Hey Andy. Thanks for this video. I bought one of those filler necks after watching your other video. Reached out to Doug through email and bought the item through an Ebay link he sent. Great guy. Easy to work with him.
That's good to hear he has another way to sell those filler necks, I'd imagine his in box was getting full with all the people interested in his part. :)
Andy thanks for your informative videos, as a senior who still drives performance cars and would love to have a project like yours. My newer 19' GT350 is truly enjoyable in many ways , but my heart is still with the originals.
Andy, ref the starter issue: I ran into the same problem. Finally found out the reason. The key switch mechanism is held in place with the bezel on the front of the dashboard. Most people turn the bezel to meet the switch. However, if you put the bezel in FIRST and match the alignment slots, hold the bezel hard against the dash, then bring the switch forward and twist the switch, it will snap into place easier and you will hear a click when they match. I believe you must remove the steering wheel and gauge cluster, as I’ve never figured out how to do the ignition key replacement properly, otherwise. The ash tray removal manner just doesn’t allow enough room to exert strength and leverage to do the job. My starter would ‘stick’ almost every start. I realized I could turn the key slightly to back to stop the starter. And, you won’t scratch up the dash or bezel by just holding against the dash with hand pressure. You won’t need a set of pliers. For real Good luck on those key switch changes, all.
I did the same thing last SAT.....or I tried to. Backed the 66 GT350 tribute out, cranked her....let her warm up. Smelled a lot more gas than normal......my Holley mech fuel pump diaphragm had split in two...leaking fuel. Replacement of just the diaphragm is $65....may look at a cheaper alternative. Thanks
Hey there Andy, thanks for taking us for "a ride" in yer baby.. Love that road btw... I busted out laughing 😅 with yer comment on yer windows!!! I love working on my cars, driving my cars, not so much cleaning them.. Pig Pen, should be my nick name!!! On yer starter, if you'd look at the RPM, the gear drive went thru, during that weak moment, and ill advised drive, I"d think 🤔 about just replacing that starter..More content !!! Keep it as back up, and maybe do a breakdown and inspection video, during this winter, to keep yer face in front our phones... ? Thanks for sharing as always, keep at it brother 😉!!!
Thanks! So far the starter has been fine with zero issues, but I've got my eye on it just in case. I should pull it to check the teeth on the flywheel just to be sure everything is still happy. :)
Now that the money has been spent, I wonder if I should have done the 363 build I wanted a while back. It'd be nice to have a few extra ponies for essentially the same money. :)
Great Q&A video. That's one of the reasons why I didn't get the quick jacks. I'd like them and I think I'd find them useful, but the setup time is longer than I'd like. Some things are better off simple.
A 363 is the perfect balance between torque and quick rpm, I would not want more displacement, I would rather build a 8500rpm 363 with a Holley 950 Ultra XP, Winberg crank, etc. Then a serious engine needs a serious car including things like 315/35r17 Nankang AR1 on 17×11.5 -6mm BC Forged RZ02 wheels, etc, etc from a 40K - 80K build to 160K really fast. But a 6500 rpm 363 with road friendly 245/45r17 tires on 17x8 wheels, mid level suspension/brakes, is plenty to enjoy.
@@AndyKruseChannel What about T.A.R.E. wheels(TRANS AM RACE ENGINEERING) have 17×8 with 4.5 inch backspacing($380) and a blank($380) for custom backspacing like 4.75 inches if you need it, also a step up in quality and looks with a small step up in price over the Legendary wheels($250) sold at CJ Pony Parts.
@@gen1c8rs88 I looked into those, but I'm not wild about how expensive it is for custom backspacing. Also, I'm not wild about how the 17" wheel looks compared to the 18" wheel. If I were to go with 18s, those wheels would be a great option. :)
If you want more power change the cam , heads ,carburetor with smaller CC heads it will raise compression 58cc or 56cc not sure what you have . G Force T5 might be cheaper than a TKX , you might want to pull the starter and check out the flywheel and starter gear .
Hi Andy, Great video as always. This is the second or 3rd time that you have mentioned more "wear" on a 363 vs a 347. I have spoken extensively to Woody at Ford Strokers, Prestige and Ford Racing and I cannot for the life of me understand how this rumor has come about. Is there something in particular that leads you to keep saying this? I am putting a FRP 363 in my '65 and my buddy has had one for 12 years and it is tracked almost every weekend at COTA and daily driven with AC. No problems at all.
No personal experience, just parroting what I have read and heard. I imagine someone can build a 363 that would last as long as a 347 or any other bored and/or stroked SBF, but what compromises are made? Boring out a 302 block to 4.125" is getting those cylinder walls awfully thin, and I'm not sure that an engine would last as long as others with thicker cylinder walls. For someone to go through the effort and expense of making a 363, they're probably not limiting the car to going to the grocery store. I imagine those people are wanting the most from the engine and they plan to use it. There are probably some high mile 363s out there, but what's that recipe, because I'd want to see it. :)
Another nice video…question..you appear to be a tall guy? 6’ or more? Do you have the lowered seat pans or seat track extenders installed ? It appears you have good seating position and plenty of clearance to headliner. Thanks
Thanks! Yes to both, I installed the lowered seat pans in this car (I have a video for that) and I also installed seat track extenders (I have a video for that too). I sell the seat track extenders on my website, they're the best on the market! :)
I have had the bending on the starter stick before. Check your fly wheel through your inspection plate. You probably have chipped or busted teeth. After all the work and money you have in it, take 15 minutes to hand check your fly wheel. You can thank me later. 😉
I just bought a tkx for my 67 mustang. Working on collecting all the parts to upgrade. The stock t5 wasnt going to handle the 351w torq compared to the 302 I had before. Really like the channel. I live close to MMI so i get a lot of parts from Mike Maier as well. 👍
I drive my '68 yearlong, am I a bad owner? Part of me feels she should be out in the world living her best life, part of me wants to keep her pristine for as long as possible.

Yes!
I would love to watch it. You both guys have really excellent content and I really enjoy watching your stuff.

Thanks, will do!
I laughed out loud when you mentioned wrong tools, and then again when you used a shot of you using the wrong tool.
Keep ‘em coming! Love the content!

Where do I connect my vacuum gauge to?
The manifold vacuum port. :)

As I mentioned in that video of the gas filler tube, info on how to contact the person who makes it is in the description below that video. :)
