A change i found and made is the 7pin connector cable that hangs under the tour pack for the rear passenger, i tuck into the hole in the frame that is under the gas tank (frame spine) that way it doest pinch in the saddlebag lid and is super easy to pull out when needed and re-shove in the frame when not.
@@Renowagner Do you still get comment alerts on your video? I'm newer to the whole add comments to these how to videos. Most I watch are older due to my needs are for a 2007 Electra Glide Standard.
Just picked up my new used. 2006 ultra classic and I was looking for a way on how to do this exact setup. I'm in Laval hope to meet some day Thnak you for all the help you have suplyed us "me" on this project
THANK YOU. I have had alot of questions about doing a removable trunk on my own flhtcui. And there isnt alot of info online about this. I know what i need now. :)
Hey Chris, if you run into a snag or have a question, feel free to ask. Make sure you put blue locktite on all your screws. Something i did not show in video is that i cut the "wings" off the liscence plate bracket as the bottom of your tourpack will hit it when you have it on. I left the little hook so you can still attach the spring that puts tention on your cable for the rear passenger head set (7 pin connector). Best of luck.
Great work very Cool! I have a 08 Ultra Classic. I don't want to run a solo seat but would like to take off the tour pack and put on a detachable sissy bar. Do I need a different kit to cover the sissy bar and the tour pack conversion?? Also if you just unplug your tour pack and tuck under the seat. Does your rear brake light and turn signals still Work ok??? And the running light at the bottom of the fender?? Thanks
Damn...that is hella involved...you thi k they would have made it with all the connectors tucked away IN the tour pack under the liner where you can feed it through a grommet...you made their shit design more user friendly...great job
Did you use any spacers on your mounting bolts to the mounting rack? I see your bolts go through the ribs like the Tourpak I am trying to mount. The original rack mounted on the inside of the the ribs on the flat surface, the new rack sits on the ribs (or what I think is the area the wires sit under the plate. My other issue is how far forward or back do I mount it so it gives my passenger plenty of space and not feel cramped when riding.
Hey Mike. Yes i used some of the spacers provided in the kit. Basically, you need to use whatever centers the 4 point conectors to line up to the tourPack locks. I'd tell you exactly but dont have that bike anymore. Hope that helps. I believe if you look at video closely you can see what i used. I think the thick one with the front one and thin one where the locks latch on to.
Hey Splat, Glad i could help you out if i did. @@Renowagner thanks again. Yeah I have a road king that I love, but I want the full faring. I found an ultra classic for good money, but I wont use the tour pack. You've done exactly what I want to do. Now I have an "instruction manual" to get it done!
Great work Erik - I'm ordering stuff today to work on my dad's 2004 FLHCTUI. Where was the license plate on model? I feel like his is on the actual mounting hardware for the tourpak and wondering where you relocated yours. I'm looking forward to having some fun with this. I believe these modifications are going to lead down a slippery slope of tinkering.
HeyTimmy, easiest way i found was to actually open tour pack lid, that way, the bacrest pillow is out of the way and easier to get a screwdriver in there. Hope that helps.
hey, if you watch my video, that’s exactly what i did. you simply have to buy the quick detach rack for your year(mine is a 2005) and the 4 point quick detach. i bought mine as a kit all together.
Hey Doug. All the wire connections were soldered inside the rear speaker pods, the relocated connector under the seat as well as both ends of the "trailer" quick disconnect for the rear lights. Basically, any 2 wires twisted together were soldered and shrink tube heated over them. I just don't think that twisting the wires together and putting electrical tape is good enough, especially if you upgraded to a bigger amp and higher wattage speakers later on. It just made sense to do it while everything was there and open. Hope that answered your question. Erik
Hey Ruben. was years ago but bought it on e-bay if i remember correctly. from China but was good quality was pretty good and tried to use as much as the original HD fasteners.
Hey Ragtop91, I've been lucky as have fairly low miles on mine but it's definately a common problem, especially older models. Not something i would tackle myself as you need tentionning tools to remove the worn out shoes. The whole Cam assembly has to come out as far as i know. Good luck, wish i could help.
Hey there! I have accumulated the parts and I am just about to do the exact same thing on my new to me 2005 ultra! Like you - I am Canadian but in snowy Ontario...
Hey Kurt, good luck with the conversion. Use blue lock tight on all your fasners if i could have added that to my video, i would have. Let me know how it went, or if you have any issues. Still too much snow to ride here yet....
Erik, went like a charm. Did everything you did except I reused original light connector instead of a trailer connector. Made that wire longer (soldered extension) and voila! Rode without tour pack all 2018...J
Hey Robert, i ordered mine from China. The kit came with the the left and right side triangle chrome tubes, spacers and gromets. It also came with the frame to interchange onto the actual tourpack. Will try and see if i can find you the link. They sent way too many bolts and washers. Relatively easy to change, the electrical was more challenging but hey, it was winter...
Hey Mr Erik I just came across your removal video and I have a 07 Ultra Classic will this part fit my bike without any modifications? I put in mine bike info and it said it wasn't compatiable, then I put in your year bike and it said the same thing.
took me a minute to understand the speaker wire reroute, great idea
I still dont understand. Thats like the main issue im dealin with. And the trailer wire was ingenious
This is a good description. I am just starting my conversion and I was wondering what to do with all the extra wires. thanks for the video
Glad you could find it helpful. Feel free to contact me if uou run into issues.

Thx for the info. I have a kit from Harley but haven’t installed it yet. Mine also is an 05. Great tips on reversing the wires. Dean
