Thinning the heard is never easy. I have to agree with you that this iteration of the Pepsi is much more warm than the current. I have a batgirl myself and love it. However, I see myself going vintage when I get the Pepsi.
I would keep the 6 digit. It’s much more modern, in your case WG with that nice blue dial. At some point in my collection journey I had 3 GMTs - BLNR jubilee, Rootbeer, BLRO jubilee. I decided to keep only 1 and it’s the BLRO. It’s the quintessential GMT watch for me.
I have an explorer 2 and a sub 124060. Having the glide adjustment on the sub is so amazing throughout the day to the point that it is hard to wear and enjoy the explorer 2, as it simply is either too tight or too loose. I can’t imagine what these older Rolexes would feel like. Purely from a looks standpoint I would say the 5 digit Pepsi easily trumps the new one, but taking into account wearability, I agree modern probably wins
The glide-lock system is amazing and such a great convenience. I have found the bracelet sizing on other Rolex to be hit-and-miss. Sometimes perfect even without glide-lock, sometimes not so good. But generally the 6 digit bracelets fit me better.
Agree, I just had to let this one go. It has a beautiful bezel and dial, and the case diameter is good for my wrist, but something was off about the bracelet, and the bezel turning action is old generation. I purchased it pre-owned, so it really never had a special lasting connection to me. My white gold GMT Master-II will continue to serve me well. I love the extra weight, the luster to the gold, the bezel action, the updated clasp, and the midnight blue dial. The meteorite dial is even better, but it is out of reach for me... My next video will feature a watch that has a much more special sentimental connection to me...
Ah man thats a tough choice. In one way i don’t envy you having to make these decisions, but its also an enviable position to be in! Sometimes some watches just have to go. Its a great 2 watch pre ceramic collection but if thats not the direction you want your collection to go in then it’s gotta go!
I would keep both. I have five GMTs, two preceramics and three six digits. I would really have seller’s regret if I sold any of them. Maybe not today but tomorrow.
I prefer the five digits but I'm biased. I too own a 16710BLRO as well as 16610 Sub and for my 6.75 inch, they both fit perfectly. That said, my favorite Rolex is my 16623 Yacht-Master. In my old age, I'm starting to like wearing two tone watches.
You missed a couple of points that made me stick with my preceramic. More versatile (I own both bracelets and 3 bezel inserts), more comfortable and more future proof servicing by independents
Good points, but in my case, my GMT originally came with an Oyster bracelet, and I was not able to order a new jubilee bracelet. My AD was not able order one for me, and after sending it in to the official Rolex Service Center, they also refused to sell me a Jubilee bracelet for cost. I might have kept it, if I had the option of wearing it on both bracelets...
I'm in the keep them both camp. Not very useful! My personal choice if pushed would be the 16710. Reading comments on the bracelets here, it's worth mentioning that it is possible to remove the 'fixed' links using a readily available tool that clamps the bracelet and pulls it apart. There's one available on an online auction site for about $150. They can be used either to remove a link or to dismantle and re-pin the whole bracelet if required.
The bracelet jingling wasn't a big deal, I could live with it. It was just one of several factors. I just have too many watches to enjoy, and this was lowest on the list.
@@oddpout That is my thought. My Submariner Date and Datejust can continue to serve me as my 5-digit representatives. I can let go of this GMT, especially since I now have a more modern version GMT. My next video will be on my 5-digit Datejust. My precious OG.
Rolex submariner and the Pepsi rolex is a great watch and since you have 2 Pepsi rolex white gold is a work of art and it's in a class of it's own from the other gmt line and Pepsi meteorite is so difficult to get for a AD and even any sports model is hard. It's the Pepsi goes , you still have wg Pepsi and its stunning and a conversation piece.
My thoughts too. The White Gold Pepsi is very under-rated and deserves more attention. As the steel BLRO becomes more popular the price delta between the steel and the white gold continues to shrink. All gold and the blue dial are a bonus for me.
If I had no memories with the 16610, no I would not keep it. I would keep my Submariner 124060 to replace it, because of the superior bracelet and glide lock clasp and bezel action and no date.
The six digit. I have a 14060M which I feel wears top-heavy thanks to the lightweight bracelet and clasp. I'm assuming the GMT 5 digit is similar. Also these older refs can only go down to five links on the 6 o'clock side which means the clasp isn't centred on smaller wrists like mine (actually I've hade the bracelet put on the wrong way around to workaround this). Personally I find the Pepsi too garish for my tastes and prefer the Batman.
No on-the-fly microadjustment. It is a negative. I could tighten the bracelet with a pin tool or toothpick, but I just haven't bothered to dig out my tool from the closet. The next owner will enjoy it more.
Just put the 16710 on a 97200 bracelet from ceramic Sub 116610 with glide lock. This makes it a perfect Rolex.
I didn’t know this was possible.
@@sc1 it is, it fits like a glove :)

You wear it nicely. Great watch! Love the 16710!
I’d keep the 5 digit. Better looking, understated, and more respected by true Rolex and watch people.
Great video my man and tough decision to make, but it’s your journey and we are here to support you 👍🏼

In my humble opinion. The five digit rolex are better looking watches. But the modern pieces feel so much better on the wrist

Couldn’t agree more
Never easy to let go of a watch, but I think you made a good decision. White gold adds something to the equation for sure

Thanks for the foresight that you found the 16710 to eventually be too “jingly jangly” - wonder if that will happen to me too after I acquire it
The bracelet jingling wasn't a big deal, I could live with it. It was just one of several factors. I just have too many watches to enjoy, and this was lowest on the list.
@@sc1 I see - the submariner pre-ceramic is probably kind of similar to it and can keep you company in this one's absence :)

Absolutely spot on - an AD in London said yesterday that they get 1 GMT meteorite every 2 years - so I think that bird is slowly going extinct
Very cool! I like both!!!
Awesome, Thank you.
sometimes we just have to say goodbye and move on . . .
I'll say goodbye to this one for now, while looking forward to the opportunity to purchase a more elevated piece in the future...
If the 16610 sub didn't have the sentimental value attached - would it still stick around as part of a small collection for you?
If I had no memories with the 16610, no I would not keep it. I would keep my Submariner 124060 to replace it, because of the superior bracelet and glide lock clasp and bezel action and no date.
A video of who how when and how much would be interesting when you let this piece go 🤔😉

how much?
Have you sold the 16710?
The watch is so loose on your wrist it looks like you borrowed it from someone. Keep the ceramic GMT and let someone else enjoy this one.
