Had the pleasure to race OPC tunnel boats in the 70's-90's . I ran only Seebold tunnel boats with Mercury motors. Seebold were the best built. Started racing Hyrostream V hulls for factory here in Minnesota. Very fond memories of TCPBA our local club.
I was 19 those days and watched together with my dad, who took me one day to the 3 hours of Amsterdam. From that moment I was hooked and that’s why is great to see those pictures back. Cees van der Velden was/is my all time speedboat hero.😊
I grew up with Tom Percival and his wonderful family, we were at many of the races in the UK and abroad, I have not seen any video's of his racing but found this by accident, once I stopped crying of happiness of seeing this amazing person doing what he did best, the tears were changed to sadness as he sadly died a couple of years later in a race accident in Belgium. My heart goes out to Gilly, Katie and Guy, lots of love and hugs sent your way. Karen Ruben xxxxxx
i believe that boat ended up in the OMC factory in Waukegan il. i saw what i think was this exact hull and motor at one time like 1998...when i went to pick up a special order motor for our marina. it made sense as it was still in perfect shape "Aluminum"....not a rotten old pc of junk as most 80's wood tunnels would have been 20 yrs later....love to know where it went........
if you find any time to transfer it to digital media that would be incredible ....i would be interested in some orig old school photos also.... craigbielsky@gmail.com
Nice one Phil - that was when the sport of circuit powerboat pacing could outdo Monaco for nailbiting thrills, both behind the wheel and as a spectator.
nice 1 phil used to watch these at chasewater staffordshire many years ago....there is web site called `fast on water` dedicated to powerboat racing....
Mr Bill Seebold is by far the best driver and boat builder in world.

This was perhaps the greatest display of driving ever put on in a boat, Mr. Seebold was and is simply the best to ever pilot a racing tunnel.
I was there, on the docks near Great Britain. A great day.
I was there watching aged 12.Great memories. Amazing sound from those engines.

John Hill. What a man.
i used to photgraph these spectacular races every year in the 80's and still have some of the images on 35mm film/transparency.
if you find any time to transfer it to digital media that would be incredible ....i would be interested in some orig old school photos also....

I remember this race well as being part of the rescue team on the water as a diver to get in the water when necessary

Renato Molinari 👏🙌💯🏆🇮🇹👏
Holy sh!t that crash was brutal!!!!
And thats exactly why they banned it!
i jumped out of my chair when i saw that ...dude literally flew like a human cannonball and walked away ....
@@davehyper7835not till 1990 though
i really have no idea ( with much safer boats etc now ) why they do not bring this back to Bristol to help the local economy.
Still far too unsafe and with Bristol being the Green Capital you won’t be seeing any type of fuel burning motorsport there.
There was more danger from Weils disease that was in the docks, than from the racing. No one would go in water then...
That ain't Tennessee!
Where's rowdem mead and the Baltic wharf gone
