I’m glad you spoke about the dry suit. I just bought my first one to get out a little earlier for spring run up north. How about a video on getting into and out of one, I’m finding it a little difficult lol. I practiced a few times the last 2 nights till I brake a sweat. Thanks
Good stuff man , When I find a ledge like that , which is rare in Oregon inlet , I try to put something down there but usually nothing I have is heavy enough to reach the bottom without going immediately sideways from the current. Most of the time , its just too strong for fish to want to stay there in it , but on the backsides of a point where the current wanes off , usually find some there. Our stuff is usually fishing in the 3 to 5 foots range. Lots of long cast , and fishing a lure back to the kayak. Fun stuff.
Fish your structure around slack water then !

Good forage source typically for the striped bass. Summer water temps are too hot combined with low dissolved oxygen is the problemZ

Our creeks here in dundalk are terrible, with the weeds from last summer dead covering the whole bottom in a nasty sludge every time you reel in your hook/lure is covered. weed problem getting worse by the year around here making it hard to catch a fish !
Having a warmer winter probably makes it harder for that too imo.

I was taught years ago that the broken stripes indicated some hybrid genes. Don’t know if that is true but the broken striped ones sure had a hybrid looking shape to me (stocky with small heads/mouths)
I’ve heard that too. Lots of genetic variations on stripers from river to river as well.

2:18 nursery stock fish IMO. 20yrs ago you never saw a broken line striper if you did it was considered a hybrid. Now on the Roanoke over 50% have broken lines but clearly aren't hybrids. A lot of the fisheries are reliant on hatchery restocking now I think that's what's caused the broken lines in the stripers.
Makes a lot of sense to me. I’m not sure how the hatcheries work in regards to gene pools and particular strains having “instincts” to thrive as well.

Looks like a good selection of nice sized fish. With so many channels to check out, is there much difference between any of them or are they all pretty much the same no matter how fast the current or how deep the water is?
All are different and have certain quirks or tidal phases they produce. The more structure the better usually.
@@EliasVFishing I guess I'll have to risk losing more gear as I tend to stay farther away from any structure/hidden deadfalls. I was just reading about people harvesting "sinker wood" in your area... sounds like quite a hobby much like fishing.

Those Stripers were fattys. They look totally different from what I see in Maine.
Where do you striper fish in Maine? I live in the bath area and last year I couldn’t catch a bass smaller then 21 inches around Casco bay tons of big fish around the islands farther out
