Yes, the cheers and the happy looks on their faces when the explosion happened! Yay! Then the slowly growing looks of horror as things progress. We all felt the same!
@@Gurgio It's honestly so brilliant. I've seen some reviewers talking about the first couple of episodes following a lot of common tropes - Street urchin main characters, a stern adoptive father with a dark past, evil guy with an evil eye - but that's the thing: It's all intentional. Because we know these tropes from other movies and tv shows, we expect the story to go a certain way. Powder realizes she has the hexcrystals, her and Vi have talked about her bombs never working but that they will one day, she's had trouble keeping up with her crew and has been left behind for her own safety. How could it go any other way than Powder saving the day at the last second? Of course that's what's gonna happen. And then realism hits like a truck. She's an amateur tinkerer, a child, and has no clue how potent the hexcrystals are - OF COURSE there's gonna be a bunch of collateral. It's introducing people into a new world with familiar tropes, and then when people start to get comfortable you subvert them in the most ruthless way possible. As in literal child death. 10/10 first act, it's so cleverly executed from a story perspective. And that's not even talking about the gorgeous animation and score. The strings during the explosion scene and "Goodbye" during the outro, oh my god...
yeah ...at first when the bomb go Boom in the beginning. everyone who watch this show go like "ํYeahhhhhhhh" but than the moment later it go like "Oh fuk...."

I think Silco kinda orchestrated this by manipulating powder. when Grayson dies the other enforcer which is Marcus were left to deal with the undercity. in later episodes Silco did tell Marcus to kill Vi but instead Marcus just imprisoned Vi. but maybe Silco did symphatized with powder
In particular, it's incredible how well structured the writing is. Every single step along the way is probably, believable and compelling on top of that. By the time the entire world is different, we look back and understand how we got here, even if we can't believe our eyes.
@@douglaswalker7707 I don't think so. I think he didn't have the grip. Look at his eyes (eye) in that moment. Personally, I think he would have killed Silco right there if he could. To protect his children.

I love how they set this up so vi and powder could both feel angry at each other and both could feel as if they were doing the right thing in the moment and that the other was wrong. They just had different perspectives of the situation and both had imperfect information which caused friends to get killed.
Not really. I’m not a psychologist, but Vi will feel that she needs to make up for leaving Jinx and will do anything to find her in the future. On the other hand, Jinx will hate Vi for leaving her, however she knows the reason is that she killed everyone and it’s her fault. So she will hate mostly her self and will probably avoid Vi. Hating your self or feeling guilty can lead to self destructive tendencies which Jinx is probably going through. TLDR Jinx will probably hate her self more than Vi.
I have the same reaction when Vander is nearly killed by Silco. That scene was a rollercoaster! It went from "Yes! Vander! Kill them!!" to "No! Vander!! Silco, you f*****g coward!". Then "OMG! Vander is still alive! Take that s***! Take it and kill'em!". And crying my eyes out at the end. He was the best! I did't want him to die! 😭
@@tinyphreak I did and I hope he is Vander. But a part of me is wishing that the Warwick thing isn't real. I like Vander the way he was before. Like a caring, good, badass father figure.
I know they finished this show, but... Even from my first watch, I saw Silco's shocked expression when Powder hugged him. Just look at his face, he's completely dumbfolded. Like: "WTF...? She's hugging me...? What is this I'm feeling...? Tenderness?! EMPATHY, since it's the same that happened between Vander and me?!? SHIT, I was going to manipulate her, but now how THE FUCK do I react to THIS?!?!" So... he embraces her. HE understands.
Ive seen people be like "why did she hit powder". Because she killed her friends and only father figure right as they were about to escape. I love how real of a reaction it is, how frustrated angry and in shock Vi feels. But you also feel bad for Powder as well of course.
And he didn't kill her right away just so he could know where Vi is so he can kill her too (sorry for bothering you, but the fact that people often miss it makes me feel so bad😭)
Powder only had Vi. She Needed Vi For affirmation and comfort the same way she put a lot of care to her little tin dolls. It hurts her to be left out by Vi as shown by how she reacted when she was left at home when they went on the rescue. When Vi she drew blood from powder after striking her VI decided to relieve some stress because she was afraid she might physically hurt powder even more. She did grow up on violence so she is aware of her nature to resort to violence to release some stress. To Vi she just needed some space to calm down. But to powder she felt abandoned. Abandonment is powder's fear and when Marcus took VI away powder can only tell silco: "she left me", embracing the closest person she could find for comfort. Can't really blame powder. She's been told by Mylo that she is not good enough to be coming along with them. Vi make her feel the same way when she told her to stay at home. She wanted to prove that she can ride with the gang.
As much as everyone wants to hate Marcus and Silco in the ending scene...the fact is, there was no other way for Vi and Powder to survive. . If Vi had gotten back to Powder, Silco just would've killed them both. Powder would've immediately clung to Vi, and Silco can't kill Vi in front of Powder and expect her to trust him...and Vi would never trust Silco anyway. So he'd be forced to kill them both, because he can't let them live to plot revenge. . So, Marcus really saved both their lives. And Powder...welll...you'll find out.
THIS is how you subvert expectations... Unbelievably, Mia Sinclair Jenness, the 16 year-old voice actress who voiced Powder managed that final scene in just two takes - and the director kept the first one. Amazing talent.
SCREW ME IT WAS SO OBVIOUS. The childish bombs, the blue hair, the "half the person she is at your age" of course it was her. I was like, "Oh cute she's an engineer" and then the "Jinx" is dropped.
