if you reverse the wires on the kato table, you'll short out. the bridge connects both sides so outside rail is always outside rail, inside rail is always inside rail regardless of what side of the table you're on. both rails across from each other need to be the same.
They are a bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion. It's reliable, indexes properly every time, and for me, works with the rest of the Kato Unitrack on the layout. I'm going to weather it, too because nothing in railroading looks shiny for long!
Sure needed this video! Just found a Kato turntable and I'm gonna hook up with my NCE system! Very helpful. Have you had to make any wiring changes since this video?
not sure if you still monitor this thread but i happened upon this video and was pleasantly surprised to see a KATO TT but a Walthers round house - that is my setup and i am trying to do what you did and jury rig the TT to be able to have locos enter the round house. Can you just let me know how you connected from the TT to the house for example did you use flex track connected to the TT tracks thanks a lot!
You just so happened to comment while i was logged on but yes, the Kato TT and the Atlas round house do not play nice together at all. The spacing on the TT is at too wide an angle. So, in this video it was on the old set up and the tracks were really close together (almost unusable). In my more recent videos with the rebuild of this area, I moved the roundhouse away from the TT giving me enough space to use more flex track to soften the angles and still provide enough space into the doorways. it's a mother, so play with it a bit to see which track configuration you can use. the more space you get between the TT and the roundhouse will make the difference. You're going to have to use flex track because there's no sectional track that's going to put up with the nonsense you're going to have to do to make it work.
@@AlleghenyNorthern hey first thnx for the reply and you did validate the fact that the TT and the round house will need to be spaced pretty far apart and that flex is really the only way to go - i had already put the Walthers roundhouse kit together a while ago because i really liked the way it looked compared to the KATO house and for some reason i was hoping it could somehow match up - rookie mistake and i ain't no rookie :o) PS great channel you do a real nice job on the explanations!! continued success!!
Yes. I haven't had any operational issue with it. it always indexes correctly and with the AR1, i never have a short. it's important to notice how the electrical is blocked in quarters so you isolate the rails correctly. make sure the panels that go around with the track leads seat properly in the rests. there's a metal contact strip that powers the bridge and if the panels are set correctly the bridge will get hung up.
Very nice. Love the changes your making to an already awesome layout. Thanks for sharing!
Great addiction to the Layout. Bob
the turntable powers the track segments - so you have to reverse the wires on the tracks coming off of opposite sides

Those KATO turntables are nice but kinda pricey. Looks great on the layout. Thanks for sharing. Dave

Great information for a novice N Scaler like me. Thanks for sharing...Anthony

Nope, the turntable wiring hasn't been changed.
Nice, thank you.

Very nice. We're seriously thinking about adding one of these (now in 2021). Are you still sold on this Kato turntable? Thanks!

@@AlleghenyNorthern thanks for this!
