- Located along the Navasota River where the grasses of the Blackland Prairie meet the woodlands of the Post Oak Savannah, Fort Parker State Park offers a tranquil setting for camping, hiking, biking and fishing. There is a lot of history here, too. Located on what was once the town of Springfield, the park was built by the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s.

Went for the first time this week. A hidden gem of a park.
My family used to work there in the 90's back when Tom Fisher was the superintendent. I remember all the spots there. Used to walk those trails all the time. Fish off that dock for Catfish and Carp. The Navasota river was great for bass. I found a couple Arrowheads near Springfield Pond where they have the yearly fishing derby at the Group Barracks area. I wouldn't recommend swimming though.
Why not swim?? Dirty water ??
I have been to this place once.
Can't wait for next month. I be there for the Parker reunion.
What part of the family are you from? I’m from the Parker’s as well. Just visited Palestine and pilgrim cemetery this past week
