For more than 70 years, folks have visited Bastrop State Park to enjoy its history and marvel at the Lost Pines. Forest fires and floods have ravaged the park in recent years. Now comes rebirth: new trees, new plants and new life. Come experience the park’s recovery from nature’s fury.

I love BSP so much! I’ve been there 5 times in the past 2 months! Can’t wait to get back!

It’s a habitat similar to our NJ Pine Barrens. Also love the CCC architecture which often shouts “Craftsmanship “!

This has been my favorite state park for years. It might not be everyone's favorite, but it is so special in so many ways. One of the best, most rewarding, and most meaningful experiences in Texas can be found in the Lost Pines Forest.

Weirdly, no one mentioned the most beautiful huge swimming pool, actually 3 swimming pools. That has always been the highlight of the state park. I lived there most of my life and along with my children and grandchildren we stopped for the playground and pool several times a week. Very rarely camped or walked on a trail. How can you have a video and not show the pool behind the refectory?

I need to visit this park. Love the CCC parks, they built things to last.

So glad to see it has recovered and is still recovering. That fire broke my heart in so many ways not the least of which was entering Bastrop State Park. I never camped there but went often for day trips and spent many hours there enjoying nature and the quiet. Only thing I shot were photos. ;) Have hundreds of them. I have not been back since the fire but I should go... perhaps this spring. - Heidi

Currently the park’s 10-acre lake is dry due to dam failure. Find other parks where you can fish at tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/programs/familyfish/

@@texasparksandwildlife Adjoining Buescher State Park has a fishing pond. There is swimming at Bastrop State Park, known throughout the state.
