Hi Colin. This crown emulsion ,why did u chose to thin it 25%?How does it behave it u add less water,is the finish bad? I do fallow your recommendation 3.5l water to 10 l paint. Thanks

Hi mate I thin the crown primer undercoat 25% so that's 1 litre of water to 5 litres of primer , I find it sprays better with that mix .

Regarding emulsion it does depend on the brand you use for the the ratio mix .
So I do find Crown emulsion sprays best at a 20% mix so that's 2 litres of water to 10 litres of paint , mistcoat is 3 litres of water to 10 litres of paint.
Dulux contract matt is 3 litres of water to 10 liters and that's the same mix for mistcoat.
Dulux fast flow emulsion is 1.5 liters of emulsion to 10 litres of paint
Farrow ball is the same mix as the fast flo.
I do find that using graco tips that the above mixes work well , but use this information as a guide you might find by adding a little less or more water it will spray better for you .if your new to spraying then definitely use this mixes then athe more experience you get just tweak the ratios to find what works best for you . Hope this advice helps you

One more question Colin,if u don't mind.Apart from using 150 on plasterboard walls like u said,do I also have to sweep the walls before spraying?

How do you find the Crown for spraying. I use Dulux total cover for finishing ceilings and base coating walls. It's a bit looser and I find it flows a lot better than other brands through the sprayer with little or no tip clogs after thinning it down 10%. It seems to be aimed more for that role.

Hi Colin, do you always have to thin down emulsions for spraying? What if you are spraying existing paintwork in an older residential property?

depending on the brand of the emulsion. most contract emuslion you should do just because of how thick they are . but if your using farrow and ball you could use that straight its a very thin emulsion just like dulux fastmatt. so it does depend on the brand of emulsion you plan to use

Do you not strain your material before putting it through your sprayer?

No these paints are clean I've used them a few years now. Any new brand of paint I've never used before I would first strain just to see if they where clean or not.

Hi cam, how much do you load up for a standard door nd how much more material for walls compared to brush nd roll please.

hello james your looking at around 400ml to spray a door both sides but thats thinning down your primer undercoat by 25%. if its your own work you can thin it down to 15% which i think would make it about 500ml . to your second part of your question i would say between 5 to 10 litres depending on the size of the house like a 4 bed house you might need an extra 7 litres of paint italso depend on how much you thin your paint out. i thin down crown emulsion 25% and dulux 30 % ,if i was using farrah & ball it might only be between 10 to 15 % because of how thin the paint is , hope this helps

@@camdecorations9779 thanks does help. I am currently knocking down the paint by a bit, maybe 10 percentish. I am new to spraying, and in my first bits and pieces i loaded up allot of paint for the ceilings i did, but i realise now i was coming quite far onto the wall either side, also i could have pushed more out the hopper back into the tub. But we live and learn innit mate. Thanks for great info. I have my first big job spraying in big old house and i have 14 doors in it. Was struggling to estimate paint for it so has definitely helped. Thanks allot pal.
