I remember this boat in the 1984 Grands Prix at Victoria Docks, London. Lucky enough to be there with the EPBSC crew (many ex-F1 racers from the 70's with us, and "rising star" Andy Elliot, when he was still in baby mono hulls), and met most of the pilots. Great times! I wish my family was still involved in the sport.
I remember being a passenger in his (Guy's) troycraft 15 years ago holding on for my life. I now blame him for my boat/ speed addiction. I'd throw him the keys to my boat any day of the week.
Haven't heard one of those F1 V8's shriek by for roughly 20 years or so. Horny, brassy howl that always made my neck hair vertical. I ported them for Gary and Les @ 2nd Effort from '86 through '88. Makes me curious when that one was done and who owned it before him. Had that Renato hung & strung pretty damn nicely in the chop! Very enjoyable... thanks for the flood of great memories.
Sweet, no capsule and that perfectly rippled water. I think omc is junk but still stop to watch a fast boat. Anybody who hasnt been over 100 in an out board should try it. Nothing like flying down the river on a monday when its slick as glass and screaming at 90 for 10 or 20 miles at a time. Smoking a few jetboats and fools on waverunners that actually think that 70 on thier speedo is correct. Thats livin.
You don’t know OMC, they dominated back in the day, those old 80,90s 200, 225s etc were awesome and dependable, they were not junk, wanna talk junk then talk Force outboards or Chrysler! I own a 150 Optimax on my Ranger only owner of this boat since new, and I own a Bullet with a ProXS 225 with sportsmaster 85mph gps, it no fun when everything is Mercury, and that’s all I own but I still love Evinrude and Johnson, it’s very sad they went under! It’s all ways fun when you have different brands out their racing and having fun! You act like these motors were generic, they were my favorite, my Bullet had this Awesome 225 on it when I bought it, I like all. Of them but Force LOL imagine putting a 150hp Force on your Bullet or Allison? The only boat that goes with Force is Bayliner perfect match! 😂
@@jimmycline4778 hey couldn't agree more! i really appreciate the engineering of all of em', even the Suzukis which were way ahead of their time with their ignitions with sensors in the 80's , but live and breathe OMC stuff. Nothing like it... endless projects and fun stuff to do, all while getting paid for it !
used to watch this boat race in the 80s mega stuff nice to see it still running
I can tell by the sound that the camera boat is also a V8 Evinrude or Johnson!

Awesome!
Those aren't quite so hard to find in the states...the 1994 V8 evinrude can be modded from 300 to 425hp pretty easily. Wicked motors!
f1 that shit is amazing
AmaZIMG UNCLE ROD
The photographers boat is powered by a second effort prepped omc v8

V8 omc still has the world record outboard period
One v8 ran a recorded apm at 176 mph
Sad they are not still made
