It’s good to be king… Is Ayala a Spanish family that owns everything in the Philippines? I thought you had to be Filipino to own property here in the Philippines? 🤔
The ayalas have been here since spanish regime. When Philippines was liberated, they stayed. They are old money, since spanish era, they're filipino citizens. There is no such thing as the Filipino race. Filipinos are very diverse. Some are pure blooded Spanish, pure Chinese. Those in the northern parts specially in the Cordilleras and Batanes share DNA with East asians. Some share their dna with other SEAsians, specially Indonesians and Malaysians, hence why some words specially in the south are the same with Bahasa. Other Filipinos share DNA with Pacific Islanders. Other Filipinos may have drops of middle eastern blood due to the Arab traders who were here before the Spaniards. Philippines was predominantly a muslim place before the Spaniards came. Others may have DNA the same as Mexicans and Aztec Indians due to the Galleon trade where some south american natives were brought here by the Spaniards. Hence why 10% of Filipino words are of Nahuatl origin, the language of the Aztecs. Some Filipinos, one of the earliest settlers, resembles those of the african people. Others are a combination of all these races due to generations of inter-marriage. Others are meztiso, the term we use for half Filipinos. That's why when you look at Filipinos were very diverse in physical traits, skin color, hair. Some will look middle eastern or south asians, others look like latinos, some have east asian traits and eyes, some quite eurasians, while some have african traits, kinky hair and dark skin.
They are real Filipinos because Philippines was only born during Spanish time. Hence, the name Philippines was derived from the King of Spain that time. Which was King Philip. The native inhabitants of the Philippines were the Maharlikans. The Ayalas of today are called insulares meaning Spaniards born in the Philippines.

Interesting fact about Ruth's Chris Steak House. The Ruth's Chris Steak House in the Philippines is more expensive than the Ruth's Chris here in the US. For example, the Tomahawk Ribeye 40 oz is P12,000 there and $170 here in the US. $170 is only P9,548.90. That's a P2451.10 difference or $43.64.
I’ve never been to the Phillipines, been to Thailand five times for three month stays , leaned how to speak a little Thai, can figure out the exchange rate in my head , never feel out of my comfort zone while I’m there etc etc,.. but the thought of retiring there with these new taxation laws that appear to be coming down the pike have me seriously looking into the Phillipines

Hi Sit Brian! How are you living/visiting my country? Hope you are always okay! Enjoy and be happy. Staying here. Be Safe always Sir. ❤❤❤ God bless you Sir!
Try to visit Tagaytay, just 3 hrs drive from Metro Manila. So many beautiful places and sceneries there like Twin Lakes, Crosswinds, Tagaytay Highlands, etc. But the main attraction there is Taal Volcano within a lake. Best if you rent a car going there.
I'm retiring in 6 1/2 years in Lipa City. Getting out of the stress, the thugs, and political machine that keeps westerners working till 70 or older. I see alot of them such a shame. Remember you can live very well off of a budget of $1000 there in most Asian countries. The naysayers don't know how to budget or spend their savings on women. Be smart, take your time, do your research & breathe. Good luck to those who leave their home countries & explore & live a revived life. As for me I already visited 27 countries & like the Philippines 🇵🇭 & it will be my new home soon
Please listen up people. You will not... not live well off 1k in asia. I really dont understand why these expats and retirees say you can. rent alone can cost up 1 thousand. please do the math. You would not be able to leave your room for 1k a month. How bout food, party, girls, movies, shopping, travel to other places. Just keeping it real.
1000 usd rent this is why these expats go broke. You can get a very nice place for $300 a month. How about Google it. I like these scare tactics these people use. Stop selling your BS to make people think it is so expensive. My wife is Filipina & her sister lives in Binan Laguna & has a very nice 2 bedroom apartment for 5000PHP. If your paying $1000 rent a month you better pack your bags & go back to your country. Funny people.
Also, let me add alot of expats go broke because they act like Big Shots over in the Philippines & other Asian countries. They come with a little social security check & very little savings. They then spend recklessly & before you know it they are homeless living on the streets. My Filipina wife has commented many times about this. They try to borrow money & then get in trouble with either their visa or passport. Like I said earlier you can afford to make it for a $1000 a month to pay for rent, food, clothing, water, electric etc. Now if you want to travel, go out to eat & do a lot of spending money yeah you need more than $1000 a month to cover all that. Then you would need another $500 or more especially if you pay $1000 USD a month for a place to stay at. Google apartments & condos. I do recommend having the very least $75k in USD for unforseen bills such as hospital visit or repairs to car or motorcycle. Good luck in retirement. Always remember to live YOUR LIFE, but not someone else's.
Yes you can get a place for 1000 USD a month forsure! I actually live in Cebu city but you can get a nice place for like $1200 there in BGC even cheaper in Makati.
