It’s hard for me to hear you say some of your videos aren’t the best, you’re killing it. Some UA-cam guys spend a half hour talking about what they are going to do, ten minutes doing it, 29 minutes pitching their sponsors products, then ten minutes telling you what they did at the end. You always have consistent good content on many projects, plus the stuff you’re doing in the background. Great job this year! Merry Christmas to you and your family, next year is going to be great for you guys.

Puddin, I initially came here just for the beautification of those gorgeous old trucks. Now, I come here for you and your wonderful personality. I don't mean to get all mushy on you, but there are some dark days where I start to lose the battle with the bad shit going on inside my head, going back and rewatching some of my favorite videos or checking out a new upload always brings me out of it.
Thank you so very much Puddin.

When Ray is ready to let some of his stuff go, he has the perfect person to help promote an auction. Could make a whole weekend of it, like the Lone Star Round up, bands, car show, etc. You could get the whole town involved, Taco Boy, Oklahoma speed & custom... Talk about a making legend

  • @fillg
    @fillg Рік тому +29

I'm pretty sure you have to wind the back window down before you can open the tailgate but a lot of the old wagons you could either lay the tailgate down or do the latch a different direction and swing it open to the side. You probably do need the key though

  • @member57

I love that old wagon. If you don't already know you're gonna have to get that back window down to open the tailgate. But you need a key to engage the crank. It's possible that you can remove the interior tailgate panel to access the crank mechanism so you can remove it and get the window down then you might be able to get a key made. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this build!

If you take out any bloopers, (or even a collection of some you've shown over the years), perhaps you could create a bloopers video as a filler when you need something but don't have time. Make a collection over time, with some of your normal comments thrown in, & you'd have a ready made video in no time.

Definetely do the hotrod approach. Just love hotrodded wagons, and this is simply perfect for it with those looks. Its what that car calls for, for sure. I think airbags would be tacky for it. Also, it was clearly a hotrod of some sorts in its young life, so it would be cool to pay some kind of tribute to that.

Looks like a good project. Glad the frame held up, (thought it would be in decent condition since there is no grass growing on the ground where you picked up from). You know you are getting old when you remember these station wagons new on the showroom floor. Especially when my father like looking at new cars all the time and he shared passion for cars with me. Nice that Ray has all those memories with his yard. Really can understand why he dose not let too many of them go.

It's so good to see people like Ray, still holding on to history. I live in Maine, and I had a couple handful of "junkyards". Spent alot of time digging parts out of alot of them. Unfortunately they have all sold everything off. One of the places felt like miles of automotive history. They started with busses and heavy equipment. Went by decade after that. All the way to the 20's. And not one is left.

Of all the wagons I've seen on YT, you, Sir, have made The Find of the Year! That bad boy is one SWEET rig begging to get back on the road. You are one SBC and TH350 away from inexpensively turning that ride into the envy of the Midwest. Find a really cool, old school locksmith, and I am sure that he will have the master key number for that car - both the ignition and door keys. You do NOT need anywhere near $10K to get her back on the road. Keep the rears on drums, front disc conversion is relatively cheap, coil-overs on the back, cut some coils on the front, and you have the rake you want. I'm telling you, this is a relative quickie revival that will have your fans locked onto your channel. Family ride? You betcha. The girls will love going to practice in that ride, and going to town with the family for a sweet treat or a burrito will be even more fun. You could not have asked for a better interior - the insides are just cherry! She's an A/C car, built for comfort, so it's all there. That thing does not need a speck of paint except on the steelies - shoot, paint 'em Puddin blue, goes with the innards! Yessir, this is a find that has my attention, and I look forward to any content on her from either channel. Merry Christmas, to you, the family and the rest of the Pott County gang! Cheers!!!

My dad had a ‘61 Chevy Brookwood wagon like that in the teal/blue Puddin likes so much. The color of the ‘62. As a kid I sat facing backwards in the third row pop-up seat. He called it his “Heavy Chevy.” It had a straight six with a three on the tree manual. Nice to see one today in such good shape.

My friend, people have been chucking Chev 350s in Jagwires down here (in NZ) for many years. The small blocks are lighter, more - or just as - economical as the twin cam straight six they come with, a lot less temperamental, easier to work on and cost less for the parts to fix them. Sure - there are some purists that don't like it, but like the bloke I know who put chromed lake pipes and big mag wheels on his Rolls Royce and then painted it a brighter yellow than a New York taxi with red and orange flames on the sides and hood, I don't care. As long as its done right and aint gonna fall out, you bet I'll do it!
Ray - the old fella driving the forklift - is a real old character. Love his sense of humour - and a "trainee" my ass! There aint many people who could manoeuvre a Lincoln through a gap half its length, let alone get a monstrous tractor and 61 Chev wagon out around all the trees and vehicles without collecting anything with it on the way! The sort of bloke you could sit for hours drinking coffee (or water) and just letting the old boy tell stories about the cars and stuff he's done (or him and his Dad). Old Bill is another character and I really enjoyed seeing him take on the Puddin' Slap during the water blasting on the wagon! You're real blessed there, brother - two old blokes who've taken a shine to you and enjoy your company as much as you do theirs.
I really enjoy sitting and listening to people much older than I am and miss talking to my Grandad for that reason. Never heard the same story twice in the 30 years I had him in my life, but we sure drank some beer, played some pool, had a lot of laughs and built some memories...and boy had he done some things in his 82 years! Like you, I now don't drink but I will always sit happily and listen to an old bloke tell his stories for as long as he wants to because it's a personal take on history and of a time that has gone forever...and I always learn something and it's always interesting to hear....and I'm now 53 so not so young as I was either. Heck, I was BORN in the August of the year that '61 wagon was last tagged!
I figured it ould be steelies and caps when you started your build on the '61, but In my view, don't go black on the steels unless you're going to put trim rings (aka dress rings / beauty rings) on them as well as the caps or go a whitewall tyre - the white ring being about the thickness of the others you have on the fleet. Looking at the picture your artwork bloke did up, he didn't put whitewalls on it and there's just too much black to make her pop, but a trim ring or a whitewall tyre would do the trick. On the rest of the build, yep - lower, a mild cam in a short block Chev with a TH400, decent stopping power and a retrimmed interior (where it needs it) and leaving the body the way she is (except where the rust needs addressing) would be my vote.
Thoroughly enjoy your builds, Puddin'. Actually, I enjoy watching the show on both channels, but builds are inspiring to me.....and help me to get off my ass and START a project, let alone finish it!
All the best to you, your family, Ray, Bill and Slick-50 for Christmas and the New Year and the hopes that 2023 brings you more joys than frustrations. (Man, just thinking, it would be funny if Slick joined the Police force, then he would be Slick 5-0!!) See you when we see you, mate.

This is a cool old yard. Your standing next to an old 55/56 4 door hard top Buick, an old jaguar from the early 50’s and a Kaiser Durham from around 1951 to 1953. That a really really cool trio of classic cars!

No negative comments from St. Louis.
Glad to see the old ones in the hands of someone that actually kept cars instead of crushin um. Memories can be worth much more than cash.
I doubt that you’ll scrap the wagon if you can’t use it.
I wish I still had dads 65 belair wagon with the third backward facing seat that was regulated to me and my little sister, on so many summer trips. He wouldn’t put the window down , ever.
I’m not sure if it was he didn’t trust me to not toss out my sisters dolls or the exhaust the whole family would share but it sure was hot in that un-air conditioned fish bowl. I sure miss those days.

Love the wagon, we had wagons all while I was growing up and they were fun cars. Spent most of my childhood riding in the back when they had the little folding seats back there. Look forward to seeing you fix up this wagon, it's going to be awesome no matter what you do to it.
