Literally one of the best pieces I have ever heard. Especially the part when the time signature changes from 4/4 to 5/4. So epic and very emotional. Well done Rossano.
Amit Kleinman I absolutely agree with this statement. Especially when the Trumpet plays. The Tuba aids in providing such a moving line (I'm a Tuba player so I always listen for Tuba).
Guess after 5 years I can brag... this piece was commissioned for my High School (East Stroudsburg High School NORTH) Band. Our band director had selected Mr. Galante for many reasons but I’m sure 1. our first chair senior euphonium player loved his compositions (he actually ended up having Mr. Galante write a mini score for a film project he did later in college) and 2. Mr. Galante’s famous lyrical concert band writing for the horn. I won’t forget the day my band director called me into his office to inform that he had just received the score and he told me “I made sure to tell Mr. Galante that we have an exceptional horn player so in the opening 6 bars he has you with the main theme and and only a few bars later has you go up to a high A... good luck😉”. Proud to have come from a school with such a fine music program. So for the rest of you Principal Horn players doing this in high school... my turn to say good luck and have fun❤️
My band director tells me to play that super loud cause I’m the only euphonium. Even then, I still get heard and could outplay the entire band if I wanted to. #euphgang
my senior year, this song was what we were playing. as a french horn player, a band nerd, and music lover, i was so so excited. and then covid hit and we never got to perform it. and we had it down to a tee. forever heartbroken when i hear this song, but also given so many memories. this will always be a favorite.
Playing percussion in this was a real treat. My sophomore year at high school this was our closing song, and it brings me the near tears every time I listen to it.
@@jonathanriggs6599 true but all the high notes and jumps in the song is very difficult on the horn. I’m not saying the saxophone is an easy instrument (it’s not) but what I’m trying to say is that the horn part my be the same as sax part but like I said all the jumps and high notes are very hard for horn players
I did not realize this song was 6 minutes, even though I've been playing it in band for a couple months. I guess I just love the song so much, that I never think about the time.
played this piece my freshman and senior year in high school-favorite piece I ever did play for sure. can't listen to it without a couple tears coming to my eye, even all these years later. outstanding composition by Mr. Galante.

@@roo8247 I love that part too. Too bad it's only the first trumpets playing the more melodic parts, otherwise I'd be playing it. I only get to play one triplet as a second trumpet.
Completely forgot about this dude's pieces, but wow are they great! Every Rossano Galante piece I played back in my band days felt like an epic film score, and they turned out to be some of my favorite songs throughout high school band (heck, I was watching these videos back then, too, hoping my band would pick up The Falls!). I played Afterlife with a concert band in my county, then I was slated to play the clarinet solo in Red Rock Mountain at 1:40 with my high school band, but the concert got canceled because of COVID (this was back in 2020). It's crazy to think that time flies this fast, though -- seven years since this got recorded and four years since that concert (I can hardly believe this as I type it out). I feel old (and nostalgic) already.
This song is so beautiful. I’m an eighth grader and I was second chair in Allstate. I’m REALLY hoping that we’ll play this in high school next year because I’m recommending it.
5:35. This phrase is one of those very rare moments I had when during a performance, we were exactly on the same wavelength. I've never heard an emotional resonation like that since. Still makes my hair stand up.
Ok you remember the josh fight? Just post something similar a year or half a year in advanced, post random coordinates and a random score, specifically this one, and just wait. It will probably work or probably fail, but I bet so many people just want something like this experience again. I know I want to just go back to being in my band class lol
I'm doing this song for band UIL and I love it, I listen to it like 1,000,000 times a day since like December and I never get tired of it. I play tuba by the way.
This is an amazing song. My sister showed me this. Like wow every piece is beautiful. She's in band, and said the highschool played this... At first I was like "Am I listening to a movie soundtrack like Anastasia or something?"😅
Played this two years ago, still one of my favorite pieces of music..but i swear everyone in my class got ptsd from all the work we put into it. Now, most of the flutes from that band have bad memories when they play low bflat f to high bflat. (I am one of said flutists)
