You are a king! a genius!! i can't thank you enough. -- i had mistakenly locked my keys in the trunk. to make matters 'real REAL bad' i had locked the trunk, using this interior fixture that you describe. how was i to get my keys out of the trunk. i looked at 10 other videos. i thought that i could, somehow, get the back seat down -- NOPE. One video even described how to take the seat out, piece by piece. - NOPE, no good. I was resigned to call a locksmith and spent about $150. Phooey. Double Phooey. Well, i found your video, went into a store at the mall, got a screwdriver on loan, went back to the car and everything you describe worked FLAWLESSLY EFFORTLESSLY. I 'pried up' the lock and wiggled the cable. My trunk opened :) !!! You are a king, a scientist, a wonderful person, a really smart person. And, you are a person that makes the clearest 'how to' video that i have ever seen. THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH. YOU ARE A GENIUS, A KING ...
I commented yesterday but I didn't see it today. Guess what. I followed your video and it worked! My trunk opens and shuts again. That was word for word and at age 70, female and determined it was right on the button! Thank you so much!
My car is currently at the shop but I can't wait to get it back so I can fix it. Thank you Edit: I got my vehicle back from the mechanic and I fixed this trunk issue myself! I feel so accomplished and can say that this is not the last thing that I'll save $100+ bucks on to fix!
I locked my keys in the trunk on my vacation thank you for posting this video but not just for me but for my family. Thank you!!! This latch only lasted a few months but didn’t actually become a problem till now
Just bought a 2007 Accord in perfect condition, this was the only thing not working in the car, now it's fixed thanks to your tutorial. Amazing video :)
Thank you for this. It works on a 2013 Accord Sport too. Appears to be the same mechanism. Only difference in the 2013 was it was more difficult to get under the lock to pry it up and I instead had to gently pry up under the top of the lock -- under the top part about the size/shape of a quarter.
@@DavidLee-py2kv Good question. I believe the rear trunk lock cylinder access is not affected by the front lever being locked. That shouldn't stop the trunk latch from being opened by the rear key mechanism...
I have lost the cover that you removed in order to fix the lock. Any idea what the part number is (or how to find) so I can get a replacement? Having a hard time finding. Thanks!
Omg I had dropped something important under the trunk/gas lever and it went alllll the way down u fee when I tried to grab it with my fingers I pushed it further and I watched this video which really helped me because I took the lock out and popped the panel off and was able to get my stuff that fell in there 😅
Actually, when I first got the car I was able to open the trunk just by pressing the button on the trunk itself and at one point something changes and now I can only open it either by using the keys or the button which is displayed in the video. Anyone else with a similar issue?

Thanks for this video. Helped me repair the non-working lever for trunk release
I’ve had my trunk button locked for a while now but now thanks to this video it actually worked hell yea thank you
Glad to help 👍🏼
The trunk button on your key fob?
OMG THIS WHOLE TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS A MECHANICAL ISSUE 😭 it’s too dark to try it outside right now, but will definitely do this tomorrow!!
Yeah it’s a common issue since debris and rocks get lodged in there and cause the mechanism to get stuck.
BRO I LOCKED MY KEYS IN THE TRUNK AND GOT EM OUT AND NOW THIS MECHANISM IS FIXED TOO. THANK YOU LETS GOOOO

I’ve been using my key fob to get into my trunk for the last few years. Tried this and it worked. Thanks a bunch.
Great work!

Nice one, you guys have some of the best Honda DIY videos on UA-cam. Keep on the good work
Abubakar Umar thanks!
Right on! That little spring worked loose on mine. All I did was what you showed here plus put the spring pin back in place.
It just worked for me and it took literally 30 seconds. Appreciate it man💯
Thank you so much for this video. My wife locked it then unlocked it, and it stuck on “lock.” I watched this video and in 5 minutes it was fixed.
Great to hear!
Been struggling with this for a minute! Thank you so much.
Lol I think a lot of people have.
1st. video to address this issue. Thanks.

If you lock the trunk in the front can you use the key and manual open in back?

Similar mechanism with 5th Gen prelude , the white plastic wasn’t in the groove, worked!

It’s 2003-2017 Honda accord Trunk lid lock cover Fuel tank cap switch opening trim. Found one being sold on AliExpress, but it’s in a tan color
Accidentally locked my keys in my trunk this saved me thank you so so much!!
This just save mine and three other asses, thank you for your service
Lol nice
Excellent video!!! Thanks for posting getting ready to perform this fix now.
Yep that fixed my lock..that and a little WD40 to loosen up the actual mechanism. Total time 15 minutes!

Life saver! Unfortunately after fixing it I realized my lock is actually broken:(
I'm rewatching the video preparing for a project of soundproofing the floor and I want to know how to remove this part. Thanks again.

Thanks for helping me clear this, I found the key could lock it but not unlock it? It just turns the lock, but I will not lock it again.
Check if there’s anything obstructing the area underneath there, if not, I’d replace the key lock unit, could be bad.
sometimes it's just the dumbest little fixes lmao thank you
😂😂
Thanks for this, my lock was fine it was just locked lol i didnt know that it also disabled the trunk from being locked
Does anyone know what the plastic cover is called? Trying to order one because I don't have one but can't get the name
I’d try calling the dealership and ask them to search for a 2006 honda accord Fuel Door Trunk Release Lever plastic cover.
Thanks, man. Just what I needed!
Fantastic video!!! Thank you very much!!
Just got mine. I can unlock it, but when I pull on the lever for the trunk release, it doesn't open. Does that mean a cable disonnected?
Is it connected to the cable?
@@NutzAboutBolts Still hear something move in the Trunk, but it does not open
@@Bammbabee try manually opening the trunk by pulling the plastic tab in the trunk through your back seat
can you guys do a video on how to replace an 04 accord power steering pressure hose?
There is a video we did on a different car, but it should be the same concept
Do a video on how to remove the pulley off a 2003 Honda Accord power steering pump
This worked like a charm
Don't show this video to your valet parking guy.
Thanks a lot bro, I have the same problem and I fix it.
Glad to help

Would this work with a 99 civic too

Thank you so much!
I did all the steps but my trunk still won't open. I can hear it clicking though.
Was it opening before? The trunk could be sticky, try lifting it up, if not, could be a cable issue
Omg finally
my vape fell in there how do i get it
Bro your amazing
Glad it helped 😁
Thank you!!!! Omg it worked!!!!
Good job 👍🏼
Locked my keys in my trunk hope it works
Gracias por el aporte, me ha servido mucho.
You’re awesome bro
I juz watched a India dude do it..he didn't push the lock up..he just used his flat head to push the tumbler..that was all..same reult less effort..
Excellent, thanks!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you
