Exactly correct. No matter how big you build a garage it is never big enough. I built a 30x44 garage back in 2005. Four sleds and three project cars later I could use more space. My two daily driver automobiles have to set out side. LOL
I too have a Shelterlogic. Its 4 yrs old and so far in good shape. In order to eliminate moisture from dripping from the ceiling onto my sled and ATV I cut a hole on each end of the shelter face and installed a vent that I can throttle open and closed. This allowed air circulation and presto, moisture gone. Also after the snowmobile season I put a baseball size of steel wool into the end of the exhaust to keep critters out. Works great.
Welcome back. I really like the improved editing of your latest video, very entertaining. Nice work with the new garage! That will be so much nicer than the temp tarp sheds.
Dryer sheets seem to work great for me. Also i use those dehumidifier containers in my trailer and under my hood under my cover to keep out moisture. Helps Keep my sleds looking new
Hey great tip! Probably wouldn’t work for me as most of my old sox have holes in them :) At least now I have a use for the odd ones when one goes missing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
When filling the gas tank for storage use non ethanol fuel to avoid pulling water from the air. And don't mix up your mothballs and m&m bags. Makes for a bad day. Welcome back!
The best thing I’ve found is mouse magic which is mint scented bags that you can put in various places. Beyond that I put steel wool in access points such as the exhaust and air box intake on the dash. Then, spray Grandpa Gus’s potent mouse repellent on the steel wool. 3 years of use and I’ve not found one sign of a mouse in any of my 4 sleds. Both products are available on Amazon
Hi there - just want to post a quick comment to commend you on your videos. They're informative, concise, free of unnecessary fluff, and perfectly edited. I recently retired, bought a farm property, and am living out all my dreams with new equipment and all the challenges that come with it. This includes a 1999 Polaris Indy and a 2011 Arctic Cat 550 EFI. I can see myself coming back to your channel on a regular basis. Thanks in particular for the video about how much my snowmobile should smoke, and the one about the lithium batteries. All the best. Wish you were my neighbour!
Has the same problem with my shelter with moisture. The way I solved it, bought two vents and installed them on opposite side of the shelter. It allows the trap moisture to escape.
What I did with my shelter (same as yourse) I put it on pallets and then added a 3/4 plywood sheets to cover the pallet holes giving it a real solid floor. I then attached my shelter with pipe supporters. Works great ! Welcome back Dave ! 😎
Thanks boosted. Working on something else at the moment, but will keep it in mind. A lot of guys motovlog, so if I do it I want to make sure I'm putting something good together for you guys.
Found your channel last year when I started sledding, I appreciate your video and the format to pick your brain! Always great tips! This one made me laugh a few times👍
Glad your back. I’ve had the best luck with peppermint oil , 10 drops a month inside and under hood. Great new shed, I just insulated a solid old shed we had and added radiant tube heating. Should have done it yrs ago. Don’t wait to long to enjoy things that make life nicer. Thx
i actually love the ultra sonic repellers i have an old lake house(65 years old) known to have critters all over we put down several (like 7 to 9) ultrra sonics and il find a few odd mouse droppings but nothing compared to the past! good to see you return!
@@MyOldSled victor brand with the blue ring (many are required) no the aviation content might not return at all. i have driven to bc for premium backcountry snow im here for 10 weeks.
Good video and ideas, THANK YOU for posting!!! My only difference in opinion is the dryer sheets. I used Bounce dryer sheets all around inside and outside "storage comparments", my 34ft camper stored inside an enclosed clean cattle shed. I think they worked for a month or the mice hadn't found it yet. But on my second check of camper at around 60 days. The mice had picked up some of the sheets and built a nice cozy house in the silverware drawer and behind the hot water heater. So I know at least the Bounce dryer sheets are a NO-GO. If you know of a different brand that works I'd be willing to try them out. Cause a different brand probably has a difference in smell. Thanks and keep up the great informative videos!!!
There are a few brands I know of…Downy, Gain, Fleecy…In my opinion, theres nothing that will completely deter a determined rodent. You can slow them down, discourage them, change their behaviour, but nothing with completely keep them out. If they want in more than they dont like the smell, they’ll get in.
Great videos. Been watching for years. Currently have a 2000 Grand touring 500 and a 1976 Arctic Jag. Another tip for the temp shelters is to use a 3/4" length of pvc pipe slid through the pocket at the bottom of the door. This makes rolling up the door super easy and neatly stored. Cheers from Ontario!
Enjoyed this video noticed editing Is different... refreshing. I am not a beginner rider but lots of useful tips and videos are still enjoyable. Thanks for the videos you make praying Ontario gets some snow
Welcome back! I like the editing of the new videos and your new shop! It’s going to help take the sting out of working on those cold winter days. Are you going to heat your garage?
If your gonna get those tents for storage I’d recommend getting the more rounded ones as the snow doesn’t stick to them as easily we have 2 of them and this is the second winter both work great only had to manually remove snow maybe 2 times over the last 2 winters
Nice to see you are back in business! I'm building a garage as well. Poured the pad in the late fall and I'm going to frame it in the spring. Still waiting for enough snow to get the sled out on the trail s here in the Ottawa Gatineau area.
Nice garage. I feel your pain storing outside. I use unused kitty litter in the summer rodents smell it and assume there is a cat around. I've been doing that for 2 years now and I've never found a nest since.
Hey, where's the 97! I started snowmobile shopping (used) just a few weeks ago and stumbled across your channel. I've watched so many of your videos now and you are ridiculously helpful, so thank you for what you do. Also, you helped my uncertainty about purchasing an older machine (no choice due to budget), but I found myself in the same situation as you - am I really going to like this sport? Do I really want to make such a large purchase on something I might not enjoy? Anyway, I found a beautifully maintained mxz700 so your videos became even more helpful! Off to the trails for me now...
Nice job and great info! I like your new building, are you going to insulate and heat it later on? With the tent what I’ve done in other structures with an earthen floor is to lay pallets down and cover them with scrap plywood and OSB. It’s far from perfect but works out pretty good and the materials are free.
Just watched your helmet videos which one do you use more ? Or did u buy another one? Ever tried a heat shield helmet ? I ended buying a modular helmet after watching both of your helmet reviews.
How did you do to got the little BRP logo in front of your '97 Mxz and Bombardier became BRP in 2003 ? Does the little one that you can buy online fit on it ?
I never even thought about that. To be honest I don’t recall, I just ordered a replacement for it. I guess that part would have been replaced with the new logo.
Hello i have a question... I bought my first snowmobile a 800 PTEK renegade 2010 and it sleeps outside. Now I live in canada and it is -25C the last few days. My sled doesn't have an electric start so I have to pull start it but with the cold it is impossible to pull. The engine barely moves when pulling. Do you have any tricks? Maybe a video idea..
Oh da** that would have been a good one to shoot yesterday...it's been like that here as well (Im on the Bruce) and mine started ok. Some guys put a tarp over them and apply a heat source in a variety of ways which I quite frankly wouldn't recommend to anyone. I have a couple of ideas, let me noodle that one. I would always pull it over one or times sloooowwwly with the kill switch off first just to free stuff up and move some oil around.
Spicy things won't deter rodents, the mousetrap Monday guy coated sunflower seeds in pure capsaicin and feed them to the mice in his barn, didn't bother them much at all.

Thanks for commenting Kevin.
