I'm not sure if you'll see this, Frank, but we're all still praying and pulling for you. I haven't found any information stating that you are back out touring after your diagnosis and retirement announcement, but I hope that you are able to continue your art. As a fan, thank you for all of the amazing records and performances. As a fellow musician, I wanted to say thank you for setting the bar so high, and being such an inspiration to myself and millions of others around the world. You pushed us all to be better just by releasing the music you did. One of the greatest improvisers to ever pick up the instrument! Here's to you, Mr. Frank Marino! 🍻
I have seen Eddy van Halen,Tony Iommy, Brian May,Mick Box,Michael Schenker, and a lot more.....and i saw Mr. Frank Marino in the early 80s in Frankfurt. He f....d em all. Hope you get ok Sir. A big fan from Germany.
I saw all of them as well and I saw the late Randy Rhodes from the 2nd row. And I completely agree with u. I saw Frank in a small venue around Washington DC in the 70's. That show was the best, ever!
All i can say is thank God for Frank Marino. Growing up in the 70's i was lucky to see Frank a few times, once at Madison Square Garden opening up for Kansas, another time with Aerosmith, and once with Pat Travers. Not only is his feel incredible and playing inspirational, but vocals are out of this world. Hopefully God will shine down on you Frank, and we will see or hear you play again !!!!
Here's to Frank!!! The best guitar player nobody but real old school rockers have heard of. The man's an all time great!!! Good to know he's still doing it after all these years.
Bummer With sorrow I am forced to announce my immediate retirement from touring, and possibly all things related to continuing my career, due to an unexpected and debilitating medical condition which makes it impossible for me to tour. I want to thank all the people who supported me all of the last half-century. I know that many were looking forward to seeing us play this fall and I was looking forward to getting out again and doing more shows, but it now appears that in the absence of a miraculous recovery, my Concert DVD (Live at the Agora) will constitute the last show I will ever have played. I ask any that are believers to include me in their prayers. - Frank Marino
I heard Frank for the first time back in 1973, from the Child of the Novelty album, New Rock and Roll. My older brother had that album. He had a big stereo from Radio Shack. I was 9 years old when I heard that song. The next song I heard was a few years later. From Mahogany Rush IV. It was Dragonfly. CHOM FM in Montreal. My older brother bought that album, too. That's when I really perked up to Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Then I bought that live album from '78. Then Tales of the Unexpected in '79. Long story short ... Frank's music crosses generations. Fast forward forty years. I have 2 outta 4 sons that play guitar. Both of those sons absolutely love Franks music! One of my boys and his band won the "Battle of the Bands" competition in Atlanta when he was 18 and 19 back in 2007 or '08. The moderator asked him (my son), Who were your greatest influences? My son said something like, "Oh, damn. Well, def Frank Marino". And then somebody in the audience shouted, Yeah!! And then I have my youngest son who picked up the guitar in 2016 or 17. He likes more jazzy n bluesy music. He doesn't like hard rock. So, I played It's Begun to Rain from the original album (IV) and he absolutely loved it! He loved Dragonfly, too. So, we started bantering about who is the most well-rounded? Who can play so many genres of music flawlessly? Who makes you feel the most comfortable and at ease at home? Who makes you feel the most comfortable in your skin? Which guitarist do you most identify with? Who would you sound like if you could play guitar on that level? Who's lyrics gave you goosebumps and inspired you the most? Based on all our music interests, it came down to 3. Jimmie Page and (Zeppelin), David Gilmour, and Frank Marino. We eliminated so many off that list. Blues artists, rock, jazz. Lots. Gone! Eric Johnson held in for a while. Why not? He's tight. It was hard to decide, obviously. Then we thought, These sounds and techniques from these bands, Zep, Floyd, and Mahogany are very disparate. So it's unfair to compare one against the other. So back to the original questions. Who is the most well-rounded? Who makes you comfortable at home and in your own skin? Who do you most identify with as a guitarist, and who would you sound like if you played on that level? Who's lyrics inspired you and gave you goosebumps? 2 of 3 of us said, Frank Marino. The other said, David Gilmour. But, he said, "It's just a difference in taste. They all taste different. This is an unfair comparison: Which Is Best? It's just a matter of taste." Ok, so which tastes best? Which would you aspire to? We three all said, "Frank", at the same time! Hahaha! So there!! How d'ya like them apples? True story!

I was so lucky to have seen both Ronnie and Pat appearing at a small venue in Tacoma. They performed within two or three months of each other. I was amazed that the owner of this club , which at one time was a Flakey Jake's hamburger place, got these superstars to play there. They were two of the best concerts I've ever been to. Wow what can u say this guy the band is totally the complete thing to have the gift to playing and singing the way he does I'm sure the angles in heaven smile when they hear his music got to love it play on Frank praying for the healing you need to cary on #1
I can’t believe there isn’t 10Million subscriber’s to Frank! There aren’t many guitarist that can pull that off. The melodic clean sound that jazz players have and the mood to die for. Get well Frank!!!!!!!!!! May the Lord be with you and keep you. Prayers are out for you. With much love and gratitude from a fan that has seen you 5 times.
I commented if Under rated is ever gonna be used on Y/T It’s this guy. He’s a beast. I think part of the problem is his bands name. Rush- Mahogany Rush at 18 and stoned to the bone, who knew.lol.
One of the absolute best guitarists ever, and one of the nicest and most humble persons I have had the pleasure to call a friend. The band members are all epic as well. Rock ON Frank and Band. Thank you for all of the incredible music and inspiration over the years. 🙏 ⚡ 🎸
@DFV Louderilk He said last summer he has an "unexpected and debilitating medical condition." Marino fans are likely to know more by now. I honestly haven't been following any additional news. Sad to hear, though.
@DFV Louderilk He rescheduled the tour for 2021, before announcing his retirement on June 30, 2021, due to adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). "I’ve got 50% movement in the arm," he said in 2012. "Although I have movement, I haven’t lost the pain. I’m in constant pain 24/7."
@@majoneski ...the..shoulder condition..was brought about from spending..hundreds of hours in the studio...re-doing missing drum parts that through a tech recording fault had gone missing from..the Agora Theatre DVD.So the ..DVD...truly was a labour of. love. This is the story as far as I’m aware.May the Lord Have Mercy on Frank’s shoulder pain...and Bless him with the Grace of Holy Peace.Amen.
Beautiful playing. He's maybe more enjoyable than Bonamasa, Eric Johnson, Gary Moore, I dunno, but that was beautiful. Some of the greatest get unnoticed which doesn't seem fair but at least some of us have had the great privilege of "noticing" thanks to UA-cam and Frank's dedication to his craft.
Frank, our gang would always go to the Eastown Theater at Harper & Van Dyke In Detroit to see you regardless of who else was on the bill. Every time was absolutely amazing!
A friend turned me onto Frank Marino and Robin Trower back in the 80's. I have loved that 70's style and sound ever since. I have a great collection of Marino's music. As a guitarist I have been trying to recreate that style and sound. Not so easy, close but not the same.❤🩹❤🩹
A lot of my friends don't know Frank Marino. I found Strange Dreams back in The day and bought every album he recorded! Then played this song and they all loved it!
This is probably my favourite video on UA-cam. I've long considered Frank a musical genius (since the 70s, in fact) and here he demonstrates his innate talent for songwriting, this is such a beautiful song, his ineffable sense of melody, his musicianship... this just has everything. Love it.
4 Strat style pickups... a custom finish on his fretboard.... those are just the things I noticed... 45 years ago this guy was doing stuff I couldn't believe....!
@@DaleBrotherton Gibson has become a guitar manufacturing whorehouse...! They could use seymore's or DiMarggio's.. do a limited edition & make one big fat Mountain of $....!
I grew up listening to Frank Marino And Mahogany Rush, Frank’s a musical treasure. Yes I’m another of the 63 year old guy’s found throughout the comment section who’s been listening to Frank since the old old days.
I just turned 63 a week ago. Tried to see Frank back when I was a teenager. He broke a hand or arm and that concert was canceled. Had tickets to two shows in 2020. That didn't work out. So glad for the DVD set from the Agora. A true master.
I saw Frank for the first time in 1972 at Vanier college auditorium in montreal quebec....amazing then and still fantastic and mesmerizing .....great musician
I think this somg was on the first album of his that I bought. Nobody has given me more entertainment in my 63 years than Frank Marino concerts albums and certainly i cannot be more thankful the stars aligned and his magic was captured. In recall lit clearly like it was yesterday a couple friends said he you gotta hear this. So on the living console magnavox johnny b goode. Never missed frank marino or little feat at the warner theatre in washington dc
I Was Lucky To Have A Brother In Law That Was Really Into Music And Took Me To A Styx Concert In St Paul Mn Frank Marino Warmed Up For Styx And When Styx Came Out On Stage They Were Booed Off The Stage Until Frank Marino Came Back Out On Stage And Played With Styx Wow What A AWESOME Guitar Player I Would Pay Any Thing To See Frank Marino Play Again I Have Seen All Kinds Of Concerts In My Time Here So Frank marino Was The Best Even Above And Beyond Led Zepplin 😄
God Bless You Mr.Marino, you use your God given gift to help others with great songs .The world is a better place with you playing your guitar and singing.Prayers for your health from North Carolina on the Outer Banks. We love you .God is with You
My Big brothers had your albums in his collection in the early 70s and the sounds off those records like talking bout a feeling ane dragonfly were amazing .just had keep putting that needle back on the dual turntable.God is with you Frank
Frank stands alone to me. He is a master engineer and technician who converts that into just fantastic guitar, musicianship, lyrics, and singing. A true treasure listening to him live
Masterclass then & still. The days of Mahogany Rush have past & a great legacy of music left for those that know & for those soon to find out just how great Frank & that band were . Like Trower & the players from our generation It never ceases to amaze us just how great these players are . Frank can play any style & rock our socks off or memorize us with such fine melodic intricacy. . No punches to pull just the best in contemporary Rock n Roll. Saw Mahogany Rush back in 1973 & 75 & it's not surprising Frank is still one of the best . No matter who he finds to play with he's never off in hearing their abilities to play behind him & let him do what he does best ... PLAY !!!!
I remember Frank from Boucherville high school in late sixties. He was a respected hard working artist back then. Always melodic. That SG with single pickups sounds real good🎯
@@majortwang He took some of those mods from John Cippollina ( Quicksilver Messenger service ) who usually tweaked the heck out of his SGs & they always sounded great. i have a 74 SG Standard with the Walnut finish but as a stock freak I've left it alone . Still sounds great after all these years. Care to hear it i will put a link up to an audio composition i did in 74 but didn't record it till 87 and on a TEAC 4 Track Reel To Reel. The SG was used for the rhythm track but you can hear how tight it is . Many slam Gibson these days but i still love mine & well the new ones can be either way ,you just have to play them till you find the right one . Please leave me a comment on my page or post if you wish . I do agree with you Frank was one one the hardest working musicians around & it's a shame he's had bad shoulder problems for some years forcing him to retire touring , i was lucky to have seen him back in the day. ua-cam.com/video/RHj04fFTrZI/v-deo.html
2023 Wed. 27th Dec 1201 Listings to one of the greatest guitar 🎸 players I have heard Timeless and his band are just cutting it 👍🏽🥝🇳🇿now a fan thanks 🙏 for making feel alive 😊
It's all been said in these numerous comments. Timeless, breathtaking, mesmerising, otherworldly etc etc. I have no idea where he connects to when he picks up a guitar - only the universe knows the answer to that. Beautiful beyond mere words. God bless you Frank.
I am 60 and have been playing guitar since I was 11. Of course I was influenced by EVH, Jeff Beck, Clapton, SRV & many others. But Frank was the one that blew my mind and had me practicing for hours a day. Still my favorite guitarist
Oh my freaking God I always knew about Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush never really paid attention. My sister had a friend in high school who was a guitar player two years younger than me but his brother is a phenomenal drummer named Joe Nevolo Who is one hell of a phenomenal drummer? You can look him up on UA-cam or anywhere and he played with this band with Frank and I never really listened to Frank or Mahogany Rush but now that I’m getting older, I was turned onto this and oh my God, it blew my mind where have I been all these years
Soul is indeed what makes music great, but fast scale runs mean a bit more than NOTHING. [EDIT: I should add that if you told a concert violinist or pianist that fast scale runs meant nothing as they prepared to perform Paganini or Chopin, they'd look at you as if you were a complete idiot - which, in that case at least, would be entirely justified.]
It's good to have the skill of anything you would like to do on the guitar. Fast runs have a place and are fun... if you can do them. They can be very melodic and soulful. Getting there is another story.
I saw someone post a tune from the DVD. I asked him if he really loved Frank to please take it down. To me this Man hasn’t earned nearly enough for the amazing music he’s provided for so many years. I’m telling you, I’ve seen him since 75 so many times live. I was so saddened when the tour got cancelled. But even worse was finding out he is not well. The DVD is worth more then money to me! It’s everything I thought and more! May God bless Frank. I’m praying for you. Thanks for making this trip called life so beautiful with your music! All love to Frank Marino! I’ve heard that he did more then the 6 hours released! I believe it. If it’s ever released I’ll buy that as well. Again, all respect, love and affection to the man!
I'm on a fixed income and I scraped together the cash to buy the DVD because Frank deserves it. Having said that I'm really glad the Internet is introducing Frank's music to new audiences. This vid had over 500,000 views how cool is that?
I honestly never thought this could be pulled off so well compared to the studio version, but...well...I was wrong! Been an admirer since your Don Kirschner performance, Frank. And I just watched THAT show to see Sabbath! Bought every album since!
Will never forget 1977 Cobo Hall Detroit MI, featuring Kansas, Mother's Finest and head liner Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Marino is up there on the guitar Mt Rushmore with Page, Clapton, Hendrix. But that's just my humble opinion. Continue to heal up and Stay Groovy
Hi Frank, You will and always have been #1 in my Book. I’m 63 now and have followed you since I was 12 Yrs Old. You are the Greatest Guitarist and Singer the World has known and will know about long into the Future. I hope you get well soon. I will definitely keep you in my Prayers. The most underrated gutarist, singer, songwriter, guitar toneist,.know body has his style swag, perfectionist his musicians he hand picks.he knows his pedals, father, family man to walk the face of the earth.....and most of all so Humble....I hope I didn't leave anything out.
This is what the term "musical artist" is really about. How is it possible that I've never heard of this person until today. Immense talent. Tasteful guitar that speaks. Soulful singing too.
Mahogany Rush was a band formed in the 1970's , Frank Marino is a founder member of that band . I listened to Mahogany Rush on Vinyl in the 80's , then found this video today . Totally awesome playing .
A Rocker initially and Frank does that very well. Here though you get the jazz chops which is so much demonstrative of his ability. Such a great guitarist.
AS a kid growing up in Detroit, I was blessed by all the concerts in the late 60s &70s,but one that stands out ,was Ted nugent ,Bobseger and mahogany Rush.. Ted & Frank had a guitar battle that was amazing.Around 1973 ,at the old Michigan palace.I would give my right nut to relive that night!!
FRANK IS BEYOND MOST. He Is a special talent. A one of a kind. The best guitarist I have ever seen! Playing fast runs does not make you an artist. Playing soul from the heart makes you great! Shredders need to learn that.
Oh Dude, Wow‼️ This is outa nowhere to just be Flippin through music & see YOU‼️ MAN Have I missed you & your magic fingers ✨️ I'm like a Baby hearin Lullabies...Rock me Rock me all night long 🎸🎶 I just walked out to say good night to this October full Moon 🌝 & my Earbuds were suddenly filled with A Sound I never forgot..it's you it's really you my old friend..you just made me WHOLE AGAIN 😁🎸🎶 ✌️😎 🎸🎶 I SAY LET IT RAIN‼️🌏🎶🎶🎶

One of the best guitarists on the planet and a wonderful human being to boot. Still praying for your healing And peace Frank.
Close your eyes and float off to a faraway place where all is well and guitars are in control
Wow what can u say this guy the band is totally the complete thing to have the gift to playing and singing the way he does I'm sure the angles in heaven smile when they hear his music got to love it play on Frank praying for the healing you need to cary on #1
Saw Frank and Mahogany Rush back in his heyday...couldn't hear for 3 days. I'd do it again.
Amen 🐝🌈💫
I commented if Under rated is ever gonna be used on Y/T It’s this guy. He’s a beast. I think part of the problem is his bands name. Rush- Mahogany Rush at 18 and stoned to the bone, who knew.lol.
@@fuzzybutkus8970 , I did!!! From the beginning. My best friend put me on to them in the early 70’s.
Get well?? Is he having health problems?
@@tonybarber420 , a debilitating shoulder as where he only had 50% movement and in constant pain.
In my heart for 45 years...
Legend musician...had the pleasure of being introduced to his amazing talent in the 70's ...
Thank you for this comment you said it the best!!
How did I get to 48 without hearing of this guy? First time I meet him, he melts my face clean off!!!
My 1st ever concert was Frank Marino & Mohogany Rush. Shreveport L.A., 1979.
Not so easy, close but not the same.❤🩹❤🩹
You can always go to Frank Marino audio and check out his new handmade custom pedals, you'd be one step closer to your goal for sure!
And that Kids , is how it's done . Thank You Frank .
Today's music doesn't have soul, Frank Marino always has soul !
Frank is best love his guitar playing Joe Martinez from Saint Paul Minnesota
What a fantastic version: guitar, voice, and the whole band. Better that the original on IV.
Love it.
Wow...mannnn....Frank Marino...Mahogany Rush....real music...
Why Gibson hasn’t come out with a Frank Marino signature SG yet I will never know.
4 Strat style pickups... a custom finish on his fretboard.... those are just the things I noticed... 45 years ago this guy was doing stuff I couldn't believe....!
I doubt Gibson would put a signature SG out that sounds like a Stratocaster ... bad for business.
@@DaleBrotherton Gibson has become a guitar manufacturing whorehouse...! They could use seymore's or DiMarggio's.. do a limited edition & make one big fat Mountain of $....!
Cuz he not a sell out , Gibson is not even made in America 👊🏼
@@stevelobianco6116 Mostly the Epiphone line but have you heard of the Gibson factory in Nashville?
Only just discovered this dude, wow what a genius player!
Franks Guitar Tone: Liquid Golden Honey for the Ears and Soul.❤
I wonder what Eric Clapton has to say about this magician ? Incredible !
I saw Frank for the first time in 1972 at Vanier college auditorium in montreal quebec....amazing then and still fantastic and mesmerizing .....great musician
The most underrated musician in the world. Frank is unbelievable.
WIITHOUT A DOUBT, ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED INDEED!!! 🖤🔥🤘🏼
Come on, let's be honest. This is the most musical thing on the whole internet.
We love you .God is with You
Haven’t jammed on him since high school back in 81. I think it’s time to check him out.
Awesome ness Badass cool breeze
My Big brothers had your albums in his collection in the early 70s and the sounds off those records like talking bout a feeling ane dragonfly were amazing .just had keep putting that needle back on the dual turntable.God is with you Frank
People who say he was a Jimi clone have no grasp of this man talent!
LOVED Frank's band Mahogany Rush back in the 70's!! "Norwegian Wood" was one of my favorites!!
Frank and mahogany rush great music and the guy just got better
Thanks Frank for all the great music
That is one of most amazing performance's that I have ever seen..
PLAY !!!!
👊
You really spoke the Truth!
well said I miss those days!
Great example of the guitar solo serving the song.
I swear there's a magic in his music that brings me there to the beautiful past I've never lived through ...
Super strong playing, sweet unique tone, builds his solos to crescendo!
2023 Wed. 27th Dec 1201 Listings to one of the greatest guitar 🎸 players I have heard Timeless and his band are just cutting it 👍🏽🥝🇳🇿now a fan thanks 🙏 for making feel alive 😊
Got to see him and Mahogany Rush in Santa Monica back in the early 80's. Fantastic show ❤
It's all been said in these numerous comments.
His not just one of the best guitar players of all time but also one of the best singers as well.Just an amazing unique voice.
Absolutely enjoy his singing!
Oh my freaking God I always knew about Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush never really paid attention. My sister had a friend in high school who was a guitar player two years younger than me but his brother is a phenomenal drummer named Joe Nevolo Who is one hell of a phenomenal drummer? You can look him up on UA-cam or anywhere and he played with this band with Frank and I never really listened to Frank or Mahogany Rush but now that I’m getting older, I was turned onto this and oh my God, it blew my mind where have I been all these years
Perfect example of Frank's brilliant diversity of guitar mastery. MESMERIZING!
Amazing how these great guitarists can play a long song like this and not mess up somewhere hitting the wrong string or fret.
I challenge any shredder to play like this and sing. FAST SCALE RUNS MEAN NOTHING. Soul is what makes music great.
What a voice & man oh man can he Riff it up 🩵🩵🩵
I think god touched this man’s heart and soul bless you frank
Agreed
Just had a BD he did, all the best at 69 years old sir.
Very well said Vince. I can't believe he didn't (and still doesn't) get the airplay his music deserves. People are missing out.
Me too, Vince! He is incomparable.
I'm on a fixed income and I scraped together the cash to buy the DVD because Frank deserves it. Having said that I'm really glad the Internet is introducing Frank's music to new audiences. This vid had over 500,000 views how cool is that?
@@DaleBrotherton thanks. It’s great to meet a fan!
@@bluenoteone simply incredible. It’s just too cool we lived in a time when his and some other music was going on! Nice to meet you
I honestly never thought this could be pulled off so well compared to the studio version, but...well...I was wrong!
It's been a long time since I have heard anything in the popular music culture that I was moved to call "beautiful music. Now I have.
This DVD is worth every cent
Let's hope Frank makes a miraculous recovery and gets back on stage.
Hi Frank, You will and always have been #1 in my Book. I’m 63 now and have followed you since I was 12 Yrs Old. ..back in the 70’s Mahogany Rush..hypnotized me to the point i had to find an SG like Frank’s…
Hey Frank I miss you!!!!🎶🎶🎶☮️
Entire band flows bass drums and him and the rest beautiful sound
This is what the term "musical artist" is really about. How is it possible that I've never heard of this person until today. Immense talent. Tasteful guitar that speaks. Soulful singing too.
Mahogany Rush was a band formed in the 1970's , Frank Marino is a founder member of that band .
I listened to Mahogany Rush on Vinyl in the 80's , then found this video today . Totally awesome playing .
I have been trying to turn people onto him since the 70s. Incredibly versatile player.
@@-Atmos1 Unfortunately, I think the other Rush kind of took all the plaudits away from them because their music was more accessible.
Check out Tales of the Unexpected by Mahogany Rush. It s probably on youtube. You won t be disappointed
Remember mahogany rush from the 70's. Thank you for this.
Omg first time hearing im a big fan now keep on rocking frank your awesome
Talent beyond comprehension. IHe defined my teenage years and to this day . I'm in tears of joy listening to this in 2023 . We LOVE YOU FRANK 🖖👌✌️👃🖕
FRANK IS BEYOND MOST. He Is a special talent. A one of a kind. The best guitarist I have ever seen! Playing fast runs does not make you an artist. Playing soul from the heart makes you great! Shredders need to learn that.
I never get tired of hearing & watching this 👍
