to get Andrew Wilson for that!
We just recently had Jared longshore on to discuss :)
Is Pastor Humor an actual pastor? His ability to actually handle scripture is embarrassing. He gave many untruthful arguments and did not ground anything he argued for in the biblical text. Just personal opinions. He was cooked in this debate.
