    I'm definitely upgrading to the pro series tweeters and mids. I've already got the p1000.1 and p400x4, (4) p1692 6x9's, p132 3.5's, and (2) p3d4-12's wired to 1ohm. I'm working on changing my head unit beforehand though. But I will make that purchase soon enough!

    Hi, I have a pair of pps4-10 and a pair of pp4-t and I'll be pairing a midrange and tweeter in a cabinet. Now paired together,one 10" and one tweeter is 400 watts rms and the rockford crossover only handles 125rms. So if I use the crossover I will be under powering my speakers,correct? So will I be better off using the crossover from my headunit?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  5 років тому

      An amplifier "sees" speakers and allocates power based on the speaker's frequency crossover range, like the way a prism divides light into colors. The amplifier will "see" a 4-ohm load between 40Hz - 4kHz for the PPS4-10 which is rated to handle 350 Watts RMS. The amplifier will "see" a 4-ohm load between 4kHz - 20kHz for the PP4-T that is rated to handle 50 Watts RMS. The crossover is rated to pass up to 125 Watts through its circuitry to the speakers. This is plenty of power to feed these drivers because they are ultra-high sensitivity, meaning they don't require as much power compared to an equivalent speaker of the same size.

      Yes, you can use the PPS4-8 has an 80Hz-5kHz frequency response, so it can work as a good mid-bass woofer.

      Most systems work fine with a tweeter, 6" or 6.5" and subwoofer. Midbass drivers are typically for SQ installations where your midrange drivers may bottom out and need to be crossed over at a higher frequency.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  5 років тому

      The PPS4-6 are rated to handle 100 Watts RMS and are 4-ohm drivers. The PP4-T are rated to handle 50 Watts RMS. We assume you'll be using a tweeter+midrange for the left and a tweeter+midrange for the right, correct? If you're looking for a 2-channel amplifier, be absolutely sure you use the capacitor for the tweeter (+) terminal for each side. You could use either the Punch P300X2 or the compact Punch PBR300X2.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  7 років тому

      The frequency response of the 6.5" Punch Pro is 85Hz-5kHz so these will work fine for midbass frequencies (200Hz-400Hz). Keep in mind, these are SPL speakers so they are designed to be ultra-loud! If you're looking for more balanced sound (sound quality), we suggest using traditional Punch speakers.

I'm about to install 2 PPS4-8 - Punch Pro 8 "4-Ohm Midrange and 1 PP4-T - Punch Pro 1.5" 4-Ohm Tweeter on a PP4-X - Punch Pro Passive Crossover for use with 4- Ohm Midrange, on a p300x2 amp, I wanted to know if I have to bridge my amp to 300rms and equal to the 3 Speaker and with the cross over its dispatache the power exeacte on each speaker ??? or or 125watts rms recomended is real power handling crossover is dispatch the power exactly 3 speaker ??? 😕 50watts rms is PP4-T and PPS4-8 is 125rms ...is two 250rms + 50= 300rms...

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  5 років тому

      No, you don't need to bridge your amplifier. Just use the instructions that came with the crossover since the amplifier "sees" impedances based upon their crossover frequency "ranges". In other words, the amplifier will "see" a 2-ohm load in the MIDRANGE frequency range (two 4-ohm wired in parallel creates a 2-ohm load), and will "see" a 4-ohm load for the TWEETER frequency range (one 4-ohm speaker creates a 4-ohm load).

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  5 років тому

      The Punch 300X2 is rated to produce 100 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm or 150 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm.
      For the Midrange, you will be connecting two PPS4-8 operating at 80Hz to 4kHz. The midrange will present a 2-ohm load on the amplifier between 80Hz to 4kHz, therefore producing 150 watts, divided between the two midrange, so each midrange will receive 75W each.
      For the Tweeter, you'll be connecting one PP4-T to the crossover operating at 4kHz to 20kHz. The tweeter will present a 4-ohm load on the amplifier between 4kHz to 20kHz, therefore producing 100 watts to the tweeter. A little high, so you'll want to be careful how hard you drive them.

    • @rockfordfosgate

      You're only talking about a 1.5 dB difference between the 4-ohm and 8-ohm. The ear can least detect a 1dB difference when side-by-side. Don't get caught up in specifications. Use the 8-ohm versions so you can power them with adequate power while optimizing the amplifier impedance.

      Look at the "Sensitivity" or "SPL" of the 6x9 speakers and compare that with the Punch Pro models. Each +1 dB indicates a minimal detection of loudness, +3 dB is a considerable loudness increase, and +10 dB is double the loudness.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  6 років тому

      Yes, you can. Wiring two 8-ohm speakers in parallel will create a 4-ohm load for the amplifier. I'm assuming you'll be running two for the left side and two for the right side? If so, you can then bridge the front/rear LEFT channel to a pair of Punch Pro speakers, then bridge the front/rear RIGHT channel to the other pair.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  4 роки тому

      It's a lot of power and literally a 1,000 watt RMS amplifier. This amp will produce 250 Watts RMS x 4 @ 2-Ohm. So we assume you're wiring 2x 6.5" Punch Pro 4-ohm drivers and wiring them in parallel to create a 2-ohm load per channel. One tweeter will run off each channel, and will receive 250 Watts x 4 @ 4-Ohm, which will over-power the tweeters. We'd recommend stepping up to a 12dB crossover instead of the supplied 6dB.

      Most likely not. Keep in mind, the Punch Pro speakers have a very high sensitivity rating, so you'll want to compare the SPL (1watt / 1meter) rating between the midrange and tweeters. If there is more than a 3 dB difference, you'll likely want to use matching Punch Pro tweeters. This is because your midrange will be loud, but your tweeters will be struggling to keep up.
