Excellent video!! Professional, well articulated, clear video, concise instructions. Refreshing to see a video that doesn't have kids swearing and loud music in the background
AutoHowTv. Good for you for knowing it doesn't produce more horsepower unless it's getting cold air ! Most people don't understand the science behind a COLD air intake. I have done a ton of research and the sound and look is about the only reason to install one.
For the guys that have invested or are going to invest in this set of intakes. Getting a pair of silicone air intake hose is a must. That way you don't have to worry about the OEM rubber accordion intake hose cracking which is inevitable.
Nothing like giving people from your community another reason to hate your car. Still gonna do it eventually, I’ll try not to disturb residential though 😂
hey whats going on bro. quick question. i have a 2007 nissan 350z. if i install a cold air intake in to my car. would that have any effect with the check engine light. or do any lights pop on dash board. would really help thank you
@@teadeez69 correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere it has to be programmed or else you may get a check engine light. Not sure if that only applies to bigger/longer intakes....
do these intakes actually seal with the hood to keep heat out? i know almost all short rams dont. and jim wolf is quality nissan stuff that is rather unknown by people who arent die hard enthusiasts. just wondering if it loses power like other short rams or it actually seals with the hood and adds power
kgkustomz97ser I was thinking the same , the heat shield looks great but the cone filter still looked like it would intake some hot air. The filter should always be fully covered, like the oem but with a larger intake aka the cone filter.
The jwt intakes on the 350Z hr & 370z look different from a 03-06 350z one is this a improved model? The one i have the cones are not that wide & didnt come eith the metal pipe only heat shild bolts & the cone these look nicer to
+Eero Laukkanen Thanks Euro, Jim Wolf Technology lists power figures and price on this page: www.jimwolftechnology.com/customer_part_detail.asp?PartID=350 6.5 hp may not seem like a lot but there are some systems that lose power or exaggerate claims. It also depends on other mods you may have. But like I said in one comment, I really liked the sound. If you're looking for power and sound check out my video on the high flow cat install: ua-cam.com/video/bH9irOK9sdo/v-deo.html
Yes, should be very similar if not identical from what I remember (I later had a 370Z). For the 370Z you will want to use this part number: www.jimwolftechnology.com/customer_part_detail.asp?PartID=488
+Ahmed R Are you referring to the heat shields as seen around 4:10? I haven't seen them for sale separately. You could try giving Jim Wolf Technology a call and see if they have replacement parts.
+Alberto R. Advantages: great sound, a few horsepower depending on kit, looks good under the hood. Disadvantages: costs money, can be a hot air intake if you get a badly designed one, have to avoid heavily oiled filters that may mess with MAF sensor, have to check it from time to time to make sure it's all bolted tightly/not rubbing. For me it really was the sound that sold me on this kit.
That's a fair question - I got the Z new and as part of the deal negotiated the option to buy a Nismo exhaust at the dealer's cost. So to answer your question - my local Nissan dealer. It was still pricey and I recommend looking for one second-hand if possible. Check that all the welds have held up though. Later on when I bought a used 370Z it had a Fast Intentions cat-back. I recommend that brand if you want more sound from the get-go without being obnoxious.
AutoHowTV yup looking on ebay but still too pricey. I'm better off with Fast Intentions or DNA Motoring/Speed Daddy exhaust. I don't want any drone though or as little as possible like the ARK(expensive as well)
+Farhan C It's not too bad but you know yourself better than I do! Maybe you can start with some quick mods if you are just getting into modding. Or just watch the video until it's second nature. I remember the first time I had to take a valve cover off to replace lifters. I printed out the directions and read them so many times. If you have questions on a specific step let me know.

Thanks! I hope it helped you with your car.
This is one of the best 350z mod related videos I’ve ever see , oh my god. Thank you so much

Yes, great suggestion.

Great video! Really informative and helpful!
i noticed you kept the stock rubber pieces connected to the engine. Why so??? when the kit comes with the entire thing

osoe c it won't if all the sensors are plugged back in where they're supposed to be
osoe c it shouldn't make a difference buddy

Hey Jeffrey - Sorry, I have not seen the JWT ones for the pre HR motors.
Good Job! Couple questions: how many horsepowers more?? And how much they cost?? Thanks, sounds good=)

I WENT TO THE SITE AND I COULDN'T FIND THEM. CAN YOU TELL ME THE LINK
I updated the description here as well to include the information from the old autohow.tv site. Thanks for the reminder.
does this also apply to the vq37vhr motor from a 370z? Can these be used on that vehicle also?

Honest question.. whats the advantage/disadvantage of installing a cold air intake.?
Have a 2012 Infiniti g37

What tools will you need
If you buy dual Injen intakes, no modifications are necessary 😉
Thats a clean 350z engine lol
I want to do so many things to my Z but sadly it's auto :/
+Angel zamora It's still a Z - enjoy it! My cousin did a lot of work to his automatic G37 and it's pretty mean.
350 or 370?
just got my z33 on 04/30, bc couldnt find z34&i have fallen in love with my z33 haha. nismo CAI just came in and just installed it in.
Congrats! I've owned and enjoyed both. But with a Z33 you get more $$ left to mod or save. Either way, you win.
You add an exhaust?
Yes, it had the Nismo exhaust before and after the install. Exhaust added a nice sound outside, intake brought more sound to the cabin.
AutoHowTV not to sound like an idiot, but where did you buy the nismo exhaust from?
That's a fair question - I got the Z new and as part of the deal negotiated the option to buy a Nismo exhaust at the dealer's cost. So to answer your question - my local Nissan dealer. If going with Fast Intentions you should be able to opt for a bigger resonator too to dial in the sound you want.
That lady was just trying to halla at you
Haha, you know it!
She wanted a ride
This looks like lot of work man. I'm gonna mess this up for sure! :(
