Forty years since I last walked those streets. Some of the people I walked with are no longer living, and all are gone from my life. Tears in my ageing eyes today.
I like how you are walking briskly, but the camera eye still takes everything in, and the glory of Durham is in the details. As for the rain, come to Glasgow on a rainy day and you'll get the coastal winds too, making walking a bleak business.
Well it's a international heritage site and there's plenty reason 4 that ! Some things haven't changed but during my life the fact is Durham is or has turned in2 a very big student campus ? That's not what you'd expect in an ancient city like Durham ? Travel down 2 york and you'll see a very different attitude as 4 keeping yorks relics in keeping with what they are or were ! Durham on the tutha hand as exploded in part with the building of certain hotels and shopping malls that's being built as we speak the total look of the city is you approach from various roads the views are being hidden from view ? Fact is there's not much going well 4 Durham just now ,obvious reasons 4 that but the closures of many ,a lot really of shops of many themes that's closed may not re-open ? Through that and other problems will see Durham being a ghost town as far as local but "ordinary " folk go ?????
This english town is straight from a nursery book, and the wet and cold weather is just an icing on the cake. ❤️

It's not always as quiet as that . I think that was a cold wet Wednesday afternoon . Half day closing .
