  • In this video I describe the technique that I use to burn or torch wood for a rustic look on any DIY project, including tips and tricks on like the best wood type to use and safety. I use this technique to not only add character to projects like flags and crosses, but also as a beautiful alternative finish for furniture or any project that doesn't require any stain, paint, or dye. I have several videos on how to build patriotic woodworking projects incorporating the American flag, including concealment boxes, cabinets, and furniture on my channel, which I will link to below as they come out. There will be more to follow as the channel matures, so be sure to subscribe so that you will be notified as the videos are released.

      @@maverickdesignswoodworking Just a quick note: that torch doesn't seem to be available any longer. Can you recommend another?

      @@Oakydokes Sorry, I don't know how this message got by me, but in case you're still looking for a torch, it is available, you just have to click on "see all buying options" on the right side of the screen. I bought this one from Home Depot myself, so you should be able to get it there as well, but using the link does help to support the channel.

    From what I gathered the nozzles, the basic ones only work upward, where as like the T8000 work both directions, so it maybe just be something to do with that… I’ve been looking at a couple different ones trying to figure out difference and that’s only thing I noticed on packaging was direction of use.

      Hi Julie. I'm not not sure which specific item you're referring to. Woodworking is a part time thing for me currently, and local sales keep me so busy that I've never had the need to advertise or sell outside my local market. But if you want, email me at maverick.designs@yahoo.com, let me know what you're interested in, and we'll work out a way to get you what you want.

      Do as I say, not as I do, lol. Yeah, that probably had to do with messing with the camera for a shot or in the editing process. I've gotten better at it, but the videography part of doing this is the hardest part. I particularly sucked at it back when I filmed this. And sometimes you just forget or get in a hurry, especially the latter, and you have to deal with the fingerprints if you get them. That may have been because I took them off to intentionally make some prints so I could show you, then got mixed around a bit in the editing process. I don't remember. It's been a good while since I did this one.

    How much do you get for the flag coat rack?

      I haven't made one of those in a while, but I think I sold the last one for around 185.

    1:29 will you be doing a build video with dimensions for the American flag coat rack?

    • @maverickdesignswoodworking
      @maverickdesignswoodworking  Рік тому +1

      Yes, sir! I already filmed the build video for it a while ago, it's just waiting for editing. I'm working on that and 2 others right now. I will try to get it out in the next couple of weeks. My goal is to also have plans ready for it on my website as well.

      That's pretty much exactly what I do when I'm going for more of a shou sugi ban type finish, but my intent here is intentionally different.

      I'm sorry you feel that way. This was one of my first videos when I was still trying to figure all this out, and I've made significant adjustments since then, but I also have a lot of viewers who like to have more detail and info. I'll continue to improve as I go, but it's impossible to please everyone. Thanks for watching.

    Dude I appreciate your work and I’m subscribed but something inherently wrong with a burn video that goes 16+ minutes without turning a torch on. Get to the point, instruct and then add all the other stuff

      This is one of the first videos I ever did. While I have gotten much better at it (arguably), I still had no idea what I was doing at this point. If you go back to any UA-camr you like to watch and compare their first 5 or 10 videos to their 100th, or 1000th, or whatever, there's going to be a massive difference. While I appreciate and don't mind the criticism, you also have to understand and keep in mind the context. My apologies if this one didn't meet your expectations, but I do make an attempt to improve with every video in spite of the fact that I'm a woodworker, but not a professional videographer.
