We conducted this test using iPhone XS Max running on iOS 13, but the results should relatively similar on other phones using OLED displays with Dark Mode enabled.

@@angelgjr1999 My 4 years old(2015 model) Huawei still works as much as like 6s, have much greater battery life than 6s and came with 15 watt fast charing (4000 mah) which charge way faster than 6s in spite of big battery.
At that time apple fans told me that fast Charing is detrimental to battery's health , it's not last long and blah blah .

Not true, because PornHub has "dark mode" enabled constantly. So theoretically if you jerk off in dark mode with a fully charged battery, you shouldn't notice any difference in wanking time compared to light mode, unless you decide to take a break from playing with your noodle and do something else for a few minutes.

Discord conditioned to me be a big dark mode fan, it made me realize how much of an eye strain darker and mellow colors such as black and grey are, not only does it look a lot more gentle on the eye but good for night browsing and saving battery as well, what a big plus.

-is supported on many apps
Also:
-use pretty dark background to get longer battery life
-if you want to use your phone in dark (iPhone) then use the accessibility shortcut called “zoom”, and make it fullscreen zoom, then choose for the filter low lights

I absolutely love dark mode. I'm visually impaired and with my eye condition it's way easier for me to see things in dark mode. For me, the more apps I can use in dark mode the less eye strain I have, which translates to less migraines. So yeah, I'm so happy that dark mode is becoming more common.

I’m not sure if it’s just me... but I find myself really eyes-tired when using dark mode sustainedly. Indeed, I used to like it, but after using it during months, I really prefer the light appearance. On the other hand, I find that the real feature that helps me to handle looking at the screen for long periods, is True Tone. True Tone has been incredibly useful and not many people is talking about it. Whenever I disable it, I notice how much stress I’ve been avoiding thanks to it.

Once iOS 13 released with Dark Mode, I haven’t disabled it off of my iPhone X. This is how iOS should truly be experienced. The lesser amount of battery drain also makes using the mode all the more sweet.

LCD is still better for people who are sensitive to pwm
And companies are working on a fix right now called DC dimming

While OLED works more efficiently when displaying darks than LCD, LCD is more efficient in producing white.
LCD uses lesser battery with white mode or >certain higher APL and that's proven.
And reading dark text on light background is BETTER FOR YOUR EYES and also superior due to faster reading speed, and this is all proven beyond doubt. Imagine reading a book with white text and black BG.
These kinds of tests are flawed, many tests made Zenfone 6 perform worse in battery tests but the same reviewers have said not to take battery tests seriously because RL usage was different, check gizmoaddict's battery test.
Having sim cards, mobile data and switching between apps and actually watching videos in FULL SCREEN lol, consumes a lot of battery.
This is a screen intensive test which is why the difference is huge. Nobody uses UA-cam like that lmao.

Always used dark mode since geting my first amoled display phone with the onneplus 3t, and even tho I tested it because of the battery benefits (that weren't actually proven), I stayed with it because how much better I like using the phone that way. Even on computer on a well lit room, I preffer using dark colored background, and white text over black instead of black text over white.

Sadly it's far, far more complicated than that. It's why it's taken 6 years of pleading with Google to get one. Chrome is working on a version for the web, you can enable it thru chrome://flags, photos often end up inverted and some pages break, it's easy evidence why it's not as simple as just inverting colors and has taken both Google and Apple nearly a decade to enable even though AmOLED screens have been standard for 5 years. I've been skinning phones and windows for about 2 decades and you always run into Grey text on Grey backgrounds (or black on black). You honestly have to re-code almost everything.
I hate the dark grey look! Why can’t it just be pure black? It is white when light, it should be black when dark.

@Hill there is, because the pixels procuce less light in dark than when in light mode, the difference is just smaller since the pixels light up anyway but dimmer contrary to oled that turn off all the way, thats why the difference is bigger in oled screen, but it saves battery in lcd also but not very much compared to oled.

Before watching this, I used to enable dark mode only when it’s night time because it’s kinda hard to use my devices at day time while at dark mode (with twitter as exception, itks always on the dark grey mode because it’s great even at day time), but after watching this as a battery saving minded person, I will now always leave dark mode on

I currently have an iPhone XR with an LCD display. I honestly am interested in if there was a test with like an iPhone 11 (since it has the exact same screen as the XR) on light mode versus dark mode.
DSTY Black colours on LCD displays take up more energy than white so it would die even faster compared to OLED
