LOL! Episode 3 is the WORST episode of the entire series. Terrible pacing, and that makes it really slow. It had very little to do, and everyone should have shown more emotion than they did. The humor is also mostly gone. Worst episode so far, and episode 4 is much better!
Anyone else think Logan dying was all some elaborate test for like 75% of the episode? I think that just speaks to how powerful of a figure they were truly able to make him, so much so that he seems invincible.
that was me. i watched so many shitty shows with "plottwists", death fakeouts and such that i genuinely was waiting for the "catch" for the majority of the epiosde.
Episode 3 was pure genius. Episode 4 was all we could have wanted a follow up to be. When Ken looked at the document on his phone, it looked more crossed out than underlined to me. Everyone saw what they wanted to see.
Someone said on reddit, and I agree, that it doesn't really matter if the writers wanted that to act as a theme or not. But what's good about art is its subjective and everyone will have their own interpretations. However, that scene is just brilliant, regardless of coincidence or not. Ken will forever be in this dilemma. Whether "he really liked me" or not. whether it was underlined, Logan really wanted him to take over, or it was crossed, Logan initially wanted it to happen, but later thought it was a bad idea. As Frank said when Ken asked if Logan wanted this, "Sometimes he wanted you to take over", and whether Kendall uses that to his advantage or not is up to him.
When Connor said “ I never got the chance to make him proud of me.” I burst into tears. As a son with a successful father I felt that on a tremendous level. I think the mastery in how they did this episode is that we didn’t see him go or even begin to. It was sudden and no one actually saw anything. We rarely see people in their final moments if it’s sudden. Logan didn’t die, we lost him. That’s how the show made us feel imo.
As great as episode 3 was, episode 4 represented everything we have been waiting for all those years. Internal infighting with the siblings; Power moves by a ruthless Marcia; The senior executives scurrying to vie for the main position, stabbing one another with a pinched smile; PR people already at work, without batting an eye, utterly unaffected It was divine, plot-wise! And the apartment was so much brighter and alive than all the episodes where Logan has been in it. I love that set design and stage lighting choice!
And people are surprised, but this is what Logan trained all his kids to do. Take advantage of the opportunity ahead of them and crush the competition. The cycle continues.
couldn’t agree more! also cool that you also noticed how the lighting was vastly different now that Logan is gone… what an amazing show we all were lucky enough to stumble upon.

Logan is actually gone, it’s officially every man for themself. The Will and Trust reading is going to be interesting. Who will be executor? Does Marcia keep her Double Voting Rights? Will Greg or Tom get anything from the estate?
The question is when did he last update everything? You'd think Tom would be in there after he married Shiv (or maybe after he fucked over the kids). Either way, he wrote (Greg?) on the will so if he did that, then Tom is definitely on the will.
Unfortunately a friend spoiled this for me before I started the series but it still hit insanely hard. This show has some of the best writing and acting out of anything I've seen

Tough call! Last night's episode was peak Succession - tragedy, comedy, power shifts, camaraderie, straight up backstabbing - this will be the greatest season of the show. Also, it's very interesting how all of this has happened in 3 days in the show's time.
The cinematography is a lot like The Thick Of It or Veep. It's based on a silent observer type of thing where instead of being just a camera, you are a person in the room walking around watching what's going on and observing reactions. It's masterful stuff.
I would still put "This is Not for Tears" at the very top, because it's a perfect distillation of what makes this show special: it's hilarious, tense, heartbreaking, and shocking all at once.
the best scene in this show being a 30 minute tracking shot is unbelievable. perfect performances all around. and the prediction that Roman would go scorched Earth came true at the very end!

Great new episode ! It's interesting how all the cling ons are trying to position themselves for anything. Logans' last wife is really cold. I could be wrong, but I think Shiv's problem is going to be if she's pregnant. She totally is power hungry.
Damn!! I never thought I would feel so bad for Shiv....Sarah Snook is on a Absolute killing streak with her performance since the final season started💯💯
I'd say the election episode, or the funeral, were better. They all left me at the edge of my seat with constant goosebumps. After the election episode, I felt like I had just elected a neo nazi to be president of my house, for trivial business reasons.
I thoughy Logan:s death was perfectly portrayed. As in real life death is unexpected and without fanfare. Anyone who has lost a loved one could relate to this episode. It hurt.
Season 4 Episode 3 was my first introduction to this amazing show. If you watch S4e3 in a vacuum, not knowing anything about the show (only the premise), its a 10/10 perfection of an episode. The reason why its because it literally forces you to psychoanalyze everybody. Not only because of how they film the show, trying you to see and focus on every little detail of the characters reactions, but also because of the suspense of what happened. I literally thought it was one of the sons that killed Logan. The way Kieran Culkin acted throughout that episode made me think he was hiding something nepherious. My best theory was that Tom and Roman had successfully plotted to kill Logan and succeeded in doing it, but I ended realizing I was wrong when I caught up with all the seasons. And turns out I was wrong, Tom and Arnold were secretly discussing on talking to Gerri, to fire her. And Roman was just nervous about it, because he likes Gerri.

@Scene It Reviews yeah I agree that your title and intro are ambiguous. I guess all those popular video essayists with oodles of subscribers are just being silly by giving specific explicit spoiler warnings (or at least mentioning an episode number in the fucking title or intro) before they hit a big spoiler within the first 30 seconds Best to just hope everyone is on the same page as you about not accidentally interacting with your content for even 30 seconds unless they're fully caught up on a given show just in case your video is about any episode they haven't seen. (Lord knows fair warnings, while extremely common, are bad policy) And when ep 4, 5 etc come out they'll have to avoid this video too if they haven't seen it, just in case it's about those as well but hey that's just good youtubing! My fault for giving your video a chance, idk if that says anything good about your channel since we don't have to say that about other stuff out there but carry on
Conner was not really disregarded. He had nothing in common with his family. He is kinda weird and lives in a fantasy world. I would say that he didnt really try to be his father son. Yet, he was in the fold. He lives EXTREMELY WELL and had the nerve to complain. He never even liked him.... LOgan did like him. He just didnt respect him. And, honestly. What did Conner ever do to earn respect? This shows leaves me questioning so many things. Like, in this day an age of Gen Z, gender bending, constant outrage - how many parents today, can actually say that they love and respect their children??? Its a tough question. But I do think it reflects todays world. Logan grew up poor. He created a KINGDOM. Ken wants to be King, by stealing it. Can a warrior respect a thief? Have they ever? I dont see Logan as EVIL. As so many do. I see him as a man of his time. Flawed, Carnivore, Sharp Mind and Ruthless. And I see Kendal as a man of his time. Entitled, Soft, know it all, Participation Trophy Winner, Don Jr-ish, Drug Addict who just happened to be born with the right skin and last name. Ken thinks he is Logan 2.0. When he is really Walmart Brand Cola. A product of a successful corporation. And he is NOT A KILLER. He is a reactionary, emotional, petty brat. Going behind his sibs backs and destroying his fathers name OUT OF SPITE. Logan didnt make company decisions out of emotions. And I think Shiv is going to expose him. The only person Ken ever killed was that nice Kid in England.
The writers of Succession almost succeeded.. just like the Roy siblings but fell flat on their ass at the very end. They tried so hard to be different from other shows but ending up the same, with a flat, disappointing ending. The show was such a waste of time.
I think in a way they were cursed by their own writing, because the build-up with all of the nuance and structure of the preceding seasons and episodes really left them no way to end the show in a manner that was both satisfying and congruent. Seems like they painted themselves into a corner and they had to pick one or the other: either swing in a conclusive ending, which stands in stark contrast to everything that has come before OR continue with the tone and tenor of the show, and don't break with the narrative at all, but leave the audience feeling Hollow precisely because the overriding melody of the show is insecurity, instability, and chaos. Maybe a truly virtuosic writer would have found some magical way to blend these two, and in that sense maybe you're right that the writers just didn't have it.
