    When the melts at the higher elevations check out goose lake. Primitive camping beautiful landscape. There’s also an ice cave just outside the town of trout lake. I lived in Carson for 19 years and loved it

      The ice caves have been on my list! Excited to go check em out. Thanks for the suggestions. We went and checked out backwoods brewing in Carson, it was packed to the brim but seems like a lovely place for a beer on the lawn out back

    Hello again! Nice bird book! I have a couple myself... ;-) Always love camping by a pretty little creek! Gorgeous waterfall! Love the peaceful nature shots... We are Terrys! LOL Nice to know another one of us Terris! That is weird about the vibrations... Another fun real adventure! 💙Terry and Terri

    Nice little spot by a creek. The rumbles may have not just been a troll, could be a troll and a Sasquatch bowling in a cave. I think the PNW Mythical Creatures Bowling Tournament is in June so they may have been practicing.

    The rumbles are most likely grouse lol. Those things make some wild rumbling with their wings. Messes with your head.

    Dang, that's one of the most beautiful waterfalls I've seen in a long time! Christine and I really need to get down that way this summer. Looks like we have the same little Ryobi electric chainsaw. 50% of the time it gets the job done every single time. Really enjoyed this video!

    Nice video. Very intriguing mystery with the rumbles. If they simmered down overnight I might lean towards trucks on the nearby road as the cause. I lean away from the St Helens explanation as it seems too frequent and regular. Probably troll. (Make sure to honk going over cattle guards to escape their angry vengeance.) Hope some wise local or geology whiz can clue us all in. Keep camping , you 3! 🏕️🚙🍀

    Mt St Helens has earthquakes all the time, you couldn't have been far from there... (or it's obviously an underground Troll) Fun times, now I'm suffering from a strong desire to unplug & GO Camping. Must. Go. Camping. Maybe Gifford Pinchot, only been there once hmmm. My hammock is feeling lonely...

    • @ScaleofTwo
      @ScaleofTwo  Рік тому +3

      That was certainly a thought that crossed my mind…we weren’t terribly far from st Helens. A note that I forgot to put in the video: there was a pretty big landslide near st Helens the day we left. I was curious if it may have been some land movement.

    If you had to clear rocks from road you drove in on the Dat before after feeling and hearing low level humming. You probably experienced tremmors that made those rocks roll down onto the road

    Ha! From Wikipedia, according to the man himself, it is pronounced, GIFF-urd PIN-cho. American forester and politician. I feel smug in knowing I have said it right my whole life - and never even knew it. Now, if someone can clarify the name of Lake Keechelus, I'd appreciate. When I was kid in Seattle in the 60's, there was a faimly across the street with a white dad and a Yakima mom. They always pronounced it
    k'CHELL-iss, which means, "not much fish". The nearby Lake Kachess, where theyhad a cabin, they pronounced k'CHESS means "A lot of fish"

    The Gifford Pinchot NF is amazing! There’s so much beautiful land to cover out there. Did you notice what the current elevation was were the snow was at?

    • @ScaleofTwo
      @ScaleofTwo  Рік тому +1

      We were at about 1350 here…and the map showed the snow line not too much farther up (maybe 2k or so?) but honestly I think it’s melted a lot faster than what the map showed. We saw no signs of snow

  • @TheKPDX
    @TheKPDX Рік тому +1

    My differential on the Troll is land movement of some sort. The road seems unlikely unless there was heavy equipment being brought into the woods for some project & you likely would have heard the actual trucks if you could feel them. Land movement like that before a slide like in Oso, WA is a terrifying thought but the topography didn't look right for it. I'd lean towards seismic activity. We get small earthquakes with some regularity just here on the Eastside of Seattle, being up near St. Helens that seems likely. I think you can access their seismograph - it might be interesting to see if there was anything going on at the date & time your were there.

    • @roselaporte8027

      I'm a little late to the post, but I agree it is seismic activity. When you said it felt like someone moving furniture that is exactly what the 2001 Nisqually earthquake felt like to me when I lived in North Seattle. @@ScaleofTwo

    • @TheJudeP

      It’s Friday May 26th. Although there was no seismic activity that was reported isn’t it interesting that there was a major slide on route 504 that washed out an 85 ft bridge on May 24th and some were stranded at Johnston Ridge Observatory. Perhaps you were experiencing the shifting of rock as a consequence of snow melt. Spring time problem for snowy areas.

    Between the misplaced syllable pronunciations, morgan wallen (or alan jackson) music, describing fires with sex acts and using the chainsaw without eye pro-this was a massacre of a video. However, the Subaru dog commercial was pretty good.
