    I was so tedious slow charging between 50-80% all the time but my batt went down to 91% after 6 months. I think it doesn’t matter how well you take care of your charging - if you expose your battery to heat (like when I travelled to a hot country), it reduces the capaity VERY fast.

      It might be better to charge between 25% and 75%. This yielded the highest total energy output to 90% health. I assume the reason is that it keeps the battery close to 50% and avoids those higher charge states. Charging 40% to 60% might be better but that is impractical.
      Case 2: 75-25% SoC has 3,000 cycles (to 90% capacity) and delivers 150,000 EU. Utilizes 50% of battery. (EV battery, new.)

    For more than 1 year I had on my 13 Pro, 100% battery life. I didn't follow any of the rules like "Charge only to 80%" etc. However, I very rarely charged it at night and also very rarely used it while I was charging it.
    I never used a wireless charger if that interests anyone.
    I currently have 98% after about 14 months of purchase.

      Very interesting. My 12 Mini battery is at 86% after about 29 months. I used wireless charging almost from day one. But I think it was this that did the damage, subjecting the phone to excessive heat. I’ve reverted to wired charging now, hoping to slow down battery deterioration.

      I use a 13 pro max I bought in September 2022. It’s been 13 months and 11 days of usage but my battery is still at 100 percent.
      I keep my phone’s battery between 40 and 80 percent and I might not be a heavy user but a moderate one with 4-5 hours of screen on time every day. Even I barely use my phone while it is charging. And I take my phone cover off if it heats while charging. Just simple precautions I guess. Also, I live in India where it is really hot in summers (upto 40 degree centigrade).

      This video from start to finish is BS. The best way to measure battery health is to play UA-cam in landscape at maximum brightness and see how much it discharges after a couple of hours and how long it takes to discharge completely.
      I do all nearly all the wrong things. I completely discharge and charge to 100% every day using cheap cables and fast chargers. The only thing I don't do is use wireless charging as it's not only slow, it cooks both the phone's battery AND components.
      After almost 2 years, I have a cycle count of 628 (about 1 a day). My battery health is at 88% and both my UA-cam measures are about 10% worse.
      This guy can take his genuine chargers, cables & MagSafes and stick them up his Apple pushing 🍑 from which they came out of.

    I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I only use a magsafe charger such as the Belkin Boost Charge Pro. After 3 years, my battery health is at 90 percent, this is because I don't use my phone until the batter dies but, rather I try to keep the battery between 80 and 40 percent of it's capacity when I'm on the go. In most cases I've never gone below %50 and kept it from overheating as much as possible. All this is why my batter health is where it is.

    I have my Iphone 14 pro max since november 2022, and the battery is still at 100%. What I do:
    - Charge ONLY with 5 watt charger, as it makes a linear charge and dont heat the battery at all.
    - Charge it at night time.
    - NEVER using it while charging it.
    - I dont use it under the sun unless its totally necesary as it can get extremly hot.
    - If Im playing some games or whatching a lot of tiktoks, I check the temperature of the phone every 10 minutes, and once It starts to get warm, i stop using it.
    - If, for example, I have a 50% at the end of the day, i charge it the next morning while working when its about 30% and before launchtime when its about 70-80% I disconect it so at the end of the day im at 30% for example.
    I think the most important ones are the first and the third point.
    It might seems as im a little bit paranoid, but I think I'm just taking care of a reeeally expensive device and I want it to last 5-6 years as my Iphone X did ^^
    Hope It helps you!

    • @blckwaterpark
      @blckwaterpark Рік тому +26

      if you start checking the temperature every 10 minutes it now reaches a point where you're in obsessive behavior.
      Theres a lot more value in using the device and enjoying it than prioritizing a cheap replaceable part and being distracted with overprotecting it.
      The odds are by the time 5-6 years pass you will have lost, broken or upgraded the phone anyway where like the guy says, it wont matter.

    • @TopGAli
      @TopGAli 11 місяців тому +3

      Yeah, I don't do all that and it definitely isn't needed. I have the same phone, and I'm at a 100%. Had the phone since November. What I do is not let my iPhone get below 30%, and I do use the 20 watt charger. The iPhone 14 is better at regulating its temperature better than the previous iPhones. I am surprised to still be at a 100% given I use my phone a lot. One thing I do not do is play games that heat up my phone, but regardless of that my average screen time is 7hr plus every day. I could also just simply be lucky and got the best battery in my iPhone.

    according to battery university, cycling your battery between 65-75% could let you optimise the charging even better, because even with the 80% limit setting of the 15 Pro models enabled the phone will still get pretty warm when charging from a low state to 80 in one go. With this 10% range I get around 10-15 minutes of charging time and a good 2 hours of video streaming will have it back at 65 triggering an automation that reminds me to plug it in. Unfortunately you can't limit the capacity to 75% so I'm having the 80% limit turned on just in case I forget to unplug it, but usually there's another automation activated when reaching 75 and another one when rising over so I don't have to check when to unplug

    100% agree with that last part. Just use your iPhone as you want. Too many folks, especially on Reddit, keep asking for best charging practices and ways to keep battery health degradation. Some people swear by slow charging, some actually try that stupid 80/20 rule. So much mental energy is being put into battery anxiety. I tell people the same thing….it’s a smartphone and it will automatically do all those things for you. If it gets too hot it will dim the screen and even shut off. Fast charging slows down after a certain point to preserve battery health.
    It’s bad enough we have financial anxiety. We don’t need to add battery anxiety to the list. Enjoy and use the phone. Find other ways to make extra money because nothing is doing that for you automatically. 😂😂

    • @HausOfMontague
      @HausOfMontague 7 місяців тому +9

      @@FuzzyDlop What’s ignorant is that I never said that the 80/20 rule didn’t work. I said that people have tired it. Meaning spending extra mental energy and time out their lives to charge in such an impractical way. From the research I’ve read the 80/20 rule only saves about 1-2% of battery health. It’s not worth all that effort to save 2% battery health. Everyone is free to do that if they want. But at that point they’re not enjoying the phone anymore just worrying about battery health. So before you start looking for flaws in someone’s comment you should research true long term effects and multiple considerations that can contribute to effects to the 80/20 rule. You should spend your time doing something more constructive.

    I’ve had my iPhone 13 just over nine months and I thought I’d try an experiment were I only charge it from about 40-80 % and have never charged it over night and only charged it to 100 % a few times eg on a road trip using CarPlay. 9 months later it’s still claiming 100% capacity but I agree with the end of the video it’s not really worth having to think about it all the time. I did have an 11 before this and charged it every night and didn’t think about when I plugged it in within 3 months it dropped a percentage but I felt like I lived the phone I don’t feel that way with this phone with how I use it.
    Also I’ve found when charging it to only 80 percent and using it at work for short bursts at a time and using social media at break times because it’s not charged up a lot and it goes down it kinda tricks your brain into thinking you’ve got a bad battery wer as if charged fully it would be at a higher percentage by the end of the day making you think I’ve got a great battery.
    All in all ya not really worth thinking about it all the time just use the phone.
    Good video, enjoyed someone else’s perspective on it.

    I got a iPhone 14 Pro Max that I bought right at launch, now after 16 months I still got 100% battery capacity. I upgraded from a iPhone Xs (after 4 years 92% battery capacity) so the difference in battery life is insane.
    I had to charge my old phone basicly everyday and now I get 2-3 days of battery life depending if I use it more or less.
    If it interests you guys I only charged my phone with magsafe after 2-3 days when the battery is around 20-30% and then charged it to 100%.
    My dad got the same 14 Pro Max at launch and uses it more, he uses around 50% of the battery a day and recharges it via magsafe every night to 100% (with the optimized battery charge enabled and I dont use that) he now has 92% battery health.
    What do you guys think why its that low on my dads? Is it the 2-3x more times he charges it, even if its not a full battery cycle or is it the higher use in general (in theory its x2 what I spend on my phone)

    can you please tell me some info about iPhone 15 pro 80% battery limit ?? I did enable 80% of charging limit on my iPhone 15 pro . But when I charge my phone it always goes above on 80% during the charging. Is there anything wrong happening?
    and in the apple website they are saying " With 80% Limit enabled, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates " what does it even meaning ??

I upgrade my iPhone every year since the 3GS and as long as we have been able to see battery health I've never seen mine go below 97%.
