@@Harry-gc8kblike alaways whit Zimerman, his interpretation of the sonata in B minor is wonderful too or just any of the ballades, they’re all breathtaking
Thanks for sharing. In many moments the music is played so straightforwardly (or is even rushed) that it surprises me that this is Zimmerman or Chopin. Despite that, this sonata is so wonderful (and following it with the score) that I listened to it till the end and I enjoyed it.
Is this not the most sublime piece of music ever written? My head swims at trying to follow the score. But then just to give it up to KZ and the piano! Bravo.
is anyone gonna talk about the increbile balance of the second movement?! Like my gosh, how is it so articulated perfectly, even when slowed down you can hear the notes perfectly!
Zimerman's recordings are generally well-behaved and not overly aggressive and at standard tempo. This sounds a bit different from his usual recordings lol, his fourth movement is so intense but definitely not vulgar!
His studio recordings are like that (he is a perfectionist in that regard, almost to a fault), but his live playing is generally regarded as more spontaneous.
Fialkowska does it better IMO. This is technically amazing, but the Fialkowska respects rhythm much more and when she does play with the rhythm or dynamics it’s much more deliberate
I like the 3rd and 4th movt. But the 1st and 2nd movt seems too hurried. Does his style sounds a bit more classical than romantic, sounds similar to beethoven somehow
Yeah, it was "pretty," but it didn't transcend like this movement normally would... It felt _long,_ and that's not something I usually get with this movement.
It’s not an official recording, and he’s older in this recording since it was 2003. And like the others say, the last movement and the voicing , it’s definitely him
I think since some years Zimerman follows the same style: pure hypertechnic, that fails for Schubert and is not best for Chopin. I prefer the Zimerman from its Liszt records, Chopin by Lipatti and Gilels😊
I've been to a couple of his concerts and noticed that he tends to play differently every time, sometimes in very extreme ways :) and this recording IS Zimerman himself playing ;)
The fourth movement has been playing in my head non stop for the past week. Such an indescribably epic yet catchy melody
Very Schumannesque as well.
@@christophedevos3760 schumann is wonderful and yearning. chopin is ... everything

It is Zimerman. You can tell from the 4th movement. I heard him play it live. Nobody plays the last mvt. like him.

Chopin killed that final movement. (In a good way)

You can hear Beethoven's influence in this sonata -- it's Chopin on steroids.
The coda strikes me as blindingly muddled
