I always enjoy someone who dont know anything about the game complaining.
Most of the issues comes from Servers. People who managed to get the game to run in Single player have reported that it runs perfect with close to no bugs. NPCs are also working fine.
THe game jsut need the dynamic server meshing and it will cut away 90% of the bugs.

the funding model post beta development is cosmetics, its already been starting to switch to cosmetics progressively over recent years, the ships take a long time to make, use DCS jet fighter dev cycle for reference or any game that uses high fidelity, functional models within a non-simplified game engine = lots of time, lots of dev costs, they are infact very expensive to make due to how many man hours and different skill sets are involved, dont believe me? ask a professional dev team for a quote to make a new DCS jet or a new SC multi crew ship to the SAME functionality and spec as the existing completed assets, you will cry, including when they tell you how LONG you will have to wait and they cry when you realize you need to sell your assets to pay for it, especially so if you asked a dev team to make something on the larger side like the javelin, complex engine mechanics, high fidelity assets = costs and time skyrocket with scale.
meanwhile games like warthunder with a simplified engine, simplified assets = just takes a few months to drop in a new jet or tank and conversely if you wanted to pay a pro to do it, the price would be pretty cheap,
This is why CIG has never wanted ship sales to be the end goal of funding and sustained development post beta as its to much work and infact CIG has never actually had the manpower or budget to do all the work efficiently, so high quality yes, but slow due to lack of manpower, like i said 10+ years ago they needed 1000+ people, 10+ years and 1 billions usd to cover dev costs, this is a MMO which by default increases dev time and costs, but its also a high fidelity MMO, with complex engine simulation and assets and based of the CIG head count, budget and other projections i calaculated 2026-2027 to release quality based on basic industry dev standards and logic compared to what other AAA could do at the time, rockstar actually being my main basis for calculation.
eitherway your viewpoint is basically of the mark.

There is not a single Game engine that would work for Star Citizen, because ALL game engine have a 32bit coordinate system.
Unreal Engine 5 max map size is 20.9707km². How would you go about making a seamless space game if you can't even render a full size city without the Engine crashing ?
They HAD to pick CryEngine2 because it was the best at rendering big maps, but even it doesn't have capability to render maps as big as StarCitizen would need, so they rebuilt most the engine code and created brand new techniques to render much larger game spaces which is where most of the money went to. this is what most people don't understand, these devs didn't spend 600+ million dollar on an MMO game, they spent 600+ million dollar on a GAME ENGINE. for perspective EPIC games spent 3+ BILLION dollar on the Unreal Engine.

@@Cooltrain only CIG knows for sure but, since they gave it it's own name and showcased it's own Demo last year with some of the features that are unique to it, i think safe to say it's a completely different engine by now (and opening the possibility to commercialize it. *maybe*). i actually think Lumberyard has more to do with Cryengine that StarEngine has with Lumberyard since they also took some code from Lumberyard too and reworked it.

    • @jh5kl
      @jh5kl 6 місяців тому

factually engines like that already exist for years, with server meshing for space games with thousands of players in the same universe, walking inside spaceships, full planets, trade, fight etc.

    • @JINGWA64
      @JINGWA64 6 місяців тому

@@jh5kl the reason its normal for things to start complex at SP and get less complex at MP and even less at MMO is pretty basic dev logic, especially if you want to do server meshing as the more complicated the engine, the more complicated the server meshing becomes and also more servers need to be spooled up, spooled down and managed if you want a good player count interacting with each other in the same space = not even blizzard was interested with its prehistoric arcade game engine using 20 year old graphics and its multi billion dollar budget and fully staffed office full of back end engineers, they just NOPE.
so im not sure which games your talking about?, EVE doesnt do it, NMS doesnt, all the AAA MMO's dont do it, they may do PRTAS to it, but they dont do it ALL seamless or the same complexity as SC, which will get several times more complex post server meshing... hence why the server jank increases with each update.
other games = you still have load screens, player sharding that prevents players in the same zone or server interacting with each other in the same zone so the player interactive count is pretty small unless you cap it and simplify it like COD or BF games for example eg no longer a MMO anymore you reverted back to a basic MP game again to dodge the problems of MMO development, which is what basically most MMO's do these days anyways, they say MMO, but they are closer to a MP game then a MMO.
even when the players in a MMO are supposed to be on the same server, if they arent in the same party or group and the shard is full = another sever spools up and they go into that server shard and well the game engine complexity is always minimal, so even EVE just becomes a -1 frame per second map screen despite its lack of complexity..
SC is basically trying to be DCS in space, but with its fidelity spread out over a larger area, so not focused around the cockpit and the jets exterior surface elements, so the cockpits in SC are less functional, but everything around it is several times more functional then DCS, yet if anyone suggested turning DCS into a MMO they would think your f'ing lost your mind, yet CIG is essentially doing way beyond that.
again thats why you dont have any comparable examples that make any sense, anything that attempts to compare just makes what CIG is doing look even better, but again its why CIG has taken so long and why others dont try it, gamers already settle for less, they have no reason to make their games that good or good of experience as SC is aiming for.
though saying that in around 5 years, doing what took CIG 10 years will be done by Ai in 2-3 years, but this also benefits CIG as well, not just their future competition, so its kind of who makes it first and gains the market share of gamers interesting in that kind of experience before the rest jump all in.

Star citizen is not really stuck in development. It's actually just the second project, the main being SQ42. SQ42 is now features complete and in polish state. So rn update and developement for star citizen will be way quicker since they moved staff from SQ42 to work on PU star citizen, they will implement feature from SQ42 to star citizen and the main thing is that the server meshing will be kind of ready for release "soon". The reason is simple why it's been in developement for so long and will still be, it's useless trying to develop star citizen if the server meshing (surely the most difficult thing to develop, that's why no other studio or even compagnies outside game industry even tries to develop one, most server engineers would and was even saying 10 years ago it's impossible to achieve what they wanted to do) is not ready. So if you know it will take a decade to maybe succeed in making server meshing, it would be absolutly pointless to develop all the feature of star citizen since it could not be implemented in the game since one server only cannot handle the whole thing. Doesn't matter if Pyro is ready or other feature are ready, their goal is to have a huge seamless game, and it's not happening without server meshing.

The biggest issue IMO is that feature creep has run absolutely rampant, there is nobody keeping the "Good idea fairy" in check. If they actually stuck to the original vision of the game they could have released all of the core features they promised within the timeframe they originally advertised, but when they start going "Wouldn't it be great if..." and add random things like eating food, hospital respawns, depressing 1-person raves, etc, it bloats the development to the point where the core features of the game are neglected, and their ~200 employees are working on like 500 disjointed things with no clear vision for how to turn it into a finished, polished product.
A comparison to Elite: Dangerous really highlights the flaws with SC's development. They both started at about the same time, but Elite was released core-feature complete 10 years ago, within like 3 years of getting funded, and then new content, like ground combat, has been added on over time as improvements with a very clear sense of direction and timing, which is why it still has a large player-base. Those new features keep the game fun and keep old players interested because there is pretty consistently something new to do. Critically: ever since launch the game has been running bug-free at buttery smooth 60+ FPS on typical hardware, and they were even able to seamlessly completely replace the graphics engine in 2022 because they spent years planning out the shift, with the game only being down player-side for like a couple hours at 1AM to make the change. ED has been able to do the same thing SC is trying to do, adding features beyond it's original vision like ground exploration, fleet carriers, infantry combat, and building/settlement/station interiors over the years, without compromising it's original vision to do it, and because of that, for every second of the last 10 years Elite has been a more stable, fun, playable, complete experience than SC, which in the finite scale of a human lifespan is a very long time.
SC is selling a dream, whereas for the last 10 years Elite has been the game you can play today.

@@PapaFenn I definitely agree that the ground combat in ED is not great, but you also can completely ignore it if you don't like it because ground combat is sectioned off as it's own thing, and it didn't delay the development of the core game experience at all. I wasn't bothered at all by it being somewhat mid because it was a 100% optional additonal feature that just didn't appeal to me, but didn't affect the core experience in any way.

Great games are based in great gameplay. Why was Tetris and the Sims some of the best selling games of all time? Because its the gameplay, its not the graphics or immersion, its the gameplay and innovation and creativity that makes for a great game.
And that is what Star Citizen's devs and Chris Roberts seem to have completely forgotten, instead smothering "great graphics" and useless features that do nothing to improve the gameplay. We've seen this for decades, developers bragging about graphics, are doing it because there is so little else to brag about.
And of course, Star Citizen will NEVER allow for player customization of their ships to the extent to being able to design your ship from the ground up to look and feel exactly like what you want, because they want to charge you cash for that.

I keep seeing the argument that this game develops it's own software and it's a constant fight for RnD, since it's so revolutionary.
But the engine it uses is a modified version of CryEngine from early 2000's, (2002 if I'm not mistaken based on very quick google) and the game itself was released in 2012, so it was using a 10 year old outdated engine by the time it was barely playable. Mechanically the game is nothing new, aesthetically I can imagine the art and models took a while but 15 years seems excessive, and as for completed content there seems to be very very little which is actually finished / ready to go.
So... I think it was a red flag right from the get go, if you lost money on this, it's your own fault you looked at a game that was titled as "Old, outdated and prebuilt" and expected new, special and amazing.

Then add the CryTek lawsuit that not only drained funds but morale from CIG , that most likely added 2-3 years to the project as well. I think OCS & SSOCS opened CIG's eyes & they knew they had to create the Star Engine or this was going to be one big pile of Tech debt that would never get completed. They have already surpassed anything "traditonally" expensive, bar a few Big time(money will) bring quality) duds, that have managed to spend loads of comparable money, in less time, when Publishers wanted to take down the MMO world, or Overwatch And the like.
There Is nothing remotely as expensive And in "uncertain" Waters alike SC, not overall, And as far as other similiarities, not even Anthem fits the bill.
And(!), this on a "better vision by gamers", a NEW TYPE of a world/game type, brought by Lots of running away with deadlines And goalposts.
Nothing from Rockstar has ever Ate the money this has. As far as dev money, GTA6 probably won't match what they have managed. They Are still(And still Will be) HOT in development for atleast a year-ish time, if all falls into place. But it seems like a 3+yr endeavour still.
Like with previous GTAs, or Read dead R, Making a game for 180 million And marketing with 250 more, Is different, than burning it all on dev And being 30-70% Done, depending on how they manage to get to "a game", And what gets toned Down, or cut.
As far as history of development, the Books say they might need 1.2 bil, And still Crash with the game And it's delivered scope, when they tie the loose ends And cripple the ambition to match what they Are able to release.
The game was supposed to be Done, then expanded upon, years ago, there Is no Reason pre-emptive study would not, could not, say, what Is And isn't possible, yet the game still has "better do it like that And see what happens" kind of "unprepared" all over it. If SC releases in Q3 2025 I do not expect anything Awe inspiring, that gets expanded upon, while not running other aspects of the game into the ground.
I mean, they did do some novel work, but with different people, loads of backtracking And rediscoveries fall on CR's shoulders.
The mainstay Is being Held back by iffy at best judgement from CR And Co., while He Sells Dreams. CR's most present "attribute" Is Always knowing what to do next, And BEST aswell. just a small correction about star citizen's engine, the devs are calling it star engine and it's an upgrade of amazon's lumberyard engine which itself is an upgrade of cryengine
for reference lumberyard is the engine that the mmo new world runs on so it's got potential to work at scale - the main reason for the bugs is the netcode and the absense of server meshing

    • @lights4bre890
      @lights4bre890 9 місяців тому +7

Lumberyard was the base - but now its its own beast. The engine they started with was capable of 16km maps before needing a loading screen - StarEngine set a world record with 6 billion km captured in engine. I think 16 player was their max when the PU first started ..now the game can handle 100+ players and Server Meshing is being developed which will allow hundreds and hundreds. The latest Cry Engine is capable of 32km maps and None of the additional features and tools that were built into Star Engine.. so that engine is trademarked and proprietary and is 100x more advanced than the Cry/Lumberyard engine it started from

Great video. One small correction though, most of the issues you talk about having to do with the engine, like the bad AI and npcs being weird, isn't a problem with the engine, its a problem with the servers being overwhelmed. Enemy AI and NPCs are actually pretty good, when the servers are running properly. Hopefully some of the tech they're implementing in the next year or so will improve server performance quite a bit. the public version of the engine is also quite a bit behind what they have internally. It's going to be updated to match the internal version over the next year or so. A lot of people think 2024 is going to be the make or break year for the game.

They seem '' stuck '' in a business model that is not aimed at releasing a game. Where's the incentive when you've built a proper business : selling gorgeous ships in a stunning environment. Releasing the game is the side project.
It's a bit like Tinder, it is designed for matches, potentially dates, not to create a stable relationship. That's a promise some users made to themselves.
Of course I understand that the massive work on the engine and the servers got in the way of it. Yet surely the option of releasing a solo experience within a reasonnable amount of time ( for a project that size ), while working on the sandbox as a test server with all the shenanigans and even the ships business, was a possibility at some point. It is a production aspect.
I'm glad it's out there because at least people edit out some great videos out of it and it feeds my imagination.

Almost all the problems you mentioned are to be fixed with server meshing, which is a bit of the holy grail for SC. Basicly it splits the universe into numerous servers that handle their small zone independantly from one another while allowing seamless transitions from one server/zone to another. They've showed a tech demo during the last Citizen Con and some iterations of the precursor tech necessary for it to works have already been tested by players (replication layer).
Now this is a very complex tech and I hope they can pull it off in a not too distant future, but I can't get my hopes too high.
For reference, I happened to land on a server that authentication server decided to ignore after letting 3 players in a few months back. The server was running at 30fps, which is the current maximum while they usually run between 2 and 10 fps when loaded with players. AI was incredibly responsive and actually intelligent, physic worked without issue and everything was smooth af. No NPC standing weirdly on benches, no secret protest, bunker missions were really hard to solo and the AI ships reacted in a very smart way to my actions. For exemple the Hurricane I was fighting, which is a 2 seater heavy fighter with a turret on top was trying to outmaneuver me while keeping its turret pointed at me (the one you show at the end of your video).
The game works, most of what they've already implemented works, but the servers are the biggest issue for now. Having one server handle an entire solar system with persistent entity streaming, physics, collisions and hundreds if not thousands of AI is just too much. Fingers crossed that they can nail server meshing soon !
Good video, always nice to hear a newbro's opinion on the game after playing it for so long. Hopefully you come back to check on the game from time to time !

TL:DR The engine is definitely not the problem. They hired plenty of the Crytek engineers in the past and they know what they are doing. Apart from the 64-bit coordinate, the engine can stream and render on demand. The way they set the objects to render, the physicalization, ingame UI, the huge explorable gas clouds, the way rivers flow physics-based, the way they scatter the different flora, depending on the biomes, caves, clouds, asteroid fields, nebulas, planet rotation for day and night cycles.
UE5 would have problems rendering UI in-game. SC does not have modality in menus, no loading screens, and Loading is asynchronous. Also understand that the networking and database side of things that work with the engine to provide persistence and the possibility to use multiple servers to have the server compute power to process the information for the engine to receive the data and provide a frame is impressive to Google level devs. It is not an easy problem to resolve.
In the short term, we are getting DLSS, FSR, and a proprietary upscaling feature. We are getting Global illumination. We are getting FOG on a planetary scale. We are also getting Vulkan and Ray Tracing integration. With the Vulkan API, they will improve the distribution of rendering between the GPU and CPU. Right now it is CPU-heavy. These are features that were presented already working in the engine. We are also getting the networking side. Testing is ongoing with 800 players in a shared universe space. The test worked better than intended. There are a couple of things they need to polish. But FPS, NPC response, and server fps (This is data in a frame in one second for the client to render) increase to almost the desired 30 fps. You are coming into a patch that is not horrible, but right before a load of foundational tech comes in.
The game you played in this video will be completely different than the game we play by the end of the year. The engine is not the problem, it is the networking side that is the bottleneck and that is going to get resolved. Plus we will have an additional solar system by the end of the year, bigger and lawless compared with Stanton. Nyx will be next and being worked on, plus Odin is already developed asset and POI wise. 4 systems, and a solid foundational tech (Engine + networking) open the door to faster gameplay integration and the dynamic economy... already been worked on for years. They just need the networking side of things to make it work.
This said. If you have fun, good. But come back to the game at the tail end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. You will notice a sizeable change.

The currently Player facing part (PU/MMO) has been in an abysmal state for years because the single player has been the focus ..
since that now is largely complete these devs are now in the process of finishing stuff and moving to the PU side of things.
Blaming problems on the engine is also not helping .. there is no engine in existance that can do what starcitizen is doing ..
(and to be frank .. i am sure that 90% of cryengine has already been replaced with custom code)
stuff like NPCs standing on chairs has been an ongoing problem for years .. that is due to it being largely ignored as a minor problem
that is not really impacting gameplay and the small department of CiG that actually worked on the PU part prioritized stuff that actually impacts the game ..

There have been many developers in the last few decades who have revolutionized the gaming industry. And when I look at the last few years, no studio has tried to develop something revolutionary besides better graphics.... Bethseda uses assets and the same game engine that was released over 14 years ago. Activision, which feels like it releases the same thing every year, just adapts to the current gaming trends with Call of Duty etc. Ubisoft and Microsoft who are taking over more and more of the gaming market and putting pressure on developers to release something. And Star Citizen's approach tech no one has tried before like server mashing and entity streaming and many more to name a few. This game will revolutionize the gaming market by setting new standards, it will only be a matter of time. I wish Star Citizen had the budget of Gta 6 (2 billion) star citizen budget of 600 million is nothing for a gaming studio that first had to establish itself and partly developed its own engine. Rockstar, Bethseda & other big studios already got the money and the engines the devs to run and raliy on and most of them still fuck up like star field costet 400 million where the main development was development was done within the last 3-4 years. 12 years with 600 million for a studio that has to pay workers, servers, etc. and to make it this far is really impressive. Everyone who works in the gaming industry takes off their hat now at this point. 2024 gone be an awsome year for the game

Most of the scope creep is shit we wanted. Id rather the game never fully release but strive towards its current goal than for them to polish what would be a turd of a full game, most of the longevity is, in my opinion, going to come from the base building and resource extraction aspects, as powerful orgs fight for control of the resource deposits of the inner systems, building mining camps and military outposts and fighting over them. But I'm just jazzed that there is a high budget game with some actual ambition and courage. Also, watching Chris Roberts get giddy like a child watching his dreams come true inspires a great deal of confidence in me personally.

As someone who enjoys star citizen and everything it has to offer, the fact that you said you'd buy a $200 ship and the bought it in game is the best. Its the best because you aren't wrong, you DID buy a 200 dollar ship, but you spent probably less than an hour getting to money to do so. I think one of the biggest misconceptions with star citizen is that you have to spend all this real life money to enjoy the game, but in reality its not true at all. The only ships you cant get in game are the ones that release that patch/update. Even so, they become available to buy in game either the next patch/update or the one after. I think that's something CIG (the developers) need to focus more on.

Can you tell me what makes the game exciting for you? I've been thinking about getting this game but in every other comment it is said that theres not much to do in the game😅 i really like how it looks and how little i understand from what I see in videos (I love learning complex game stuff) but I also wanna do exciting things that dont get repetitive fast.

@qwaaq I've been playing SC on and off for a few years now, and in terms of the built in gameplay loops, there is a lot to do, but it's shallow. A lot of the fun of the repetitive loops comes from the immersion, as well as developing your skills and techniques to increase efficiency. I largely enjoy high level bounty hunting for a challenge, and head off to salvage ship wrecks when I just wanna relax, but it's pretty much the same thing every time.
Almost anyone will tell you that the most fun to be had in star citizen comes from playing with others, and in that regard, there's a whole lot of stuff to do, and a whole lot of mechanics to deep dive into, a notable one being the flight model. Most of the repetitive loops become way more fun and somewhat chaotic if you do them with friends. There are also massive in game pvp & pve events hosted every other month or so, which are some of the most fun I've had in any video game, and when those aren't running, players host there own unofficial events (such as races, and battles) almost constantly.
If you're iffy about buying it, they host a free to try (free fly) event every once in a while, but I don't think the next one will be for a few months. Now is a pretty good time to get into the game, they are getting ready to release one of the largest patches in a while, adding a lot of new mechanics, and quality of life features.
Overall, if you're willing to make your own fun with some friends, and work around some (a very large amount of) bugs, you'll have plenty of fun, but the game is absolutely not for everyone. If you want a look at a what pvp with a crew can look like, take a look at bedbananas "the war for jumptown" video.
Hope to see you in the verse o7

Star Citizen isn't filled with bugs because of the game engine. It's filled with bugs because of CIG's policy of using shitty placeholder code for several important features until Squadron 42 is feature complete (which it apparently is now) and they can transfer over the _"refined"_ versions of said features. This is an annoying a questionable practice, but now that SQ42 is feature complete there's no reason to think they won't follow through, even if this follow-through is hindered by inevitable delays.

At this point you have to realise it is a scam. As long as the money keeps coming, the scam will keep rolling. Once the money dries up, something 'unusual' will happen and the project will collapse.

What is going on in Star Citizen in 2024, Well lets start that the beginning... STOP! This is becoming a meme on youtube. You can't put a year in your title then rug pull with over half of your video on the history. There are thousands of videos that document the history of SC, I clicked on one that was going to shock me on what's going on in 2024.

You clearly needed more research time.
1- it's NOT cryengine anymore, it may have started that way but so much has been added this is an entirely new engine, star engine.
2- about the AI, if you had done more research you'd find out that AI on a fresh server is mad difficult, it's the server tick rate that is the issue, which will also be fixed by the one thing that has taken the longest time to develop.
    Replication layer and server meshing.
3- people criticize star citizen for selling ships oh my god they're selling ships.
here's why it makes me angry.
1 - the ship is given to you as a thank you for helping to fund the game, hecne every ship is also purchasable in-game.
2 - you get what you paid for, unlike gacha and lootboxes where you end up paying 100x the value of an item.
but sure star citizen is the evil one here not the gacha or lootbox gambling.
3- you're rewarded for actually playing and getting invested in the game, NOT forced to spin the wheel and gamble for a ridiculous chance at a reward you want from some piece of garbage gacha or lootbox.

Instead of saying 14 years in production id rather say 11.5 years since the kickstarter so no one can complain about when did production start. At least we all agree on when the kickstarter happened

Interestingly they just did an SCL with one of the guys who worked on the pitch video for the Kickstarter, and he noted there was no development -- just a vertical slice pitch video. They didn't actually start working on the project until they had proper funding in 2013.

Good brief video, with a neutral outtake on it!
Because it was brief, it leaves some open to speculate a bit more. Which leads to some inaccurate takes and ideas, your comment section so eagerly pointed out.
You couldn't do it better unless you were willing to make it 1 1/2 hours long. And since the viewers attention span sucks, can't say I blame you.
I'll try my part in adding to the info and hope it help some viewers.
Both Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous announced their kickstarter in 2012. Elite Dangerous promised more scope however.
Neither game has finished all they promised since then.
One however has expanded that scope immensely and has never charged its player base more money to play that expanded content.
The other has charged more a few times, and is now saying they will not produce what they have promised. Also if your friends do not spend the same as you do, you cannot play the same game with them. When they do add to it, it usually comes with many bugs. But at least it says "released" since 2014.
NMS is a prime example of mistakes were made and corrected. I really respect Hello games! Though I don't play it.
Star Citizen (the MMO) wasn't planned to be the game we see today. It was meant to be something similar to what Star Field is. Only with co-op mode for its MP. This is now known as Squadron 42 (the single player, with no co-op planned, yet).
It was in 2015 when an unintentional (not really, but only discovered through intentional unassigned extra effort) part of planet tech happened. After that CIG asked us backers if we wanted the company to expand the scope to what we have today and to come. Backers voted something like 87% yes. I do believe they offered refunds to those who no longer wish to participate.
Thats when it split into the two separate projects. Everything in SQ42 is to be added to SC. So all that dev time will benefit the MMO.
Its much easier to dev in a closed single player. Then port those features that work in the SP to an MMO environment. And if the feature breaks, its likely a networking issue and easier to diagnose.
The reason CIG chose CryEngine, is that CryTek offered their amazing game engine for free, to 3 guys in a garage who had a vision. Can't say I blame them for taking advantage of that offer.
But it has proven difficult to make it work. The collective changes to that engine have been so extreme, it is now referred to as Star Engine. Every great game engine has to start somewhere.
Unreal Engine has taken since 1998 to get this far, and thats when it was released.
    Good job CIG!
Can't wait to see what the future holds.
The jump to Amazon Lumberyard (also CryEngine based) was to take advantage of Amazon's network structure for the MMO. And Jeff Bezos likes sci-fi, so I'm sure a good bargain was made for us SC fans.
A very complicated lawsuit ensued due to this move.
Most of SC's issues can be related to server performance. And CIG is working on the holy grail of server meshing to overcome this. Several network engineers have made media about this tech, and have a good amount of respect and appreciation for how advanced this goes in development, and what it could bring to gaming in the future.
    Ready Player One, anyone?
CIG has never forced me to spend more to play this game since 2013. And I have several thousands of hours in it.
Everything I have given them since then has been my choice. I have a lot invested, and if it doesn't work out, oh well, you live and you learn. But I'm not worried.
Even after release, this game will continue to develop, as long as funding continues. And I have yet to see anyone come up with a better idea to do that, other than "optional" ship purchases.
If you don't have it to spend on the game, you don't or won't have to. But you can still earn everything by playing the game.
Keep crying about optional ship sales, and the only other funding will be to force you to spend.
Those of you can only afford a limited amount, are playing an expensive project, made possible by your contribution, and others who have the option to spend more.
Instead of gratitude, the whole idea is met with disdain and hate.
    Pick your battles.
What we have now is way better than nothing at all.
There is a reason SC players are not playing the other options for space games.
    I have my reasons.
