Since the beginning of time man has pondered what happens when our physical body dies. Some believe we go to Heaven. Others doubt its existence entirely. Then there are those who have had near death experiences and live to tell their stories. This composition starts delicately as peacefulness returns to the soul. It intensifies as we approach our new consciousness, constantly modulating between the two as we gain knowledge of our new surroundings. (4:45)

I remember I had the flute solo at the beginning and my nerves hella kicked in to the point where my vibrato was on point
goated
that’s what happened in my district band audition lol one of the judges came up to me later and said “congratulations btw i loved the vibrato” and i was like 👁👄👁
@@image0png aye thanks pal! 👍🏼😁
@@katrusso omg that’s amazing!!!
This really proves that being nervous can be a good thing💀
I played this my freshman year of high school, I’m a freshman in college now, and I literally cried as soon as I heard the first notes🥺🥺😭😭😭😭😭
I got to meet Galante as he came to conduct a childhood remembered at my school
@@OldBeezer tis a vibe indeed
That’s one of my favorites of his. Makes me feel nostalgic
Those horn parts are amazing.
Played this song last year for band at state for Oregon, and we got 3rd place, this year were playing red rock mountain, also by Rossano Galante, and we hope to get 1st place
Good luck! :)
OH MY GOSH i played red rock mountain 2 years ago (and got 1st yeeeee), and played afterlife last year! obviously my band loved the red rock and decided to play another one from him :D
Omg played red rock for uli this year 😊
has to be one of the most emotional pieces of all time
Other than With Quiet Courage by Larry Daehn. Also a good one!
@@cripmusicongfrfr I'm a fan of One Life Beautiful by Julie Giroux
@@js_injection3978 Also a good one!
@@js_injection3978exquisite taste.
every time i listen to this piece i bawl my eyes out like this piece is so moving, props to Galante he is a musical genius
Song hit all the nostalgic parts of my brain
I had to relearn the oboe for this piece, and now I'm back on that as my primary instrument.
I play the oboe too
Yay!! Oboe pals!
im playing the drums on it right now🙄
Wonderful song... We are doing this for our band concert. One of my favorites. Absolutely beautiful...
I teared up, man
I played this at graduation for the class of 2017 and I want to play it again in college band
Im playing the flute part in grade 8 and its such a beautiful piece i love it
literal goose bumps this piece is so beautiful
Such a lovely piece
Such a nice band piece!
So we’re just not gonna talk about the fact that euphoniums get a cool part
Yes
Euphonium part at 2:08, but every part of this song is cool if you can play every instrument😎
I never played this song with a group but I found it on smart music and I played first alto saxophone and I loved my part when ever I played the 32nd notes I felt like I was gonna die but they are easy because they are like at sixty-seven beats per minute I think
I would love to play this song with a group
Like an afterlife to red rock mountain
my favorite parts:
1:36 - 1:53
2:05 - 2:35
3:02 - end (my most favorite)
Same tho
you thought your part was boring but i play piccolo :)
Alyssa Stried I play triangle
Basically a meme it depends on the piece but honestly it is the damn truth.
Not me having to learning how to play this for my concert in 2 hours
This is my piece I’m conducting for my final assessment for my basic conducting class, and the conducting makes my arms super tired.
Ok dony get me wrong this is such an amazing piece, but noone talkin bout measure 17 with the saxophones😭😭
2:05-2:35, best part
I think that is definitely one of the best parts
This reminds me of Mulan
Reminded me a bit of Pocahontas
This piece kinda sounds like something from Once Upon a Time combined with Home Alone to me 🤷♀️
I swear. Everyone I’ve showed this to had sworn they’ve heard this in a movie before. Can anyone name the movie it’s from. Or what it’s similar too???
Gibsoad Studios i remember my friend talking about it too, let me get back to you
Gibsoad Studios Galante’s writing style is quite cinematic, so this is probably why! but if you do find out the name of a movie that sounds similar lmk :)
Storey Claire my band teacher ended up messaging him and he said it wasn’t based off of anything in particular. So honestly for him to come up with a melody that’s original but familiar...genius
Gibsoad Studios I agree! he’s definitely become one of my favorite composers after playing this piece. I would recommend listening to some of his other stuff, another favorite of mine is called the falls. definitely would recommend
Gibsoad Studios I doubt this is what you were thinking but for a bit I heard some familiarity to the Disney Pocahontas movie😂
okay, there's this, but there's also this song but with singing, and I need to find hte name of it >:I
I know this is late but are you talking about Winds of Change by Randall Standridge?
Dude needs to give the trombones more fun parts
Right with you man
There are hardly difference between the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd clarinet parts. They may as well make it one part.
2x2cuber14 if you think that seems similar look at ride the melodies are the same but the notes are different
