HEY FRIENDS!
WELCOME BACK! TODAY WE HAVE ANOTHER EPISODE OF OUR BASEMENT RENOVATION PROJECT. LET ME TELL YOU, WE ARE FINALLY SEEING THINGS COME TOGETHER AND HONESTLY I THINK WE SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. WE ARE PAINTING OUR BASEMENT TODAY . SINCE WE DECIDED TO GO WITH A MORE INDUSTRIAL LOOK WE OPTED TO LEAVE THE CEILING EXPOSED AND PAINT THE EXPOSED WOOD BEAMS. SINCE OUR HOME IS OLD, IT WAS BUILT IN 1958. THE WOOD WAS SUPER DRY AND REALLY SUCKED UP ALL THE PAINT. THE END RESULT IS AMAZING BUT IT DID TAKE SO MUCH WORK!
WE ENDED UP USING 13 GALLONS OF DRYFALL PAINT FROM SHERWIN WILLIAMS IN PURE WHITE WITH A FLAT FINISH.

Spraying saves SOOO MUCH TIME. WE used it in our beach house Reno before we sold. It was such a time saver. Sweat equity!!!!

We have a finished basement & we wanted a bar area/family room. I used the upper cabinets we removed in our kitchen renovation to build a big L-shaped bar. We did new floors, painted everything, new outlets & plugs, added LED lighting, added molding & shelving...it was a lot of work. When we finally finished, we drove to BevMo & dropped $300 on booze, mixes, bar ware & all the fun stuff. Then we sat in our bar & drank, just the 2 of us, because of covid. We haven’t been down there for months. lol

We've been in renovations since we bought our house three years ago so I also love seeing your reno videos. My hubby just recently bought a paint sprayer. What a game changer! The prep work is tedious but, the end result is so worth it! We have a lot of wainscotting in our house and the sprayer left the most beautiful finish on them. It feels like a finish on a car.

@@DanielaDiaries It's not huge renos, just painting and updating. No ripping out walls or stuff like that. Our house was a rental for years so it has been neglected. The house is livable so it's not too bad. I just live with random tools and paint cans laying around and I feel like it's constantly messy LOL

Omgoodness “Leo the Builder”...I almost spit out my coffee laughing!!!! You guys are killing it. Your posts give me motivation. I did. My living room after seeing your kitchen. I have our Attic update on the horizon (I need to move my 3 kids around for everyone’s mental health) and have to paint the WHOLE thing and stairwell, etc. So I am debating if I can do on my own or need to hire someone. Love the progress. Thrilled for your family.
Great video. I have one question about the material used in the wall space between each beam where the drywall ends ? Is it exposed insulation or some kind of wood board? Thanks
I love that Leo and you are working so hard on this whole project. I had two slab leaks less than a year ago and I HIGHLY recommend any kind of “luxury vinyl” flooring. It’s not waterproof, but it’s water and scratch resistant, looks like beautiful wood, and I have a big dog and it’s been such a better experience than when I had more expensive wood floors. The main insurance guy recommended it and I looked into it. So worth it!
We found a brand that is the luxury line it’s so nice!
Keeping the ceilings open and painting it white MADE that space 👌👌👌 I wanted to do the same to my basement. The drop ceiling tiles are sagging because our cat likes to play mission impossible and climbs into the dead space between the ceiling and floor boards 🤦♀️ plus they get all yellowed and crusty with age. I want them GONE. I don't think we could get away with a white ceiling though because our floor joists aren't a solid beam, they're a sandwich of really chunky playwood instead and I know that stuff is a headache to paint white. I think I'd do a nice matte black finish. 🤔

Reno looking great. Black trim will look nice against the white. You could also paint the poles black rather than boxing them-in. Will add to the industrial theme.

Looks good and since the spindles and the handrail will be black that trim in black would tie in well I think....and if it doesnt....its just a little bit of repaint.
Take the stair rails out to get drywall down and replace with industrial look when done.
Good one. I want to turn a storage area into an office, but the ceiling is lower than yours. This is the exact solution to give it life.

I think the trim is going to be pretty painted black, adding a frame to that area. It will also tie into the railing and black and white flooring. I have trouble using spray paint so I bought a device that fits over the nozzle of the spray. It has a trigger that is so much easier to use.

How to paint a basement ceiling . Not any footage of painting or what sprayer she used 🤔
You must have skipped through because at 8:11 I showed the sprayer and then follow that up with the dryfall paint I use and I then follow that up with me spraying. So…… 🤷🏻♀️
@@DanielaDiaries I stand corrected , i did see the portion about the paint and intend to use it. Did you like that sprayer ? And while I can be a little impatient which is why I missed the sprayer my fault , I in general liked the video but you had a little to much filler not enough nuts and bolts . Keep up the nice work .
@@richho1469 I did like the sprayer it was easy to use and gave a nice finish. I will say that the cleaning part was a process and had a few steps. I would recommend it overall. We have used it a few times since for a few different projects and lent it to family and everyone Likes it
