At state parks, iconic brown and yellow signs have told you where to go for years. And for decades they have all been made in the same shop at Bastrop State Park. The process is not as hands-on as it once was, but the Bastrop sign shop is still humming. Meet Willie Steinhauser, the state park sign maker.

The man behind the signs! Awesome video. I really enjoyed watching his enthusiasm. I have this kind of enthusiasm every time I visit a Texas State Park. Thank you Willie Steinhauser for a job well done and to all those whether employed, volunteers or visitors of TSP’s who contribute to maintaining the parks.

I am so blessed to have met this man many years ago (we used to ride bikes to a business class at A&M). He is, hands down, what I aspire to be (ethical, focused, helpful, blah blah blah). I love me some Willie Steinhauser.

This is one of the best videos. As I was watching it just made me want to get out to the parks.

I have always wondered the process for getting the signs out there, so thanks for publishing this video. An invaluable job, done by an AGGIE!

Great video, I was wondering as I’m watching the person use the chrome shot yellow how do you make sure that the paint isn’t over the edges? Really great craftsmanship a pleasure to watch.

I have a few questions about the CNC process. How can I get in touch with the sign shop?
