The comments gonna be interesting this vid lol. Just remember we dont know anything about LoL and have no connections to these characters beyond this show. These are in the moment immediate reactions lol. Let the war in the comments begin!
I remember seeing a comment I liked from another video: “This show is so good because it allows characters to fail because of their virtues rather than their faults.”
this show is so good because there is always consequences for every little action and they are not ignored. also realistic reactions to those consequences that don't make you feel like the characters are just acting but really living the struggle of their actions and not knowing how to fix them.
That is such a good description. And it bothers me that that's what others blame the characters for rather than their cause and intentions. Not that it's bad all the time, but when it happens alot it gets cliche and lazy to an extent.
It's the same thing we saw in Game of Thrones I. The first 4 seasons. There were consequences to characters actions. Characters virtue or moral often got their heads chopped off.
Powder knows just enough about gadgetry and explosives to be a massive danger to herself and to others. Add in how young she is (how young all of them are) and how Powder already had trauma and mental problems even before all this happened, and you have a recipe for disaster. I don't blame Powder for wanting to help, to try and prove herself. And I don't blame Vi for losing control and striking her. I understand where both sides are coming from, which is what makes this all the more tragic.
And powder was probably already feeling like Vi gave up on her before she "left." Vi told her she was ready for the missions but she messed it all up. And then she overheard Vi's convo with Mylo and didn't hear the end. So she probably thougt all 3 of them thought she was incapable. And then on the most important mission Vi tells her to stay put. She probably thought she didn't have any faith in her anymore. Vi calling her a Jinx, validating her fears, and walking off was just the final straw.
@@monster-enthusiast Indeed. And Powder has legitimate skill and talent with gadgetry and explosives. With time, training, and practice, she could be incredible. But Vi and the rest of their little gang/family literally cannot give those things to her; almost every day is a struggle just to survive, and Powder is essentially dead weight that they probably would have already left behind if not for her being Vi's sister. We've also seen how Powder appears to have an almost pathological need to be need and accepted. Let's not forget: she's a young child, probably six or seven years old, who has already been deeply traumatized by the deaths of her parents and the violence of the world around her. She didn't go to the mission to rescue Vander as some part of revenge ploy against the 'mean kids.' Powder legitimately wanted to help and show them that she could be useful. And after the audience and the characters in universe repeatedly told her to make her bombs work...Powder made them work. Be careful what you wish for...
@@samseison a damaged, traumatized 7 year old with access to explosives and gadgets, with just enough minimal knowledge to craft an explosive and a psychological and emotional need to be accepted and prove she's not useless. Just a tragedy waiting to happen.
She also didn't know Silco was the one who kidnapped Vander. If she wasn't in the state of mental breakdown she probably could have figured it out though.
@@Orapac4142 yeah I assumed it was clear that she didn’t recognize Silco as literally the guy who kidnapped Vander. But I guess it wasn’t so clear to everyone
I’m not saying powder was right but also keep in mind, that she was always taught to keep pushing it until she could keep up with her friends. Plus even you guys were rooting for powder to blow up that guy, it’s just most shows don’t show the negative effects of the hero on the good guys. Most shows have friendly fire off and this one had it on which just makes it all the more realistic
Also, if her bomb didn't kill them then Deckard probably would. I mean, the door was almost down, and even if they managed to get away I think he could easily chase them down and kill them with the drug boost on his body. The end result likely wouldn't be very different.
Ya, the proper way to see the situation is that each person's response was human. There were many points up until the explosion where everyone was on the verge of dying. Only until the metal door was closed and the monster was moments away from getting through did Powder pull her stunt. In her mind everyone was dead if it got through. It just so happened she made everything way worse. Her actions made sense for a kid and Vi's reaction was completely understandable
see at first i was like yeah use the bomb then i saw her put in 2 and im like oh its gonna be even stronger then i sa he third on th front and new that was too much
This. Like how reactors say people are quick to switch in the show, they too are quick to switch and just go "fuck powder". Whether powder stayed or not i think people would still hate her, Like just from ep1 i see reactors not liking her because she threw the loot to escape, like she a child bruh. lmao
I feel like this editor has influenced a lot of reaction channel editors cuz Imon_Snow and Blind Wave have joke edits that "feel" the same roughly around the same time too
I loved how Silko's reaction to powder probably was genuine. He took her in not only because she is an asset, but also because he feels for her. They went to almost the same shit, feeling betrayed by their sibling. Also everything that happened was so believable. No Characters action felt like it was written in for plot reasons or put characters in a certain light. It was just a really tragic turn of events.
If you notice back in Ep1, when the cat gets attacked he even flinches, while Singed didn't. He still has some amount of empathy, and a distressed child would probably really pull at that bit left in him.
Speaking as Powder's unqualified lawyer, I ask that you take into account that my client is probably a pre-teen with a psychosomatic disorder. She had to witness her dead parents at a young age, and for a good portion of the series, she has been seen as nothing but a burden to most. On top of that, from her POV, she believes her only blood relative has abondoned her. While neither my client or I ask for your forgivness, for her crimes and change of who she supports, we do ask of you for your empathy for a lighter sentence. Curiously speaking to anyone that reads this. What sentence would you give Powder?
Roshi in the right when it comes to Powder and her character. Girl just wanted to try and help. Imagine if it was a story where that WORKED. That's what we're used to. When they finally get to have their "moment".This, unfortunately, is the story where the plucky girl who likes to make things fucks everything up and gets harmed and abandoned by the only family she had left. Obviously, Powder fucked up huge and that'll be something she lives with forever. I think our own personal guilts and the trauma done to us through our own mistakes is punishment enough sometimes.
Let's also not forget she was just the plucky girl, she was the already semi sheltered damaged girl. She saw her parents laying dead after a riot (and may have seen the violence first hand), grew up in the absolute worst part of society what with all the violence, crime, danger, etc in the undercity, having Vi protect her from as much responsibility as she could. Let's also remember when she was chased her attempt at getting away was to try and make a NAIL bomb. She wasn't well in the head before this. The feeling of being a useless fuck up, then thinking you have a way to ACTUALLY help, THEN have those feelings destroyed and replaced with a validation of the feeling like a fuck up because now you just caused the deaths of your friends and family, be hit by the last person you have left and think they abandoned you? She got fucked right up. That and she didn't know who Silco was either. If she wasn't having that breakdown she would have figured out who he was, also probably would have gotten stabbed I bet.
And tbh, since she’s only a child, she’s always being told back and forth that she’s not ready but then she’s ready and all of a sudden she’s not. It messed with her head and she really has no one to talk to about her problems causing her to have breakdowns.
Facts. She meant well, and she was constantly pushed by her peers to do better and finally make something that works to help everyone. Before Powder saw what actually happened she was probably imagining how much everyone would respect and congratulate her on helping. Proving Mylo wrong, getting praise from Vander and Vi, being seen as valuable and equal to the team/family. She had lots of hope riding on that catastrophe.
Imagine this, she put the monkey bomb in but it doesn't go off. Vi and co now go to the hole Claggor made with Deckard busting through the door (which he was almost done doing). First they have a 2 story drop, second Vi and Vander had the shit beat out of them and aren't in the best shape to be sprinting, and third, we know Deckard is fast AF. There is a non-zero chance Deckard would have still killed them all.
@@revival9313 and she didn't know she'd kill them and wasn't trying to. And that's the whole point of the writing. No matter how good your intentions are, no matter how heroic you are trying to be, it doesn't mean things will work out or go the way you think they will. In another story this would have worked, and powder would have saved them, killed decker and destroyed the ability to have more Shimmer made and we'd cheer. But friendly fire was turned on, so now we have people saying a damaged 7 year old with a bunch of issues that was trying to do the objectively right thing deserves to die.
@@Orapac4142 true, but if it is the 4 of them vs Deckard, it would still be an interesting fight. imagine Vander in fighting condition putting everything on the line to protect the children that would have been an epic fight.
It’s interesting seeing people’s reactions to what Powder did. A lot of people react like Vi; angry at her and blaming her for not following instructions. In the moment it can be hard to remember that Powder is a child who has serious abandonment issues and trauma even before this event and it informs so much of what she does. She wants to be loved and included and useful. She was excited to help and prove herself and had no way of knowing that everyone was about to escape. In her eyes Decker was about to slaughter her family, of course she would do everything in her power to try to save them. Idk. I think it’s easy to just be angry at Powder and on some level it is justified since it is her fault, but the situation is way more nuanced and complicated than “Powder killed her whole family so fuck her”.
The community also exists on the flip side of that coin, crucifying Vi for releasing anger - especially for slapping powder - even though her entire family structure was just killed in front of her. And this is after she knew that it was her fault Vander was kidnapped in the first place and her fault for arranging the theft that started this whole thing. Vi, for still being a child, was shouldering so much only to be faced with this tragedy. And then she found out her own sister did it. OF COURSE someone her age with anger issues would lash out. Tell me to my face anyone in these comments hasn't lashed out at their family members for less. And, no, she did not abandon Powder (but it's understandable that Powder assumed so) - she did exactly what she should have, which was distance herself from the situation to calm down and regain control of her emotions. And she had the sense to do this while still struggling with the overwhelming sadness and hopelessness that she was surely feeling in the moment. It's just a bad situation that the location wasn't safe and that villains were still nearby. Ultimately, sides shouldn't be taken - neither Powder nor Vi should have to shoulder the blame for this tragedy, as it was a chain of events alongside dozens of peoples' choices, mistakes, assumptions, and machinations that led to this. And yet both of these children have to live with it. We don't. So people shouldn't be trying to blame one of them; we should be trying to empathize with them to understand why and how this event shapes the next 5-10 years of their lives.
I mean this channel is literally the first one I've seen that crucified Powder. Everyone else was pretty understandable that she's a not-mentally-functioning kid who couldn't see what was happening so she just acted on impulse. And I've been keeping tabs on a few channels lol. Always....this one and RTV that has unreasonable expectations of characters. Like with Korra in LoK or how Jean was supposed to be 100% ready to kill humans in AoT. I remember them and RTV riding his ass
@@krismarshall3803 I think they don’t understand the concept that people can be mentally unstable and thus can do things irrationally, the world is not black and white but shades of grey
I don't understand why people wouldn't be understanding of the situation, cause in all fairness, when monster dude was rampaging it wasn't looking good. People be lying to themselves if they say that they didn't want the bomb to go off on the bad dudes. When the toy almost didn't give it the final clap, people always hold their breath. Theoretically seemed like a fair plan. When the outcome happened I felt more awkward for the girl than anything else. Like, oof. You throw a bomb in the enemy's face and they live but your people don't? imo that's some uber bad luck. If it happened in-game people would call it a game-breaking bug.
Idk why people have such unrealistic expectations over the situation with powder😂 powder have issues we all know that and so we should understand why she didnt listen to Vi and wanted to help. And how is she supposed to know every single detail on whats happening inside the door? How can she know that claggor was opening a hole? All she saw was deckard trying to break the door and she felt she might do something to stop him and help her friends and her sister. But nah u guys expect powder to just be completly out of character and be the perfect little girl who listen.
yes ikr, this is what people don't understand, and like dude above said: this people are just use to series where everything goes perfect and good for the Main characters, but then they find this kind of series, and this Lupa guy just throwing hate without even trying to understand the whole situation.
You’re heated. But we know Roshi, Lupa and Shira to be blunt/unfair. It’s all laughs. No character is safe from criticism and in this case it’s Powder. It’s sad that Powder is written to be so tragic. It breaks my heart that such a young soul can’t seem to do right. But she killed people.
Should have stayed her asss home. Idc when in situations like that u listens to ur older sibling. If my fam was going to a shoot out and im told to stay home guess what im doing
it's a fucking traumatised orphaned kid with serious mental health issues and her plan was good in theory, at the end she didn't just "flip" she is insanely dependent on someone else to validate and appreciate her (when vi left her home she literally had a separation anxiety attack) Silco saw both a talented kid and himself in her (he was also "betrayed" by his older sibling and had to live on) and offered her exactly what she wanted appreciation, affection and empathy.
I feel like we all need to know most of us probably would’ve acted like powder in this scenario. Our family is in danger, trapped in a room with a monster trying to break down the door and we can’t see or hear what they’re doing on the other side. All we know is that magic rocks go boom and boom destroys things, so maybe it can blow up the monster. Also Powder is a kid and as a kid we usually don’t consider consequences until after the actions themselves. So in Powder’s mind(the mind of a child) she probably doesn’t stop to consider that the bomb could blast through the door as well as the monster, and even if she did, like I stated earlier she doesn’t know what’s happening on the other side so she could easily figure that the bombs are better than nothing as I think most of us would.
I do question why she used all of them. She realizes that the giant explosion that almost killed her and her siblings was caused by those rocks and she took most of them. She is still very young and desperate for her family, but why all of them?
@@x0gucx I’m pretty sure they were used to power up the monkey. As we saw in other episodes none of her inventions worked(probably because they lacked a decent power source). So the one that was hit repeatedly was used for the main explosion but the other stones were probably just used to give the monkey extra energy and power because it was really just a windup toy.
@@x0gucx You make a fair point, but looking back the explosion itself didn't even kill anyone! Vander and the kids were injured from the resulting debris, and Silco's crew that we saw were knocked out at the very worst.
Everybody :"powder do something" Powder :*did something Everybody :"why the fuck would you do that" Powder :"wait a minute , this whole operation was your idea"
@@Doritochi she didn't know how strong the explosion would be. Also, she's like 7/8. She knew she had a bomb and could blow up the bad guys to save her family. In the mind of a child it's perfectly understandable why she did it. I'm not saying it's great and I agree that she should have stayed home, but why would she have?
@@Justin-gz3cp Oh I'm not saying what she did doesn't make sense for her character, it makes perfect sense. I'm just saying that the excuse people make for her using it, is the exact reason why she shouldn't have used it. She literally didn't know what it did. It could have done **anything**. It could've blown up half the undercity for all she knew. My point is the Vi was right, she wasn't ready and she should've listened. Especially when Vi took her on the missions before even when noone else wanted her to come. Vi thought she could handle those missions, even when she couldn't. But this mission specifically she said no on, and Powder should've listened to that.
@@Doritochi Dude she's just a child stop treating her like she can contemplate shit that she can't at her age. Powder did nothing wrong (with context included). Even the creators of the show set this up. Look at Ep. 1 dialogue between Vander and Vi foreshadowing the situation. He explains to Vi how as a leader, people will try to help her no matter what and that what happens is her fault - although I don't blame Vi either, point is it's grey and saying Powder shouldn't have used the bomb is ignoring key elements of her character such as her age and ambition to do good after all her failures plus her ambition to save her leader/sister figure Vi. Also Vi isn't right in saying that she "wasn't ready" because the whole reason they included that dialogue was to contrast with Vi's quote from the start of Episode 1 when Jinx isn't prepared to make the jump from one rooftop to another when Vi says to her "remember what I told you, you're ready for this" (paraphrased) so if you can't see this you need to rewatch first 3 eps or you didn't understand the show. Vi told her sister that, despite what Mylo thinks, she is ready so of course Powder just wanted to prove herself. (SPOILERS) .... ... ... Even later in Episode 5 or 6 when Vi is with Caitlyn she acknowledges her mistake in leaving Powder behind when she is fading out from her injury. At the end of the day, Vi can't be blamed either for reacting the way she did because she was also young and inexperienced as a leader and she saw people she cared about die as a result of Powders actions but to say that the defense people have for Powders use of the Hex Explosion "is the exact reason why she shouldn't have used it" is just straight up wrong. The show itself is sympathetic to Powder and even if you ignore that and approach it purely from a logical perspective factoring in Powder's age and goals it is clear that it isn't her fault (or her fault alone, depending on how you look at it). Cmon man don't argue for the sake of arguing. Vi was NOT right. Nobody was. There was no such thing as "Right" in that situation.
Nah Powder isnt DUMB. She KNEW she did mess up ALOT on small missions. SHE KNEW that.. Her sister told her to stay the ONE person who believes in you says stay than you STAY. She could have protected home and proved herself ....All Vi friends were right Powder was a liability....Powder needed two strikes from Vi.
In the moment she needed her sister the most, she left her. Of course she is going to jump on the next form of affection she could find. She is like 9, and all of her family just died...
@Tesla-Effect I mean its pretty obvious when you cackle cry while smiling (well she wasn't smiling but more crazed) its a surefire sign you aren't completely there. Coming from someone whose sister was diagnosed with manic schizophrenia around 16 years ago, basically observed how she went about her delusions and mood swings at the age of 12. Like yeah, she wouldn't listen to my parents and would do shit or run away all the time, and we would get mad. But at the end of the day we couldn't completely be THAT mad at her because we knew mentally she just wasn't there and was going to just keep on doing the same stuff. So seeing these guys yet again be rash and throw Powder under the bus is infuriating when its like...the child clearly got something going on with her.
people treat kids like they can process emotions and make decisions like adults, when adults themselves fail a lot even though more experienced and sometimes grown up in better environments.
I’m prolly gonna get people yelling at me but I genuinely don’t blame Powder. She’s supposed to be pretty young and this is literal life and death and she just. wanted to save her sister. She doesn’t see what happens inside, but seeing Vi only really shows her that she “saved” them before the full extent of her actions come into play. Which just absolutely sucks because we know she wanted to help/be of use/reliable to her family
As someone else put it, she's a traumatized, emotionally damaged 7 year old that has just enough basic understanding of gadgets and explosives to be dangerous to herself and those around her, with a near pathological need to be accepted, and abandonment issues. She was a tragedy Waiting to happen, and this was just what happens when friendly fire isn't disabled for the "hero" and thier plan.
I mean anyone with a functioning braincell truly doesn't blame powder, because this was all just a chain of events that no one would have predicted. Especially when you're dealing with a young child who is clingy, who falls somewhere on the mental spectrum.
@@daemonspade8316 she literally was trying to help, its different when something young does something fucked up on their own knowing its fucked up. she totally has blame on it but clearly she meant good.
@@daemonspade8316 lol look how hostile you're getting. Something must have touched a nerve with you. I assume Silco isn't to blame for sending a monster after them and kidnapping Vander in the first place? Or Marcus for setting up a deal to hand him over. You know, the things that are the direct reasons for any of it happening, like a 7 year old trying to save thier family.
Pretty sure everyone wanted her to stay home, but she disobeyed and then when she’s finally there they wanted her to do something but she done too much it’s not rocket science why people are mad at powder.
@LMR Yet, adult viewers says that she should help out by using the bomb, not concidering what the result might be themvselves. But, after the results they are like "Fuck her, she should've known that could happen, she made the bomb...". Like she couldn't predict it more than you..
@@bluebeetle3175 Yeah let me just control the explosion yeah? Call up all the nuclear scientists you know, we’re gonna triangulate the exact angle to blow up the guy without friendly fire. Might as well give everyone Kevlar just in case
Remember Vi was the one who told Powder to keep the stones instead of turning them over to Vander like she was going to. I feel like all the characters made bad decisions of varying degrees that led to this.
If Vi never told Powder she was ready she would never thought to go despite being told not to. In a way, both sisters are responsible for this outcome. Vi also told Powder to keep the crystals and keep them a secret! Many little choices lead up to this!
But there is still some responsibility on Vi too, she tried to turn herself in causing Vander to get captured and she’s either telling Powder that she’s ready then not ready. Especially for a kid that’s unstable and has breakdowns, it messes with her head. But I understood Vi’s frustration though, she just needed to walk away and breath for a second.
There’s also the fact that the entire political situation between Piltover and Zaun has doomed them the moment they were born. Their life was only ever going to be a tragedy
If you're going to let a child work with explosives, you have to teach them how to do it safely. No one did that, and she was encouraged to keep making explosives.
And had absolutely nowhere to go. This dude LUPA, yes you, be trippin’ and hypocrytin’ (still love you). He’s tryna say if Sheera and Roshi went out on a suicide mission, he’d sit still? Bull. He’d be doing dumber stuff than Powder.
Riot: We want to make a show where the characters are victims of their circumstances and tragic shit happens around them. Lupa: It's powder's fault !!!
@@diggs825 so was Vi. Even Claggor and Mylo suffered from the consequences of the past. Circumstance is what makes a villain out of most people. And the severity of your mistakes will bring with it a lot of hate. Its entirely natural and justified.
The lanes isnt a reference to the game, in the show Zaun is pretty much a city while the lanes is a district. Edit: Made a mistake calling the lanes a city instead.
@@Lucas-st1xq the black lanes are a district within zaun. Zaun is much bigger than just the lanes. Silco was talking about uniting zaun instead of the broken mess it is now
@@mattimeikalainen6963 Im talking about lanes in general. Zaun is wholly made of lanes (like upper lanes, middle lanes and lower lanes) that are distributed among the canyons around Piltover. Yes the black lanes are a specific part, but the whole city is made of lanes of settlement. What Im saying is, Zaun isnt founded yet, the citizens and even the counselors refer to Zaun as "undercity", a ghetto around Piltover. Silco is the only one yet who said the name " Zaun", he is not talking about unify, he is talking about creating and founding
I'm glad you guys made note of VI going back to save Powder right away. It's refreshing because my favorite part of that final scene that nobody else seems to be talking about is how VI got space, but didn't leave or walk away completely. She just needed to gather herself for a bit. Immediately as she saw Silco standing over Powder, she was already running to her rescue. SO. MANY. SHOWS. do the opposite of this when a traumatic moment happens between two protagonists. They show the one protagonist shun the other protagonist until that protagonist either becomes a villain or gets kidnapped or whatever. Then once that moment happens, the first protagonist "has an epiphany" and realizes how much they cared about the other protagonist all along and goes to save them. It's such fucking bullshit writing and happens all of the time. I hate that trope. It makes that first protagonist come off as a bit of an asshole even when finally doing the right thing. This is like the exact opposite of that trope. It makes Vi that much more endearing to me. She never stopped being the best sister she could be, even in her biggest moment of weakness. And it makes complete sense for Powder/Jinx to think Vi completely abandoned her in that moment. It's so good and so well done both ways. One of the rare times something like this has made complete and total sense from both opposite view points. I just want to say BRAVO to the writing team for Arcane, you fucking nailed this better than 99% of shows do, and you did it all in 2 hours. Instead of having Vi get space without actually leaving the scene, most shows would have shown Vi continue walking away without looking back to really "sell the moment". Then Silco would take Powder because Vi wasn't actually there to save her. And this episode would have been lesser for it considering how much these first 3 episodes really tried to paint and capture just how much Vi loves, adores, and wants to protect and make the world a better place for her sister. I love that even in her darkest hour, she stayed in that same area and didn't abandon Powder, even if Powder believes she did because of Marcus capturing her. And I love that she tried to run back and save Powder as soon as she saw Silco standing over her. No hesitation whatsoever. Vi is literally best big sister. I love her. And if she had walked away here like 99% of shows would have had her do, I'd be singing an entirely different tune about her. It really goes to show how one little choice (story wise, stylistic wise, or otherwise) can make all the difference in how someone views something. This episode is incredible; one of the best I've ever seen. And it's mainly because of one choice that holds it all together in the end for me.
Yeah I haven't watched this show and have only seen clips of this episode. And the first clip I saw was Vi lashing out at Powder and I immediately thought she should get some space to go calm down before facing her sister again. Cause when I saw her realization of what Powder did my heart just sank and felt so many emotions as if I was her and with that much pain and shock I doubt she's gonna completely be stable and act calm at what her sister has done. So it was quite baffling when I saw some comments on tiktok hating her for getting some space and realistically lashing out.
Thank you for having empathy for Vi and actually understanding her! I've seen too many people hate on her as if she intended to ditch Powder. Even though my favourite characters are Silco and Jinx, I always defend Vi from hate - she reacted as realistically and understandably as possible. And I applaud her for immediately trying to RUN back to Powder when she noticed Silco. She is a great sister.
Pray for Lupa lol. But seriously I can't blame him for reacting that way in the heat of the moment. But I don't think Jinx deserves all the hate either.
bro it gets worse in ep4.. lmfao... pray for lupa indeed. I don't necessarily think of jinx that way but I can understand why his opinion on jinx is like that but still..
@Guillermetal bro I don't play or have any knowledge of league aside from vi and jinx.. don't even know that they're sisters in game... but I've seen a handful of ppl like me who understood jinx's character and jinx definitely doesn't deserve ALL THIS HATE... I understand where ppl like lupa is coming from but its too one sided... I don't condone hate comments at all but I hope some ppl are saying needs to be said about Vi, Jinx and this whole episode in general...
@Guillermetal Ep 3 and 4 dropped on Patreon today and there are a lot more hateful comments regarding Lupa's opinion of Jinx during both videos. It's why Roshi made the special pinned comment on this video as he was anticipating a lot of hate on UA-cam too. To my surprise, I think UA-cam was a lot more forgiving and understanding of Lupa's POV. Basically being respectful even if they disagree with it. To give a rough idea, I would say 15-30% of the comments on Patreon are hateful/annoyed comments regarding Lupa's opinion while UA-cam seems to be about
For Lupa-san's question about the lanes, it has no relation to the game. The lanes was like another form of pertaining to Zaun--the undercity, just like how Vander called Piltover--the topside in episode 1
I can totally understand getting angry at Powder in the moment but I find it kinda goofy when people act like she was gonna be able to control a fucking hydrogen bomb.
I instantly thought back to Korra as well. Roshi and Sheera seem to at least understand it a little. Lupa on the other hand, yikes, haha. Not exactly his strong suit.
Well it wouldve been fine if she just threw a bomb. She put all 3 bombs in her robot KNOWING one of them can destroy a building. Shes just STUPID AS FUCK, thats all.
@Tesla-Effect taking into account that Arcane is animated by a French animation studio which are probably mostly artists that got their Art Education in France. it's a very safe bet to say the editor is right to say it is a reference to 'The Fallen Angel'; plus it's a very apt comparison considering the scenes are all about the downfall of a villainous character
@Tesla-Effect Every time a crying angry eye is shown to represent the turn to evil it is inspired by Lucifer, but it is also of course a callback to the poster.
I think Lupa just doesn't really understand past trauma and how that can shape an individual. He had pretty similarly shitty takes in Book 4 of Korra during the PTSD arc. I mean he's literally hating on a 10 year old girl who witnessed both her parents be killed only a few years earlier. Cmon dude, people are only asking for like the baseline amount of empathy here.
dude... lupa thanking vi for beating her 7 year old sister crying her eyes out is fucked up. maybe i crossed the line by saying this, but i hope he never has a daughter or son, that kid is going to have a tough childhood with someone who responds to screw ups like that. bro.... jesus
in Powder defense she thought that her friends and sister would die , then tried to help .. but yeah that happen .. but dont forget she is just a child... she did everything with good intentions , poor powder dude..
nah i’m with powder, i been there only wanting to help and fucking up to next level degrees, this episode unearthed hella physical and emotional trauma
Of course Powder changed her mind about Vi so quickly. She's a child and even though she still screwed up majorly, she didn't expect Vi to ABANDON her when she needed her most. And Silco took her in when she was at her most broken after it had been drilled into her by everyone except for Vander that she is a Jinx. Silco took pity on her because he saw himself and Vander in Powder and Vi. And Powder accepted it because that was the only time she ever felt needed. Children change their mind very quickly when neglected or mistreated. When a child messes up they need someone to tell them it's okay or to make their mistake know but still stay with them. She was also having a mental breakdown and most likely didn't even realized that Silco was the one who killed Vander. The psychology of Powder actually makes a lot of sense.
Yall literally wanted her to do something then blame her for doing something? LOL! Just appreciate how much the writers just dicked this character’s life cause this was just an unfortunate series of events
BLAME LUPA! Both Sheera and Roshi understood Powder and her actions. Lupa's the one you should take your anger on. He is a pussy ass bitch for hating on a fictional child.
At least one of you defended Powder Jesus....she's literally like 7 years old. Had she not done anything, in all likelihood EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM would've died. Like y'all really weren't thinking about what would've happened had she not intervened.
I love the design of Claggor and Mylo so much. Even though they were temporary characters, the artists gave them such definitive and unique features. Mylo's angular face, wild hair and huge eyebrows... Claggor's round features, goggles and stature. It subconsciously makes the viewer think that they'll grow up to BE something in this world of magic and super-powered heroics. You can't help but see their individual skills and envision the type of hero they could grow up to be. Mylo the rogue, Claggor the tank. And when they are killed, you mourn for their lost potential, genius character design!
In Killing Joke, Joker argued that everyone is "one bad day" away from becoming him. This was Powder's one bad day. Mel is the wealthiest, biggest oppressor in a city full of colonizers, but dang she is distractingly beautiful.
Some of y’all forget Powder’s an actual child lol All of them are but she’s the youngest And she has trauma as well(from the death of her parents) and lives in a dangerous ass environment. She wanted to help. Shes a kid. She’s going to come up with a child like plan with no understanding of the weapon she has or the consequences of it. After Vi leaves, she’s even more traumatize after killing everyone and goes to first person who comforts her. Remember. Still a kid lol Powder’s also my fave character in LoL ❤️. Especially after seeing her backstory.
It's wild to me how in hindsight everyone was cheering powder on AFTER they saw it loaded with two bombs. They were sitting there clapping their hands and then when it exploded, they started pointing fingers. If y'all didn't know it would work, how would an 8 year old? That's how this works. Everyone's supportive until something goes wrong. Then they're looking for heads and not humanity. That said, an 8 year old is making bombs and we're blaming her when it goes off. Who's encouraging a child to use, let alone make bombs.
It isn't really Vi's fault for taking the job. Her team actually handled themselves well. Vi's fault lies in not actually listening to her team's feedback telling her that Powder wasn't ready because she _really_ was not ready for such a high stakes mission. Hence she was careless, dropped basically a live grenade on the ground and _that_ raised the tension between Piltover and the Undercity. Were it not for that, there is no way Jayce would have reported anything stolen since that would have revealed his illegal research.
Honestly y'all were far more understanding than most reactors. It's always amazing watching grown ass adults blaming kids for being kids. I'm glad y'all at least tried to understand the situation and what pushed these kids to do what they did.
Those reactors blaming Powder for an accident when she's a literal child and jubilating when she gets slapped has reminded me why I hate being around most people.
Shes too dumb, thats the reason theyre hating on her. She knows that Vi always takes her side, takes her on all kinds of missions etc but this time shes telling her to stay home, There must be a reason, but nope "i want to help them" "remembers one of those crystals can blow up a building" Puts 3 inside her robot to obliterate everyone, nice. Like OK bitch even if you say shes a child why did she put ALL 3 fucking bombs in one robot? WHEN she clearly knows just one can blow up a building? nahhhhh she shouldve died at birth.
we're so used to main characters doing things that seem right and succeeding, this is one of the times i've seen a main character do what WE ALL see as right and they fail
Ah yes, pain the episode. It's dope seeing y'alls reaction since you know nothing about LoL. Knowing who's who shapes my expectations a lot, so seeing a genuine response to the direction things take is cool!
The show itself is so good I kind of wish people would stop thinking of it as a League of Legends show. It's amazing on its own, and actually does something with the lore instead of the game, which is just an endless cycle of PvP.
@@SwordTune Yeah the show stands up perfectly well on its own! I think the only moment where it would be a big deal knowing the lore is that scene where Viktor reveals his name and they emphasize it. Other than that, everything is totally enjoyable whether you know what's up or don't
@@SwordTune I'm saying nobody has a reason to go "oh shit, Viktor!" when he reveals his name unless you know the lore/know who he is. I for one was hype to see him, but reactors who didn't know him were either indifferent or confused lol.
Dude, when Powder went "I'm gonna use the bombs" I almost SHOUTED at the screen, acting like she could hear me tell her "BESTIE NO UR GONNA KILL EVERYONE." It's a _bomb._ It doesn't stop for anyone ;_;
Dude, Powder is not trash. Let's review. Vi and the other geniuses in her crew decided to take a child to commit a crime. Then they get into a fight with hooligans who are twice Powder's age and three times her size. They criticize her for not being able to protect their stolen goods from savages that could've seriously injured or killed her. And yes she didn't stay home at the end. But all of this could've been avoided if they hand't have brought her along to begin with.
Hold on you guys can't go blaming powder lol 40 seconds before hand you legit told her to throw the bombs 😂 🤣 you would have done the same thing don't lie XD
I'm not trying to defend Powder, because she actually killed Mylo and Claggor, so that point doesn't change and she will continue to charge for their deaths. However, there is something that nobody takes into account, and that is that from the first episodes there are indications that Powder is not mentally well. We see this in her excessive dependence on her on Vi, or hers as she cried madly when Vi left her at her house. We have to bear in mind that she not only saw her mother die at an early age (leaving Vi as the only emotional support figure). To this we add a hint of an inferiority complex that she feels towards her sister. After that, she realizes that she accidentally killed her friends (and that depending on the context, they are practically brothers) and her father (Vander). Then Vi abandons her. So, although it sounds contradictory, Powder is to blame for killing everyone, but in reality she did not do anything wrong, since she only reacted to his environment
Lol, Marcus be like "He'll kill you if he finds you, let me save you...and immediately send you to jail." Like, granted, at least she'll survive, but still, what if she got randomly shanked there lmao.
After watching this episode, my first taught was, "wtf Powder." But when I contemplating about it again, I think it's pretty realistic. It felt natural. The perfect arc for a villain origin. (Also, I don't aware with the reference until now. Nice catch!)
Hey guys, enjoyed the reaction and I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes! I appreciated YaBoyRoshi's perspective on Powder and just wanted to chime in a little bit. I think it's important not to use results based thinking to judge characters, you have to look at their reasoning and intentions. Powder's repeatedly shown to have attachment and anxiety issues stemming from losing her parents, and she's desperate for a sense of belonging and validation. Vi is the only one that gives that to her. Just look at how sad she is when Vi leaves to turn herself in (not that she knew Vi's plan) and how she rushes in to hold on to her as soon as Vi gets back. When she's immediately left alone again, she has a total panic attack. I can only speak for myself but that scene really hits me, it seems so accurate to how I've felt when I've had meltdowns like that. Is Vi wrong for wanting to protect her? Of course not, she has good intentions too. But Powder's realization that she has powerful explosives that could save her family and her disobedience to Vi's orders don't make her bad either. She's worried out of her mind and wants to help in whatever active capacity she can. The disaster that follows is tremendously tragic but I don't think you can blame a traumatized child for trying her best in a totally messed up scenario. There's a theme of disobedience with Vi and Vander as well, with Vi's ill advised heist in the first episode starting the whole chain of dominos. Or with Jayce and the council, Caitlyn and her parents, Vander and Silco and their rebellion, Grayson and Marcus and the law... sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but relationships with authority are complex and I think you have to look at context for each character rather than just the ways they mess up. Anyway, sorry to ramble on hahaha. I think we can all agree that Powder's voice actress knocked it out of the park and that all of the facial animations for the characters are incredible. And the fight choreography? Chef's kiss.
This. Nothing irks me in reactions more than people expecting characters to be omnipotent. And when people go to asserting blame to actions waaay past. “Vi is to blame because she did the heist in the first place.” “Oh ya? Well Vander is to blame because he didn’t teach them better.” “Oh ya? Well it’s topside’s fault.” “Oh ya? Well it’s Heimerdinger’s fault cuz he started founded Piltover.” It’s like, great, now we’ve worked out that it’s heimerdinger’s great great great aunt’s fault that Jinx killed some rando. Smh
Powder wasn't trash; she was consequence. Vi, Vander, everyone but Mylo encouraged her to play with bombs and were surprised that they exploded. Mylo was right to ask she be kept away from this stuff, even if his approach was rough. But none of them were given the chance to be good parents due to Piltover's arrogant tyranny
Jinx is my main in league, and she’s always been this overly Choatic, psychotic, murder hobo for almost no reason. A few champions have voice lines with her that help us dive deeper. But this Show explains SO much about why she is the way she is
I feel bad for Powder, not mainly because she wanted to prove to them she could help, but she genuinely thought she was saving them and there was no way of her knowing that they were going to escape 😢
Ok Lupa, let's act like it isn't Vi's fault for not telling her kid sister to throw the only things away that coud tie them to the collapsed building on Topside.

I remember seeing a comment I liked from another video:
“This show is so good because it allows characters to fail because of their virtues rather than their faults.”
this show is so good because there is always consequences for every little action and they are not ignored. also realistic reactions to those consequences that don't make you feel like the characters are just acting but really living the struggle of their actions and not knowing how to fix them.
That is such a good description. And it bothers me that that's what others blame the characters for rather than their cause and intentions. Not that it's bad all the time, but when it happens alot it gets cliche and lazy to an extent.
Fantastic read. Every character has a positive motivation.
coz their faults r their virtues
Word, man. Powder is just 7/8 in this act of the show. That's the worst part.

Also powder is just a kid who doesn't know how strong of a bomb she made.
"Powder, blow him up!"
"Powder wtf bro..."
It’s also the fact that she keeps being told back and forth that she’s ready and not ready
Audience: OMG Powder please just use the goddam bomb

Also everything that happened was so believable. No Characters action felt like it was written in for plot reasons or put characters in a certain light. It was just a really tragic turn of events.

There is no right or wrong.

if powder's bomb didnt kill the friends and actually helped, everyone would be cheering for her.
Yeah, since the objective was to save her family not kill half of them. 🤨
(SPOILERS)
....
...
People be forgetting powder is a child, an unstable one at that. Anyone with a functioning braincell will not even blame her fully.

Yeah she just killed her family and her sister called her a jinx and then left her and then she broke down crying, she's going to cling onto anyone.
She’s actually 7 btw
This episode is incredible. The final episode in both acts have been my favorites so far

Na this is 100% on powder
But there is still some responsibility on Vi too, she tried to turn herself in causing Vander to get captured and she’s either telling Powder that she’s ready then not ready. Especially for a kid that’s unstable and has breakdowns, it messes with her head. But I understood Vi’s frustration though, she just needed to walk away and breath for a second.
There’s also the fact that the entire political situation between Piltover and Zaun has doomed them the moment they were born. Their life was only ever going to be a tragedy
@@mekaelbayati8040 That's also a major factor! It's not at all an exaggeration to say Piltover is responsible for all of Zaun's problems.

The lanes isnt a reference to the game, in the show Zaun is pretty much a city while the lanes is a district.

Zaun isnt Zaun yet, its just the lanes, I believe at the end of the series, Zaun will become official

It's why Roshi made the special pinned comment on this video as he was anticipating a lot of hate on UA-cam too. Lupa is extra stupid in this one………
You can’t blame her, all events happened cause of vi..
For Lupa-san's question about the lanes, it has no relation to the game. The lanes was like another form of pertaining to Zaun--the undercity, just like how Vander called Piltover--the topside in episode 1

It's the same with the Korra season 4 reactions, they just don't understand mental health which is fine, not everyone does.
I instantly thought back to Korra as well. Roshi and Sheera seem to at least understand it a little. Lupa on the other hand, yikes, haha. Not exactly his strong suit.

it's a very safe bet to say the editor is right to say it is a reference to 'The Fallen Angel'; plus it's a very apt comparison considering the scenes are all about the downfall of a villainous character
@Tesla-Effect Every time a crying angry eye is shown to represent the turn to evil it is inspired by Lucifer, but it is also of course a callback to the poster.

nah i’m with powder, i been there only wanting to help and fucking up to next level degrees, this episode unearthed hella physical and emotional trauma

Yo that painting of Lucifer was literally the first thing I thought when I saw Powder's eyes.
Nah nigga…powder is trash bruh
Silco and Powder are alike in that both worshipped someone else who, from their perspective, brutally betrayed them at their lowest moment.

“Vi is to blame because she did the heist in the first place.”
“Oh ya? Well Vander is to blame because he didn’t teach them better.”
“Oh ya? Well it’s topside’s fault.”
“Oh ya? Well it’s Heimerdinger’s fault cuz he started founded Piltover.”
It’s like, great, now we’ve worked out that it’s heimerdinger’s great great great aunt’s fault that Jinx killed some rando.
But this Show explains SO much about why she is the way she is
and by Ep 6 we haven't yet seen her go full Jinx for more than a few seconds
can't wait for her to really lose it
I feel bad for Powder, not mainly because she wanted to prove to them she could help, but she genuinely thought she was saving them and there was no way of her knowing that they were going to escape 😢
Powder is a child in a bad situation just trying to help. Honestly can't fault her.
The reaction we’ve all been waiting for! 🔥
Y’all blessing us with these reactions 🙏
The parallels between Silco and Powder is just amazing
Ok Lupa, let's act like it isn't Vi's fault for not telling her kid sister to throw the only things away that coud tie them to the collapsed building on Topside.
i love how all the reactors are reacting so differently and it just shows how good the writing is damn
