  • Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland. Famous for its Victorian architecture it is a national cultural hub with the Scottish National opera, ballet and an interesting music scene.
    We start our walk at the River Clyde near the "La Pasionaria" sculpture in the southern city centre. From there we walk on Jamaica St towards the inner city and St Enoch Square. A quick detour through the shopping mall there and we continue northwards on the Buchanan St with many shops.
    On our walk we also pass the Museums and the George Square with the Glasgow City Chambers. From the merchant city we head back to the centre and enjoy the street that become quieter now at the end of the day.
    From the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall we head West and eventually go back South towards the Glasgow Central Station. We end our tour - now after sunset - right where we started - exactly 1 hour ago - at the River Clyde.

    Thank you Daniel, for another wonderful walk.
    I have always wanted to see this location! Because Chef Gordon Ramsay always talks about this place. He was born in Scotland and very proud of it.
    Amaryllis was a restaurant located in the One Devonshire Gardens hotel in *Glasgow Scotland* . It was opened by chef *Gordon Ramsay* , with David Dempsey operating the restaurant on a daily basis for the celebrity chef. That was in 2001. In 2004 it closed. Anyways, this is one reason I was so excited to see this lovely wealthy city!
    Enjoyed your opening at River Clyde. You started at (time on city clocks) Sixteen Thirty and ended near Nineteen Fifteen. (I somehow missed where you paused or edited)
    0:08 *La Pasionaria* Sculpture at beginning and ends at this location 58:09 which was panned so nicely via you and your camera during DUSK at 7:10PM.
    02:03 During your walk, I got the biggest laugh when the girl w/Pink Hair, Head Smacked the guy next to her! Hahaha!
    Glasgow has so MUCH "GLASS" everywhere, hence its namesake?
    5:00 ST Enoch Square - Glass Subway Domes plus very Unique architecture for the Cafe Nero.

    20:29 Interesting BLACK BUILDING

    25:49 *Itlalian Center*

    33:15 I like how you panned from this location. *Buchanan Galleries*
    34:27 *Glasgow Royal Concert Hall*
    39:34 *John Lewis* Statue. I looked up this store. We don't have in USA. However, if we did, this would be a place I'd love to shop at.
    39:25 *Theater Royal* Beautiful Glass Windows. Really looks nice in your video via DUSK.
    51:52 Entering the *Grand Central Station* Exit 54:38 So glad you went inside. I have been very curious what these places look like inside. I had no idea it was like Mall! This place is Extremely HUGE! I love it!

    Excellent video mate. A few words about the statue at the beginning and ending of this video;
    ARMS DEFIANTLY OUTSTRETCHED, FACE RAISED to the sky, the figure of La Pasionaria looms large over the banks of the River Clyde in central Glasgow. La Pasionaria” (“The Passion Flower”) was the pen name of Dolores Ibárruri, a Spanish Republican politician, communist, and prominent anti-fascist propagandist during the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939.
    La Pasionaria served as inspiration for sculptor Arthur Dooley in 1974, when the International Brigades Association of Glasgow commissioned him to create a memorial to British citizens who served in the brigades during the war. The brigades were comprised of volunteers from across Europe who came to Spain to aid the fight against a fascist insurgency. Hundreds of volunteers from Britain died in the conflict.
    Viva la Quinta Brigada.

    This is not at all what I expected to see. Looking at the architecture, I bet some of these buildings are more than a thousand years old, same as London. The 1840s mudflood hit here, and it hit hard. I'll bet the vacancy factor for properties is very high, because these buildings are very expensive to renovate. I don't see much industry, just services; but this city is a good jumping off place for waterways, the Hebrides,. Farones, etc. But today's travel industry is nil, right?

    How do you solve the 4Gbyte limit with the Osmo Pocket? I can't seem to stitch the parts together seamless (using onboard mic, though).

    • @poptravelorg
      @poptravelorg  3 роки тому +1

      On the Mac I use the included QuickTime player to merge and export the video as one file. Quicktime there exports 4K60 as 38Mbit which is OK for UA-cam. MacOS has limited hardware acceleration support and then mostly in Quicktime. On Windows I was trying ffmpeg and a Powershell script to merge the files.
      'ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i $path\filelist.txt -c copy $Destination\$name' that you'd have to adjust. You can generate a filelist that the concat filter needs either through Bash or Powershell. I may write an article how to achieve that. As 4K video needs hardware accelerated encoding I found QuickSync is great - even a tiny Windows netbook I have here achieving 30fps at 4K. There are several ways to do merge video without using an editing program though it depends on the platform. The OSS ffmpeg is usually the best for the job.

    • @theGoogol
      @theGoogol 3 роки тому

      @@poptravelorg : Wow, now *_that's_* an answer, lol! Thank you very much!
      I haven't really tried merging without editing software yet (just bought the Osmo Pocket) but that seems like a very interesting solution. So far I'm recording in ffmpeg and haven't tried .mov yet (not a Mac user) but that could be another option to check out.
      Thanks for the homework & looking forward to more of your excellent content!

    • @poptravelorg
      @poptravelorg  3 роки тому +1

      You may want to check trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Concatenate for the function inside ffmpeg. The main point of that concat function is to merge video files _without_ re-encoding though MP4 is a inflexible container for that.
      Also check the free software "Lossless Cut" github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/releases for your OS. I have only briefly checked that tool yet it seemed cool. It also merged some files straight together when you drop them into the window and was quick. Check the settings of that tool to enable "Automerge" on export there maybe.
      With command-line ffmpeg there is a bit of scripting involved to create the text-file of filenames that the concat function needs... if you don't want to do it by hand. Also the internet has answers like this: superuser.com/questions/43588/how-can-i-merge-two-mp4-files-without-losing-quality
      For producing a large number of videos some automation is essential. So
