Cheap is a relative term. The Philippines is "cheap" for foreigners because of the buying power of their currency. The minimum wage in the Philippines is P650/day. That's barely $13 for a whole day's work. A teenager in the US working at McDonald's make $15/hour. A nurse in the Philippines makes an average of P30,000/month (around $600). You pay P35,000 for your condo. Do the math. BGC does not represent Philippines, not even close. Go to the provinces, you'll see the real Philippines. I'm from the province of Laguna, just south of Manila. It's the 21st century, but in my small town there are still many homes that don't have indoor plumbing, and a few that don't have electricity. I know, hard to believe, right? I could go on, but I'll leave it here for now. Have a good day. 😎🙏
Great if you are paying in USA dollars.Try Australian or Canadian and prices with conversion are on par.A few dollars less on some items like rent, but everything else is the same price as in Canada😅
Thank you Mr Brian all your positive description re the PH country & the Filipinos. Every country around the world has positive & negatives anyway. The best in the PH is fully relaxation, cheap facials & body massage, cheap clothings & cheap foods. The Filipinos culture ie: Bayanihan, warm friendly smile, love sense of humor, very hospitable & generous, easy going type of living.
I believe, within 10 / 15 years, BGC will be a separate city from Taguig, and double the size. Those new towns and cities being built up and down the archipelago will be sought after like diamonds. I had plans of living in BGC, but my EURos will not be enough to sustain the kind of good lifestyle I have here. A shame because I'd love to live right on the premises, being a TOwnie all my life. Sure I can dine and wine, enjoy the ambience, once in a while. Thanks Brian for your thoughtful narrative. See you next year.
I've been living in the USA for 25 yrs. You hit it right on the spot about the "Street food". I miss those good old days when I was able broke ass high-school student on a budget 😂❤😂
You have to be open-minded and appreciate the culture and the people living in the Philippines. If you can't adjust and appreciate the people, the Philippines is not for you.
If you're getting your own AC unit get an inverter or a double inverter. It will cut your electric bill by half or more. By the way I pay around $360 monthly for my high-end condo in Ortigas, compare to my rundown apartment outside Los Angeles for $1,500
Brian visit Greenfield District very nice there.street food, food trucks at night, walkable to Shangri-la mall , hotel, megamall podium , robinsons and many more .try it my friend
I have free train since 2022 to go around where i live, around Valencia in Spain. Subway is 4 euros for 10 trips in Valencia and suburbs, and there is much more subways stations than in Manila. How much the train to go inside Manila and suburbs? Oh there is not, and the metro / subway has very few stations in Manila and nothing in the suburbs, true ?
How much is 100% virgen olive oil there ? I bought some a few days ago where i live, i paid 22,50 euros for 3 liters, which is 7,50 euros one liter, let me know how much in the Philippines please.
Hi Brian great channel. Would it be easy enough getting a nice apartment in BGC for 1100usd including utilities if I only wanted a 3 month contract? ..and what would you say are the best 3-5 months of the year for the least pollution? Thanks!
I HAVE BEEN OFFERED A POSITION AS A VOLUNTEER IN A SMALL TOWN SOUTH OF MANILA WITH FREE ACCOMDATION , I HAVE BEEN HERE NEARLY A YEAR NOW WITH A VERY EDUCATED FILLIPINO FAMILY. ITS NOT MY FIRST TIME IN THE PHILIPPINES I HAVE BEEN COMING HERE SINCE 2001
That is a rather flowery description of Balut, my man... I dunno ... 🤔 It's around three to four bucks for a cold PBR up here where I'm at on the side of Mount Hood. A little ways out of Sandy. That is if you want to hang out in a joint with the personality of a deflated balloon tire on your Schwinn stuck out on a cold, slimy mountain trail in the driving rain with a missing codpiece. 😢
Hey Brian my name is Gary I just moved to the Philippines and was wondering where in BGC you are located i am currently staying in Azure North but would like to move to BGC
A single Filipino like Bryan, 2000 usd would be a huge blessing. Filipinos have slightly different take on “luxury”, lesser than Bryan would require. 😂😂😂
Yes, it’s cheaper here but the quality is poor. And to get the kilo of ground beef for 500 pesos how many hassles? How far did you travel? How much was the grab ride? How many beggars annoyed you? How many ppl at the store cut the queue? How long did you wait in line? I guess 25 minutes. Yes it’s cheaper there but it does not mean better. This place sucks, IMO. This is one example from the first min of your video. I could post a novel and rebuttal most of your narratives. After 3 weeks you start to see the Philippines for what it is. It’s not for everyone. Very few are happy here.
If he lives in BGC, there are several supermarkets and grocery stores within a ten-minute walk. There's Marketplace and Savemore and a couple of others where one can get good quality beef, pork, and chicken. No vagrants, and there's always a line at the checkout counter. You probably need to get laid.
Health system very bad and hot weather all time and street food the worst in the world unhealthy not clean and poor people asking for money They are to much every where and government philippines corporations and this affected all government services
One has buy drinking water over and over . Air condition doesn’t work when electricity is off ( a lot ) washing your cloth by hand or unfit water, houses so close together and made from hollow block , No hot water unless you fork lot money . If you rich you can afford , but the men over there drawing 760.00 to 1200.00 . This guy not hood with math . The house you own or built would cost you double . Land so hig
Hi I live in England Buckinghamshire I watch your vlog it’s interesting in very well sayed . In the west is soo boring you are so lucky. Here is cold in more expensive. Life in here is more money and no life. Stock in the cold.🤙👌
Yeah, true, but he is looking at it in a Foreigner perspective. Which I totally agree with him. I am paying $960/week for my 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney (CBD), Australia. That 35k/Month Pesos sure sounds better than $960/week.
@@JABM-AU well he ran through his list. Food, electric, rent. If he's not bar fining or drinking, you're looking at $1000. Those are his biggest cost. What else would add another 1k to 2k to his budget? And why didn't he mention such a costly item(s) Ubers, some other entertainment, etc are all small costs compared to the big 3. Either le left something big ticket things out or, the math isn't mathing
Doesn’t matter what you pay there. It’s all too expensive. The value you get for your money is extremely bad. Also, if you do stay at an expensive hotel or condo. The second you leave that place you are smack dab in the middle of a slum and surrounded by poverty. Doesn’t feel too good be like that. Glad I left. I hated it there so much.
Im not sure if you watched "wanted" a.jolie movie. But you sound like the main guy at the begining. Im waiting for the hot chick that would drive up and pick you up in a sports car. 😂
You guys are nothing but trouble 👿 you all tell guys about the good things of life in the Philippines, but you failed to tell guys there are laws. And the laws are serious. There is a catch, don’t violate laws. These guys are trouble!!! Go on Google and review the laws, a guy gets involved with a married woman he is in trouble can never imagine. Jail and prison is waiting. There’s no divorce in the Philippines, get involved with a married woman you are serious trouble. This guy is trouble, he telling you about the good and wonderful things about the Philippines, it’s true, but he’s not saying anything about what can happen if laws are violated. Stay far away from married women, some are very beautiful, you caught with one you are going to jail or prison, and you going to pay her husband a lot of money. And also the police and still go to jail. Don’t trust these guys who leave out important information. Yes the Philippines is a wonderful place, but are laws you don’t want to violate, because there no way around them. Husbands has a lot of rights, and the judge is Filipino and he is not going to play with you, violate the law you are going to jail. Their jail is nothing like home. Remember the American embassy can’t help you. All they will do is try to contact your family back home where you came from and try to get you money from your family, that’s all, the courts move extremely slow. A person can be in jail for a long time before they even see a court or a judge. Don’t trust this guy who is leaving out a lot of information. Review Google carefully concerning the laws. And check out others and get all the information you need to know. They will try to keep you safe if you listen and learn.
Is anybody paying less rent than me? 35000 Pesos or $620 American dollars?

Anything he says that’s positive is a lie. That is the worst country in the world. So god awful bad. Terrible people. So glad I left.

620 a month is very high in Philippines
You should write a book about all of these, Brian. Love hearing your narratives in prose but they’re probably better off being read in one book
Maybe in10 to 15 years the Manila subway might be operational. BGC will be repucated in so many communities that by Makati it will be obsolete.
I've been living in the USA for 25 yrs. You hit it right on the spot about the "Street food". I miss those good old days when I was able broke ass high-school student on a budget 😂❤😂
I love ur style of narrations..keep it up brotha..new sub here..🎉🎉😊

I like your vibe.....I am now a subscriber. My soon to be paradise is Thailand.
How is this the first time I’ve seen your videos when I’ve been pondering a move to the Philippines for the past 8 months? Thanks Brian!
Better late than never

Hey, Brian. Try traveling to Greenbelt Makati, which is around a 10-minute commute from BGC by Grab or taxi. It's like BGC, but older.
Going in March, can’t wait 👍

Definitely talk about the brass tacks... i highly recommend the smb cerveza negra, the smb super dry and for the common touch- red horse.
A man of culture I see 🍻
