This sonata helps me. Two years ago, I met this Sonata No. 3. While I was at home, I came across a lot of music. It was this song that impressed me. I felt that the four movements were facing something, and I felt Chopin's hope for tomorrow. It's very nice music. I want to play this music someday.
This was always my favorite movement of this Sonata. I had high expectations from past recordings, yet you still surpassed my expectations. Beautiful work as always, how about the full Sonata?
Mmm...once again, tastefully played young man! Just like your 4th Ballade last year, your timing and tempi are, for me, absolutely spot on. It's easy for this piece to run away, out of sight, on it's own but you manage to contain it. More than that it has cohesion, passion, virtuosity, but does not become a flurry of pedal infested bravado many are guilty of. It has, for want of a better phrase, 'real musicality' for me. When the mad 'presto at all costs' pace is taken off of quick music it does often reveal an inner harmonic 'timing' that can be lost in fistfuls of meaningless virtuosity. Your formidable technical gift allows you to give that to us. One can hear everything easily, phrasing, dynamic range, rubato, when you are on the keys. Well done. Really I mean it - well done.
