      I’m up in Winnipeg and I’ve been to a lot of courts and talking isn’t prohibited .in any courts.Sure we can’t have anything but water.But never a judge in session would tell anyone to be quite. Last week I’m sitting there and they bring the prisoner out and his wife’s in the seats and she had a 1and a half year old baby and she came to support her husband and the kid was screaming something real bad. But I guess the dad.(prisoner) wanted to see his kid and I thought for sure the judge would call a recess or ask the sheriff to remove the child and her mom. But no he never said one word to her the judge and he was young about 40 years old. And there’s lots of incidents like this in the courts. So I think if the let the kid in they know the kids not going to be quiet! But judge vonda slow down you don’t need to jump on anyone talking! Just Saying

      John Brandt she was a black woman before she was a judge, and she will be a black woman after she retires. If you can’t understand why she would tell that pig to be quiet during a trial involving the assault of a black man by uniformed police officers sworn to protect and serve citizens, then your emotional intelligence, as well as the direction of your moral compass, must be called into question

  • @TropicalChris
    @TropicalChris 9 років тому +102

    Damn she's good.
    But 10 months, really??? If a citizen beats up a police officer, they get 10-15 years minimum. But a police officer beats up a citizen, they get out in under a year...freaking pathetic.

    • @TropicalChris
      @TropicalChris 9 років тому +8

      +Dumebi2 Excuse my ignorance, but does that mean its all up to "good behavior" while in jail? Or another hearing will determine how long he should stay in that range?
      I think my bigger frustration is the fact that he is even given the opportunity for a minimum of 10 months. A citizen/tax payer would NEVER get the same kind of sentence if the roles were reversed.

    • @josephcharlessy2413

      +Crist Gord 10 months is a long time for a cop in jail full of people that more likely than not hate every fiber and being of his cop existence. But you're right, a longer sentense is a more fair sentence.

    Judge Evans, I've said it before and will again now. Police are their own culture. their own community. All their friends are cops. They socialize with just cops. There's more but that's enough right there. Ever since they started riding around in cars with the windows up they developed a us vs them mentality. Everybody is a perp. To protect and serve should be scraped off every police car in America. It's a meaningless feel good slogan.
    When cops used to walk a beat they knew the people in the area they covered. They interacted with them daily and were confided to about troublemakers and things going on. That car door and window glass put miles between them and the public. And I don't believe ANY amount of training will make up for what was lost with the introduction of the patrol car. If they don't want to walk there are alternatives and there's even the old standby.... horses. Cops got to be accessable and interacted with by the lawbiding public on a personal level. That's what is missing and needs to be rediscovered and reinstituted.
    And this racism too is covered up by glass and steel. It would have been readily apparent early on what he was like but the car door gave him a tool to hide it but the huge amount of complaints and charges are apparent too. Thankfully Judge Evans took this clown to task where others had done nothing maybe even pressured to not upset the boys in blue.

    Thirty minute speech about racism and then 13 months to ten years. So in 13 months he's eligible for parole. I bet if the black guy got out of his car and hit the cop once he'd be charged with attempted murder and spend ten years in jail. Criminal justice system is a joke.

    2015...how does this happen?

  • @terryrayc
    @terryrayc 9 років тому +1

    While I agree with the bulk of her statements, I do find an issue with her talking to the camera like she's on a TV show and the added effects with her hands and other motions. It's hard to find a judge impartial and removed from the case when she makes it's well known that she's not fully impartial nor removed. 10 months to 10 years is fine, it's a valid sentence based upon the guidelines but she used this case to make a statement while on the bench...that's improper. Yes I know I'm not going to be popular, but I'm willing to bet the farm had this been a white judge passing sentence to a black man in this manner there would be calls to have the judge removed.
    Now that all being said she is right, in 2015 or 2016 now we should be well past this type of actions on the part of the police and I'm glad we are showing cops they are not above the law.

    • @wes276
      @wes276 6 років тому +2

      Terry Carter what makes you think she’s biased? Furthermore, what makes you think she’s speaking at the camera? She didn’t look at it once. And as far as if it was a white judge sentencing a black criminal there would be calls to get him/her removed, dude with all the blacks getting stiffer sentences than similarly situated whites you know that’s a bullshit claim. Your comment is unpopular because it’s inaccurate.
