Frank is 1 of the best guitarists out there to me! So many styles within his grasp. Blues Rock & Jazz. See him in concert if possible. You will be blown away...!!!
WELL SAID BROTHER ! HAVE SEEN HIM IN THE 70S AND WOW!!!!! MIND BLOWING, JUST LIKE MY MIND WAS AT THE SHOW!!! JUST FUKN FANTASTIC!! BACK THEN HIM AND MICHAEL SCHENKER WERE IT FOR ME!!
To everyone who knows and understands music. It's not all about radio play other you musicians know how badass is. True fans of the guitar know how good he is so underrated worldwide
Max Rico I think he's in the top 5 best rock guitarists of all time. He will never get the credit because he was never a sellout like most were/are. All his albums simply rock hard with great guitar times
I've been a fan of Frank's since around 1976. He's an even better guitar player now than he was in the 70s! Hand down, one of my favorite guitarists of all time. My wife is getting me the Agora Theater DVD and book set for my Christmas gift! The man has no boundaries with his music and that's why I love it. Pure genius. I'll never forget hearing the song "Strange Universe" as a kid of 12, it blew my mind and the melody has been embedded in my mind and soul forever. Thank you Frank!
Absolutely epic. I think a lot of guitarists should take note of the phrasing techniques of Mr. Marinos playing. He was quintessential in the early 70's and is STILL relevant today.
An amazing guitar player, fast as they come but with a load of soul and feeling. He was ahead of his time with his tone in the 70's. His sound is what we all strive for. That's the Power of Rock and Roll Frank!
I have been a huge fan of Frank Marino most of my adult life . Thankful I saw Mahogany Rush in Lubbock TX with Black Sabbath and Nazareth Around 1980 - 81 AMAZING live performance !
Have loved your playing since my high school days in the mid to late 70's. Turned many people onto your sound for years and they were blown away... Keep rocking Frank...
Turned on to Frank in 1978 as a young lad Finally had the pleasure of experienceing his genius live House Of Blues Chicago 2002 A monumental night for Tripper and me You are , without a doubt, one of THE BEST , out there ! Please keep rocking our universe Mr Marino
Don't get me wrong!! I love all the new Rock/Metal/Blues stuff out there! Amazing bands around the world. But Frank Is something else THIS IS MUSIC !!!! ;) Rock On Frank.
F'n A bro .. if this is the real Marino channel.. Hope he reads comments cause your legacy will always chew every guitarist from past, present and future to smithereens :) One day they may wake up until and realize your greatness but I doubt they'll ever be able float their minds that high. Your timing and rhythm and kick ass spirit is to be worshiped. Only you and HendriX ever took me to that place. A huge thanks, cat!
Frank Marino, one of the greatest guitarists I have ever heard. Not just in rock, but I'd put him up against many more regardless of music styles. He has actually improved even over the past, why? He certainly didn't need to. But if you stop growing, you die. I know, after 46 years of being a musician, I'm never satisfied with my own performance, it always needs improving.
He shreads pentatonic scales out of his mind. And all the modes and Hungarian minor. Badass dude and a super nice guy a close friend of mine met him back stage he said he was the most gracious musician he ever met.
Frank Marino has always been such an inspiration to listen to. Back in my 'rock'n'roll' period of playing he and Eddie Van Halen were like gods to me. :D
Frank is my god, I can't understand how he's not more valued as a guitarist. He must be the most underrated of all time in the rock/blues/jazz genre, particularly among musicians like SRV and Hendrix.
Caught Frank's shows in the DC area at Cap Centre, Wax Museum and JAXX. Always top notch vocals and guitar. His speaking voice doesn't give away what he can do vocally. His soloing during "Back Door Man" is to die for. He truly left the era of Rock, Blues, and Psychedelia music a better place than he found it.
I saw Frank Marino at Cal jam in 1978, I was 17 years old and trying to play guitar like Ted Nugent, who incidentally was at the same two day concert. and then as we were leaving early at the end of the Concert, we heard the opening riff of jonny b Goode, and came back in to the Concert, and I swear to god, to this day, i have never heard a more intense rythmatic, masterful genius, and with the stamina he has by working his hands, to make such Incredible sounds, and songs. I especially liked the jazzy blues riffs In, I'm a king bee. Does anybody know of an Urban legend of Frank Marino, ripping Ted Nugent in a guitar off? Heard that years ago, 40 to be exact..I have been playing guitar for 43 years and have taught my son and grandsons, because of Inspiration I have for his talent. Much thanks frank, in the 70s we barely had wall phones, no computers, and no way to tell people like these artists, that we deeply enjoy them...
WOW! Thank You Frank for not only demoing these pedals and showing the proper applications, but for all the Awesome, Inspirational Music and for being a Living, Iconic Guitar Hero!!! Keep On Making Music to brighten the world up!
AWESOME!!! FRANK KILLS IT AT 7:13! Reminds me of one of my all time favorite guitar solos on Ditch Queen. Way ahead of his time and still just fantastic!. These new guys can't hold a candle to Franks command of the sextuplets and his searing hot molten iron ripping. Right On Frank!!!
frank i love you man, you are the best of the best.i have never ever heard a guitarist that can solo for 20 mnutes on one single song. so happy to see frank still doin' it.
Frank Marino I MISS YOU!!! WTF happened to rock and roll? I learned your riffs as fast as i could get the albums especially the live stuff. Had to slow the riffs to 33 1/3 just to get the moves! I thought you was a robot for a while! TOUR PLEASE! You are what the world needs! Frankie YAY!!!
The "Formula Sound" desk from Strawberry Studios in Stockport, UK. I have it's sister console. Both are populated with Helios mic pre/eqs. Great sounding stuff. Both Desks in Canada!
a) I never knew I needed one, but I have never before wanted an SG with single coils so bad in my life.. b) man, Frank is even better (and chill) than I remembered, and that's really saying something, saw him all the time in the 70's in St. Louis and was consistently blown away and c) I haven't had this much fun reading youtube comments in a while, I think I may have just found 'my people', lol - brilliant!
Frank you were once inspired and you've never stop doing it, one day they will pay you a tribute for all that brilliant guitar work legacy that you have contribute
Hey Frank, grew up listening to your music. Thanks man ... Also recently played with your brother Vince, here in Vancouver during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics (street busking) and he is also a very talented guitarist! Peace ...
WOW THANK GOD FOR THIS MAN. TRULY AN AMAZING PLAYER!! UP THEIR WITH ALL THE GREATS, NO QUESTION ABOUT IT!! AM I RIGHT FELLAS ??? KEEP GOIN FRANK AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THE AMAZIN GUITAR WORK!!
As much as technology may be a bane at times, I am thankful I can actually watch a video of one of my respected influences demonstrating gear instead of just reading about it in some magazine. Dig the pig pedals! Tone reminds me of being rather plexi-ish and beyond. As always Mr. Marino - inspiring! Thanks!
Thanks for the memories. Just listened to Strange Universe on headphones and decided to see what was on YT. Wish he had done more pro-shot vids back then. Dear music...
holy crap..he's fantastic. so many cats on YT trying to show off how soulful they are with a Gibson, I've seen about 100 of them today, and this cat blows them all away by miles.. what a star.. I need to look up some of his old sogs
Great sounding pedal , and a superb demo by a true musical Legend ...Sir Frank Marino ! Now THATS how a demo is done right. Thank you kindly , Frank .... that's some seriously useable tone from that unit. Your tone and playing is always at the top of the heap bro !
First heard Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush in 1976...Jonny B Good live. California Jan 2 I believe. Saw them every time they came to the Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY. I have to say the man is amazing to say the least. Amazing technique. Still have the albums. FM& MR live...in my top5!
Long time no see lol. I was that kid you didn't notice way back when you had just bought your first mixing board. I was one of the guys with your brother Norman at your dad's place. Your dad was so proud of it and you. I just subscribed to your channel .. I still am haunted by your solo in Buddy :)
I stumbled onto this compressor about a year ago (the original one). I don't use the grit control. But the blend knob & treble control really set this compressor apart. Blending a bit of my original signal back in brings back the low end, the treble control brings back the treble other compressors squeeze out. Endless sustain ala Frank Marino or Carlos Santana. Very cool compressor that has a small footprint.
God bless you Frank!! Jesus speaks through your playing. Never have i been so moved by a Guitarist. My most favorite experiance Was camping in the Mountians In New Mexico at night, looking At the billions of stars and listening to "World Anthem" Shortly afterward i was Saved!!!
Frank, thanks for showing us your insight on equipment. I'd love to hear your thoughts on delays and modifiers. By the way, when I was 18 and a learning to play back in '78, I was such a big fan of your playing I bought my first guitar: a '68 SG Std for $650. Still have it and it's the best investment in equipment I've ever made.
Yeah, and "Ain't Dead Yet" , "Requiem For a Sinner" solos & sounds etc etc... Also incredible stuff on Mahogany Rush IV album... Wish he'd make a tutorial video someday.
Frank is the Best !!!!!!!!! never enough recognition to a talent such as his !
We need a Frank Marino signature SG.
Absolutely!
YES!!!! i would buy one. Any idea what single coil pickups he uses in that SG?
stbreal it's a SG Melody Maker but super modded with single size p90's
I agree!
Gibson probably doesn't want to go Fender on one of it's most iconic models
Frank Marino...one of my all-time favorite guitar players!! Thank you for all the years of inspirational music Frank!!
Saw him/them in 77 along with Black Sabbath and Nazereth. He stole the show
KING BEE badest blues solo by him. Frank is the best in terms of being able to play a lot of styles
To everyone who knows and understands music. It's not all about radio play other you musicians know how badass is. True fans of the guitar know how good he is so underrated worldwide
Total beast, fuckin rights!!
I saw Frank at the Monsters of Rock - Day on the Green at the Oak. Coliseum in '79. He was the best guitarist playing that day! So underrated.
I was there as well. Close to front and soaked by rain.
Frank Marino is so BAAD ASS!!! He's one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!!!
Max Rico I think he's in the top 5 best rock guitarists of all time. He will never get the credit because he was never a sellout like most were/are. All his albums simply rock hard with great guitar times
tones
I'm buying - love that cleanish - crunchy tone. Thanks Frank
I've been a fan of Frank's since around 1976. He's an even better guitar player now than he was in the 70s! Hand down, one of my favorite guitarists of all time. Frank Marino in Mahogany Rush, one of the best concerts ever, Frank is a master guitar player.
Stories of a Hero, one of the most epic solos of all time. Wonderful.
you were a massive influence to me as a kid back in the 70s. Im glad to see you still pumping out the tunes brother.
One of the main reasons I play the way I do (or try) is because of this man. THANK YOU, Frank. Very cool gear too.
We are lucky to have this guy to do this. He's a legend!
Frank, you're the Guitar God, followed you from the late 70's till forever, it'd be an honor to meet you!

Wow! If this is recent, Frank is looking good! Such a stellar player...responsible for many a blown-out stereo speaker back in the day.
It's amazing how he can go full blown on the gain and you can still hear every note. He's a master!!

Who in their right mind gave this thumbs down? I mean really! This is the awesome Frank Marino and these pedals are fantastic!
Damn! Is this man the Guitar MONSTER, or WHAT?!?!?!?!
He shreads pentatonic scales out of his mind. And all the modes and Hungarian minor. Badass dude and a super nice guy a close friend of mine met him back stage he said he was the most gracious musician he ever met.
Yes. He is.
Frank Marino is one of the most under rated guitar players and is one of the best guitar players this planet has ever seen.
Frank Marino, Lance Lopez, Al DiMeola, Gary Ritchrath, Jon Butcher. You guys rock. Luv ya,,
Frank Marino has always been such an inspiration to listen to. Back in my 'rock'n'roll' period of playing he and Eddie Van Halen were like gods to me. :D
Saw Mahogany Rush in Tampa, when they were recording the live album, it was probably one of the BEST concerts I ever saw.
My all time favorite guitarist.
Some cool pedals there. Thank you!
This is better than any concert,Frank is amazing!
Thoroughly love Frank Marino's guitar playing! Great chops!
Frank is my god, I can't understand how he's not more valued as a guitarist. He must be the most underrated of all time in the rock/blues/jazz genre, particularly among musicians like SRV and Hendrix.
