Fun is the most important thing! Sometimes "fun" can include hard work, stress, and exhaustion, but working to build creativity and try new things is always important.
The Enthusiasm Project SOOO TRUE!!!!
I dont know why that your channel hasn't gone bigger yet, nice content as always :D
Dude fantastic solid video!! Also I'm jealous of your slider... Someday I'll pick one up.
I love that thing. B&H had a sale on the motorized head the other day, but I missed it 😕
B-Roll is something I really struggle with so found this super useful! :D
It really can be a ton of fun- best of luck with yours!
Notifications turned on and I'm always wowed! Good job as always.

Just found you - and I'm so glad I did. To the point, really helpful and practical AND easy and entertaining to watch. Nice one!
Wow! This is literally everything I’d hope to hear about a video! Thank you 🙏
I really appreciate and enjoy your videos, because, they keep me motivated and in-the-know. I love the appearance of them, too; very pleasing to the eye.
Thanks for letting me know- these things are always the goal when making videos, but sometimes I don’t know if it’s working the way I want it to 😬
@@tombuck I know that feeling, but you're doing a great job. UA-cam makes us feel that way. Just, keep pushing forward. I'm watching your Canon Mirrorless Camera Showdown, now. It came on after this video.
Been bingeing your videos. They’re all great and full of awesome tips. Thanks 🤜🏼🤛🏼

That's so great to hear! It's especially cool to know it's been helpful for another teacher.
Great video.
Super good, thanks.
Great stuff minus the bumblebee b-roll joke haha, enjoyed :-)
I apologize for the joke.
@@tombuck Haha, Bless ~
There is so much valuable information in this video I'll be watching it multiple times. Also you making face shields for healthcare workers...you don't just make awesome content but your an awesome person. Thank you!
Thank you that was a fun project- it was terrifying when PPE was impossible to find for workers.
@@tombuck It was terrifying, I'm a healthcare worker. Thank you!

Great video..always trying to improve my broll..
You’re a great teacher.
Thank you! I try to explain things as clearly as possible.
I’m a professional photographer and I thought your lighting advice was spot on.
Such high quality videography!
Always great content, great lighting... I always enjoy visual appealing footages... well done. I'm upgrading my lighting too on my channel
Thank you, I really appreciate this!
Awesome of you making face shields for doctors and nurses at the time when there was a shortage. How many were you able to make with your 3D printer? Amazing, man. Kudos for thinking of others.
I was able to ship out a few hundred total. I ran out of the plastic sheets for a while, but fortunately it was right around the time that more supplies were becoming available.
Been watching your channel all day man. Really good work. I've been looking for ways to level up my production on my own channel and this stuff has been very inspiring. Keep it up!! 🔥💯
I'm so glad to hear that, thank you! Looks like you're right on the verge of 20K! Congrats!
Tom Buck thanks man! I'm excited for this. Never thought I'd be here. So I'm glad to have found your channel because I believe your work will inspire me in my new growth 🙏🏾💯💯
LOVING THE BROLL 👌🏽🎥
I think this might be my favorite TEP video so far. Thanks! Would love to see some outdoor B-Roll tips!
That’s a great idea!
Very professional advice. This is something I really need to improve on! My favorite tip is moving the light around. It’s amazing how much different that makes it look.
Lighting makes such a massive difference!
cool bts video👌🏻I also like to play with lighting when I shoot my broll shots😁
So much fun!
Great tutorial again Tom, especially the part about camera angels. i knew this from before, but its very easy at least for me to forget it in the process when shooting.
and thanks for the tips about using small lights to spice up the footage definitely going to try this on my next video.
Can’t wait to see what you do with it! Gotta love playing with lights 💡
Excellent and informative video as usual. Excited to apply these tips to our broll of our food shots for our next mukbang!
Dramatic b roll for dramatic dishes!
Plus this is like the best thumbnail ever
I’m really proud of this one. I don’t know what I did, but it came out great.
You have no idea how much your channels helped me .. I’ve watched a lot of you videos these last few weeks . I really needed to hear a lot of what you’re talking about . I really need to step things up with b-roll . My videos are boring as hell .. 😂 . Thank you for posting .
I’m really happy that they’re are helpful! Good luck with your videos 💪
I love so much filming products and definitmy gonna use some tips ... and need a few fo those little lights ^^
The little lights are great! I recently got the Aputure MC to add to these and it's incredible- I highly recommend it.
@@tombuck I'll take a deeper look into this ! Need to watch your video about the edelkrone too ! Got an eyes on this brand for a while now ! Thanks !
Just started following you .. very helpful great review /tutorial on this . 👌
Thanks! I’m really glad you’re here and finding the videos useful!
Awesome content!!! how come this has few subscribers??
Jokes aside... I like your channel.
I really appreciate that, and that's no joke!
Another benger video! Just a reminder to keep the energy up to keep the viewer engaged! A few times I felt like you were really forcing yourself through this one. Nonetheless, excellent production quality and awesome advice.
Take care!
THIS is so good. I loved how you jumped around in your space as well man.
Im gonna apply this to my own videos for sure 👌.
Edit: Love that you're rocking this video barefoot 👊
Shoes on carpet are a big no for me 😬
Nicely done Tom. Still learning to make better B-roll in my videos. This Helped 😎
Very glad it helped! It’s all just practice 👍
Another winner! Thanks for these helpful and inspiring tips. My favorite one - have fun, and it will translate to entire video. A question - when using the slider near the beginning of the demo, it looks like your manually panning the head during the slide, correct? Also, are you, at times, just manually moving the slider, rather than using the motor/app? Cheers!
I am manually panning the head, but the slider uses its own motor. I used to use a manual slider, but this one is much easier. I'd like to get the motorized head to go with it one day.
@@tombuck Cool! That makes sense... B&H had the pan head on sale last week, as well as a bundle with slider. Almost pulled the trigger. Figure I should use my stimulus check for mortgage rather than gear. Haha!
When you're going over the shot, 7 minutes and such... what wide angle are you using, and with which camera? Shot looks great. Thanks, Tom!
The wide angle is the Canon 16-35 f4 on the EOS R 👍
With all these dad jokes, is a big announcement coming soon? Really enjoyed this video.
Well, we are getting a puppy soon, if that counts?
Thanks for sharing your techniques! My question is, where does one get that table? (the wood one) 😀
It's a Husky work bench from Home Depot! I have several of them because they're super sturdy and look great.
Tons of information - thanks! I am considering the cheap amazon lights to add colors. is there some flicker issues at 1080 24fps?
There aren't any flicker issues at 24 fps with 1/50 shutter speed, but pretty much anything else will add in some flicker.
Good day. New subscriber here. Greetings from the Philippines.. Im so happy that i found this channel and specifically this video tutorial.. Dont know why but it makes me 😢 a little because cant find this kind of tutorial and watching it, from the very start up to ending a b-roll or showcasing a product..
Im planning to do my first unboxing/showcasing video of a gaming peripherals and this is really makes my questions and prayers answered..
And hoping i can do it even using just a smartphone and cheap instruments..
But can i ask one more help, how can i showcase many products? Like mouse, headset, keyboard, etc..
Thanks much for this and more power to your yt channel.. You deserve million..
Thanks for the kind words! Sounds like you're ready to get started on your own! It doesn't matter if you don't have fancy equipment at first, just do the best you can with what you've got. Spend a lot of time practicing, and each video will come out better than the one before it.
As for how to showcase many products, I've found that "flat lays" are pretty effective. Find a nice big surface like a table or floor, arrange the items in a neat layout, and position your camera above them facing down. There are tripods/stands that will help with overhead shots, but I've also had friends just tape their phones to the ceiling and it looked great 🤷🏻♂️
@@tombuck whoooooow.. Thanks much for the reply. Didnt expect it to have an answer on my question.. I really appreciate it Sir.. 😊😊😊
I'll try my very best on my first video and do what you've said.. And one more thing, in showcasing a product, does it need to do a b-roll for each item? And how long should the video? Im really sorry for asking too many questions.. Not have the chance to ask from an expert and thanks that you've given me a chance about it..
Thanks for the video - you have an amazing lighting when sitting behind your desk. Is it because of to the lamps you have (which ones are used)? Or post production? You can see the differences when compared with a shot when you stand (4:00) and have a desk behind where lighting is much worse.
And with the wideo preview - you have the most eye-cathing images - stunning blue colours and lighting. What is the trick? :)
Thank you! The main key light is a FalconEyes flexible LED panel. I actually just made a video about it yesterday. Then I have a small Dracast light on my desk bouncing off the window blinds to act as a fill.
For the main shot, I just like bright colors, so I have several RGB lights in the room to add color, and then I angle my key light in a way where it fills most of the space. I also recently did a “studio tour” video that explains all this.
@@tombuck Thanks, I will watch the tour.
@@tombuck would you record a video about color grading you do in fcpx with before and after comparison? Your colours really stand out! I would love to learn how you achieved this effect.
6:48 "I used camcorders for way too long." You and me, both.
Ironically, I just connected my 8mm Sony Handycam to my ATEM Mini 😁
First!
Gerald I done would approve of your filament color 🤣 great video.....B-Roll is super crucial to keeping the attention. Can’t be lazy sometime I am and it never ends well. Good job!
Laziness can definitely be tough to overcome. Sometimes “good enough” just isn’t quite good enough. And purple is a really underrated color.
I was looking through your tripods. What's the benefit of using such expensive tripods? is it okay if I went with those cheap amazon basics tripods?
Ultimately it comes down to whether or not you want to trust thousands of dollars of camera gear to a $20 tripod. The Amazon Basics tripods are actually pretty good for the price, but they aren't nearly as sturdy and they don't let you get smooth movements for video either. My gear is actually on the cheaper side when it comes to camera supports. I purchased my main tripod in 2012 and it's still going strong 👍
I was this many days old when I found out his name was Tom Buck.
Ha! There’s definitely a reason I started adding it to the beginning of my videos 😁
