How to Fix Safari Can't Find the Server on MacOS Catalina and Below

- Hey everyone, today we’re going to be going over several ways to fix an issue in Safari on your Mac where certain webpages won’t load and present the following error message: Safari Can't Find the Server. First, we take steps to isolate the problem, including going over steps like trying a different browser and device to ensure that the error message is an issue with Safari. Then we go over steps like disabling your ad-blocker or antivirus software to ensure they aren’t the root of the problem. Then we check for issues with your computer handling things like your IP address, we reset Safari settings to clear data, we check your hosts file, and more. You fixed my issue... idk what did it but is was one of the last 4 steps. Both google chrome and safari started loading yahoo browser after I got some sort of malware. I downloaded malwarebytes and a quick scan detect 7 issues. I quarantined and deleted them but after all that, I started getting the cannot connect to server error. I followed this video and I’m back in business. Thanks bro! That deserves a like/follow and more!!!
Whooooa. It worked! I don't know which fix did it, cuz I did 'em all until checking. This was the most confounding situation ever. I couldn't open much of anything, including UA-cam. (I had to go to my iPhone to access your site.) Well done. The other quick fix items on all the other sites were worthless.

You are a genius! two week old mac suddenly stopped in the middle of U tube video, no idea what happened. Went through all the solutions until we got to wi fi settings, and typing in all the 8's etc. Then the screen told me no IP address, so I hit revert, and bingo, everything came back on....I have the Monterey update from last week, so things may be a bit different on that. I have been struggling for the past two weeks to find a solution as to why Safari and Chrome would not allow access to one particular website. I found the cause of the problem as well as the instructions as to how to fix the problem through this video. It appears that WP Flywheel had corrupted my "host" file and this code was preventing the website from opening. Strangely enough, though, Firefox would open the website when neither Safari nor Chrome would. Anyway, thank you so much, Thomas! Everything is working fine now.

Adding the ips under the dns tab is what worked for me. As soon as I hit "apply" the site loaded immediately. I'm amazed and curious-why did that solve it? Thanks so much for the easy to follow instructions!! I was able to fix it myself instead of asking my brother.
DNS servers translate website URLS, like google.com, into IP addresses that the computer can load, like 172.217.6.78. If your DNS servers are set incorrectly, the computer cannot properly do this. :)

Hi! Thanks for your video and your good explanations. So, my "hosts" file had an additional third "localhost" so I went to the terminal, deleted it and was about to save it, but it asked me to choose what file to save it under and the "hosts" file was grayed out, along with all of the others in that folder. When I tried to edit the text file itself it said I'm not the proprietary of the file so I can't edit it, I think that's why it was grayed out. Do you know how to solve this? I've been having this issue for the past few months, I've just been manually imputing the domains under the DNS tab. But now I need to use an app that uses the internet and it won't connect and I don't know what to manually input as a domain. Do you think it might be a DNS problem? I've already changed the servers to the ones in the video but it didn't work... Tysm in advance, just subscribed to your channel, best regards from Brazil :)
