  • Operafest! An Afternoon at the Opera with the San José Symphonic Choir (SJSC) and Nova Vista Symphony - Music Director, Anthony Quartuccio conducting
June 4, 2023 - McAfee Performing Arts Center, Saratoga, California.
Mezzo-soprano ILARIA SACCHI was born in Bologna, Italy, and is among the most elegant and versatile interpreters of Italian opera, with a repertoire that includes major roles from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. Since her debut in 1998 in Milan, her wide, flexible and intense vocal style has allowed her to sing a varied operatic repertoire, from Rossini’s operas, including Il Barbiere di Siviglia and La Cambiale di Matrimonio, to more lyrical works such as Cavalleria Rusticana (Lola), Rigoletto (Maddalena), La Traviata (Flora), and Carmen (Carmen). She also specializes in “alter ego” roles such as Amneris (Aida), Bouillon Princess (Adriana Lecouvreur) and La Zia
Principessa (Suor Angelica). Ms. Sacchi’s repertoire includes an extensive array of sacred music, as well as chamber music and lieder. She teaches voice and opera in Italy, and is the artistic director of the cultural association La Collina delle Fate, arranging original staging and readings of opera and theatre.
This unforgettable afternoon of breathtaking music and soaring voices showcases some of the most beloved opera choruses ever written, performed by an exceptional group of musicians featuring San Jose Symphonic Choir, De Anza College Chorale and Vintage Singers under the direction of IIan Glassman, DMA, Conductor. Soloists Soprano Karli Sharp, Mezzo Soprano IIaria Sacchi and Tenor Raul Villasenor under the direction of Anthony Quartuccio, Music Director - Nova Vista Symphony.
The beautiful aria Una Voce Poco Fa (A Voice A While Ago) describes Rosina pining for her Lindoro, whose voice she heard, and proclaiming that she will have him, no matter what. Lindoro turns out to be the Count in disguise; he and Rosina successfully marry, and everyone ends happily, after many twists and turns.
