  • 6 Tips for really New Ski Doo owners
    Dino’s Tinker Shed, S1-Ep40. Six things a new, late model Ski Doo XS owner may want to know.
    In this episode, I will talk about my 2018 Ski Doo Renegade Enduro, with the 900 ACE engine in the XS chassis and six things that I learned about it after I purchased it. This video is geared at those who have never been snowmobiling, returning to the sport after a long absence or maybe like me have switched brands over to Ski Doo. More experience riders may find this video a bit boring or obvious so please keep that in mind.
    As always, I have included time code chapters so you can skip to any part you want to review.
    For years, I had ridden older sleds, and my sled before this one was a 2001 Polaris 600 classic, a sled that served me very well and one that I had put literally thousands of Kilometers on over years of riding. However, when I decided to step up to a brand-new sled, I decided to switch brands and engine types from the old tried and true 2-stroke to the modern fuel injected 3 cylinder 4-stroke mill that is the 900 Ace.
    For me there were a lot of differences and features that the old Polaris just did not have, and it took me a bit of time to get used to so I thought it might be a good idea to share some of the basics with others who may be looking to buy one of these sleds especially used.
    TIME CODE CHAPTERS:
    00:00- Cold Opening
    01:12- Intro
    01:32- Overview
    03:23- How to remove the seat
    04:57- Using the clutch Key tool
    08:34- How to remove a side cover
    10:00- Heated grips and thumb are cold
    11:42- Fuse location
    13:04- DESS Key Colors

    Excellent review. Super helpful, particularly in light of the different technology of these newer rigs vs those old dawgs we rode (and likely will ride on occasion).

    Great intro video for that newer rider(s). About the tools that snap on to the belt cover. I'd strongly advise that they be placed in a mini tool pouch & placed either in a Glovebox, Handlebar bag, Tunnel Bag, etc... They have been known for falling off or not placed securely & get caught up in the Clutches.

      Thanks for the tips!, I can see how that could be an issue for sure and could lead to a bad day if the run through the clutches.

    Thanks for a well done review on the Skidoo. I found it very interesting and information also. Due to some personal heath issues I took a 4 year brake from sledding. Returning to the sport this year, your review helped me get reacquainted with my 2017 Skidoo 900 Ace Blizzard.

      Thank you for the comment and I am happy you are returning to the sport. I am also glad that my video was helpful, as a past sledder I am sure it was more of a refresher than a revolution but it still amazes me how fast the sled are changing each model year.
      Have fun this season and enjoy putting miles on the track.

    Great video and exactly the sled I’d like to get next. Still riding an ‘09 MXZ eTec 600, which gets pretty good fuel economy, but I’d like to go 4 stroke and the 900 ace is what I’m after.

      I really like mine, it is smooth, quite and with the air ride you can cover hundreds of Km per day in comfort. Not having to buy oil is also a great advantage.

    great content - especially the part about belt removal and deflection ... do you plan to do another video on optimizing belt deflections and the steps to achieve it?

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  2 роки тому

      Thank you for the comment. I do have a video out on setting belt deflection already, it is a basic set up and only covers how to set up the belt as per the manual. More advanced alignment or how to shim for clutch alignment is not covered in it.

    Sir, I have heard of folks premixing the oil with gas, just to be on the safe side. There is no way of knowing for sure a 07 500 Ski-Doo is getting direct oil.

    • @DinosTinkerShed

      Its not a bad Idea if you can not verify you are getting oil to pre mix.

    I have a 07 Ski Doo. How do I know if it is getting oil to the gas. My lines are dry

    • @DinosTinkerShed
      @DinosTinkerShed  Рік тому

      Boy oh boy, you should be able to see the oil in the lines. You could try and make up a gallon of pre mixed fuel and run the sled on that then you could pull off the oil lines to ensure oil is flowing.
