Hi John! Great job troubleshooting and repairing the relief valve! You thought it through and you explained it very well. Glad you were able to get a replacement part! Thanks for sharing!
I'm guessing that was a known problem with AGCO, since they changed the part. I'll store this away in my memory bank, but I hope I never need to recall it! Thanks for sharing, John. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you Rick! I hope you don't need to do this repair ethier. I think you are right. They change it in the same year I bought mine. Have a great 4th weekend! See ya in the next one!
Glad you were able to get this repaired John. Thanks for sharing your experiences, it is a great help to us GC owners. Happy Fourth to your family, may God bless America.
Mike and I really enjoy the variety on your channel. Another very helpful video. Thanks, John! You and your family have an awesome 4th of July weekend! It's Canada Day weekend here.
Hey John nice find on the issue ! I was going to send this to my brother , But his is a 2021 I believe ! But He said he is dreading taking his backhoe off something about He's got to do the 100 hour service on it . I'm glad to see that You could get the parts from AGCO ! & she is back up & going , My M-F 1526 & the M-F 50 are still getting the job done , But with fuel prices so high on fuel I'm limiting there use ! But I did get some seat time today on the 50 doing some grading . Take care & have a great fourth , & thanks for the video.
Thank you Venice! I'm glad you got some seat time on the 50. I hear you on the pricy fuel. Make it hard to do anything. Have a great 4th weekend! See ya!
Hello John, I hope you get a chance to see this. I have the sane 1710 TLB you have. This very week it is in at the dealer and the reason why is it has been vibrating badly for a while now, the ROPS shakes and the throttle arm vibrates. The dealer says they have checked it through and found no problem. Now I just found and watched your “ Rough Running “ Video and I want to say a huge Thank You because I think you have given me my problem and the fix. It makes perfect sense, lower power, vibration especially at lower RPM and I have black smoke and soot at my exhaust exit. I am looking forward to getting it home and doing the fuel flush and service and start running an additive. This tractor has been a great work horse even with multiple minor things that have gone wrong. Mostly loose bolts linkages, levers and hoses. I did have one Back hoe hose just start leaking and it has not been in use for almost a year now. Your videos have been nothing short of valuable information so I Thank You very much and hope you will continue to post any videos you can at your convenience.
Thank you Wire Feed, for watching and the very kind comment! Over the years I also have had a few minor issues with the Massy that I have put on videos for other but at the end of the day. It is a true work horse as you said. I have learned that the three cylinder motor is very sensitive to moisture, trash, and the fuel filter needs to be changed on a regular bases. I hope you get your Massey running good again. I have a lot of video to edit but having the time is hard to find right now. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
you got lucky could have been a lot worse. glad it was a fairly simple fix although most people would be afraid to even venture into that component of the machine. I had no doubt in my mind that you would handle it just fine. you are like me just geared that way. hope all is going well.
It does sound like they cracked it when it was made. Great job find the issue and getting the repair done. Nothing worse than having a bit of equipment broken and not being able to move it
How's she goin'? The smallest of parts can stop you dead in your tracks eh!! And what a time for it to happen, when Agco parts were having trouble. Glad you were able to finally get the part and make the repair though. Happy 4th of July buddy and take 'er easy!!!
Thank you Mike! I got scared for a bit wondering how long was it going to take to get it back up and working. lol Happy Canada Day to you! Have fun this weekend! See ya!
That was interesting. I'm surprised that relief valve was serviceable. Was the insert supposed to be adjusted or simply seated in place? I've had my GC 1710 for a little over 3 years now, and the failure I've had was the same thing you had a while back. The backhoe spool handle bracket broke. It was covered under warranty, so I didn't really have to do anything. I've only put 170-180 hours on it, so it doesn't see much action, not like my bigger tractors.
Thank you William! I was surprised that it could be fixed. Most stuff nowdays is replace only. It did need to be adjusted but the hydraulic shop sit it for me. You can get the relief valve from AGCO and just change. Have a great holiday weekend! See ya in the next one!
Hey John what up! So looks like a set screw, most likely metric thread. In a pinch, you could probably find a match at a hardware store if Agco was still a no-go. So was that a relief valve then? Did you set the screw to about the same height as the broken screw and just go with that? Good vid man, that's handy info...gonna keep an eye on mine. Have a great weekend and happy 4th, buddy!
Thank you P.A! The hydraulic shop sit it close to the original thread depth and I put it back on to bring the Massey to them. They put gauges on it and sit it according to the specs the center valve had listed. I do not know if it is a relief or flow but I do know you have to have it to put that tractor in the job. Lol. Have a Happy 4th weekend! See ya in the next one!
That is good info right there and i am using your videos as a how to log just to have something to look back on as i am almost out of warranty on my Massey . On a side note have you had and of your fenders develop a crack if so did the dealer cover the repair?
Thank you Jerry! No. I have not had that problem. I do know of a lot of people that has had it happen and they got it fixed under warranty. I hope your dealer can get your fixed. Have a great 4th weekend! See ya!
Thank you Gary, for watching and the comment! I'm sorry it cost you so much to get your Massey back up and working. I hope you have no more issue with it. Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!
Have you had any issues with the engine driveshaft on your GC? I’ve had to replace a failed U-joint on it about every 300 hours, along with failed turnbuckle seals on the front axle. I’m going to trade it for a 1725 now.
Thank you Douglas, for watching and the comment! Sorry to hear that you are having so many issues with yours. I have had no problem with the U-joints or the seals. I hope the 1724 does better for you. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
Sometimes these things are hard to find glad you got it fixed!
Thanks MTRUNK! Have a great weekend! See ya in the next one!

Great video as always John! Glad you were able to get her back up and going! Was Massey able to get you the part or did you find it at a hydro shop?

Huh… that is an odd failure. Be sure to check the hydraulic relief pressure with a pressure gauge now that you’ve got it back together. 🤔
Thank you D.W! The hydraulic shop sit it for me. We are good to go. lol. Have a great 4th weekend! See ya in the next one!

@@LouisianaTractorworks Been good. Lots of time in the wood shop.
You should get a new rubber seal while you are going to be replacing the other thing.
