I had a JD 3rd function w/o detent valve installed on my 2025R almost a year ago. I use it for my hydraulic top link for my blade and rake. I went to use it a month ago or so and found that it was frozen. After bumping it free I found that it wouldn't return to the center off without help. I removed the rubber boot and sprayed the spool valve shaft with some lube and it freed up fine. The tractor is stored inside but does see use in inclement weather. This and the SCV are now on my radar. Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks, Mike. Great timing on this video. I had a problem with too much slop in my joystick, but wasn't sure what I could do about it. Opened it up and found plenty of grease, but the screws on the pivot bracket were very loose. Cleaned, applied a drop of locktite and retightened. All is good now.

Broke my rod ends clean off at about 100 hours. Plenty of grease in there, they actually worked loose and then bound up and broke. Keeping them tight is important

I have used wd-40 products my entire life. when I was a kid my pa was always using it and it is surly an amazing product. you could have probably gotten away with like a 30 second ad to sponsor it but I really enjoyed the video and respect the work put in to show what wd-40 can do. You get a like and sub from me :)

I had an issue where the bucket would not lift and would only slowly go down. Found out the three point hitch lift lever calibration was off. It was still "lifting" the three point hitch even after the hitch was completely up. Basically was causing the hydrologic pump to be running continuously and over working the system. Lower the three point lever a fraction of an inch, and the front loader would instantly work properly.

Same here, I noticed on my new Kubota LX2610 that putting the stick in the fully up position causes the system to be taxed, greatly reducing loader function speeds.

My Massey Ferguson sub compact suffered a broken linkage bolt after only about 20 hrs. I tried to fix it but founde that the bolt was threaded at both ends with one end having reverse threads. My dealer sent me the part and I was back in operation in 10 mins. But now I will keep them lubricated. Thanks for the tip Mike

My kioti loader wants to dump instead of curl when I am lowering it. I am trying to maintain level. In other words, although I am lowering and curling, it briefly dumps several degrees before curling like I want. I contacted my dealer and it seems I didn’t have my RPMs high enough. It seems to work correctly at high revs.

The screws that hold the joystick valve assembly to the mounting bracket, on my Kioti DK4510, have backed out a couple of times. The joystick still worked, but was very sloppy. Some blue Loctite seems to have fixed the problem. South Mississippi, LOTS of rain!

I had the actual metal handle on my joystick break off due to a poor factory weld. Check for hairline cracks or weak or broken welds on the joystick itself and where it attaches to the valve. It sure sucks to have one break in the middle of a job. Joysticks don't require a lot of force to operate and that's why they're often not built very strong. It's amazing the things that you might find under all that gunk that builds up around parts of your tractor. Always clean and inspect.

Had a very similar issue on my late model tractor. Joystick simply "broke" with very little pressure applied to it. They just don't make them like they used to. My 1979 Ford tractor operates just fine. She's certainly not "pretty" but she does the work.

I have a backhoe on my Kubota L3901. Over the course of about 30 hours of use, I was noticing the controls getting less responsive and not very smooth. I took the cover off of the control box and found that many of the screws/nuts securing the linkage plates were loose, and one set had fallen out completely. The unit was brand new, so I chalked this up to poor quality control. I tightened everything up and the lever actions worked much better. Like Orange, I hadn't thought to lubricate those linkage connections, but I'll add that to my maintenance list now.

I have been using Rust Check green can, and red can where water may collect. However, it is hard to find. I have used WD gel and am happy with it. PROBLEM with my JD 2305, I bought it new in 06 and up to 2020 never had any issues but that all changed. I am not a big user 06-2020 only 482hrs. For the first 5, 6, years I would do a complete fluid and filter change every 6 months and grease all fittings every 8-10hrs. In 2020 I went to a local station to fill my 50gal fill tank as I've done before. But, this time when I filled the JD it stopped running, well, never working on diesel before, and after a day I found water, it seemed I bought 50gals of water. So, pulled the JD tank, and filter, purged to lines and started over Bingo running. Station was shut down to have new tanks installed but I and others were screwed. About 3 months later no start, change filter, no start, cleared lines, no start. called dealer, $4500 later runs great. mid-Nov that same year it stopped again, I left it until Mar of 21, replaced 3 diodes cleaned the fuse box, and after a few 30 - 45 seconds of crank, it started. It's still a little hard to start but starts but now the battery light is on, and tach doesn't work. Sorry for the long and confusing comment

  • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin

Definitely doesn't hurt to lubricate those points! I m thinking the people having issues, probably have cable controls. Direct mounted joysticks like yours are pretty much worry free, but cables get dust and dirt into them with time. With the amount of leverage on the stick, you don't notice it pushing or pulling harder, but you will definitely notice the slop caused by the wear. Any pivot point should be lubed once in a while.
10 hours seems a bit often, but that just means people will remember to do it every 40-50 hours.
For us, loaders are for using, tach hours are the loader hours.
    Good video Mike 👍

I have a 2021 JD 3025E with 200 (engine) hrs on it. At around 100 hours, I started having problems with the loader continuing in the down direction after I had let off the joy stick. When I inquired in a John Deere forum, I was enlightened that I needed to get under the boot and lube those joints.
After I had done so, the problem moderated, but did not disappear. There is no question in my mind that the problem is still lack of lubricant in those joints, so I do try and do this more often now. But the location of the joystick on my tractor is located forward, and quite close to the loader arm--it is quite a pain getting the boot securely back into place.
Next time I do this, I will take your advice and give the area as good a cleaning as the cramped space will allow before applying any more lube.
Thanks for all your advice. I enjoy your videos.

Like you Mike I've been using WD40 a long time. We used it at DOD (US Navy Ordnance Station Louisville) NOSL during reassembly of 'snubber boxes' in a Naval weapon system in the early 1980s. The moisture repellant properties were critical and WD40 wassprayed inside the box on electrical components just prior to installing the cover was a NAVY authorized/prescribed method. Uses are far reaching.

My Kioti NX5510 loader will stick when you raise the bucket - let off the joystick and the bucket continues up. It will only do it when the tractor has been worked for a couple of hours. I took it to the dealer but it never did it for them but they can’t get the tractor hot just driving around the parking lot. I inspected and lubed what I could but no help. The valve mounts under the tractor (buried deep) and cables go from the joystick to the valve. It seems very odd this only happens after the tractor is very warm. Any ideas?

My John Deere joy stick just stopped working. It looks like a tie rod end on a cheep riding mower. One of the ends just popped off. Used vice grips to operate the broken rod to lift the bucket. It took a lot more effort to operate the mechanism than I would have ever imagined. Looks like the seat, the shroud and who knows what else to get to the valve. Not a very heavy duty controller. Kinda Micky Mouse engineering in my opinion.

I just rebuilt that exactly valve unit. The internals are very simplr. 4 o rings to spool valves. I put all aluminum parts though wire wheel the used aluminum polish. Came out looking probably better then new. These older boomers had incredible engineering. The steel platform is made out of 10 gauge steel. The way they designed the trans with a solenoid using hydraulic power to shift hi/lo electronically. These tractors 20 years ago paved the way for what now is standard. I understand its a Japanese designed. Ive never had complaints from anything from Japan.

Not had any issues with my joysticks, however I did have an issue with the Hydostat pedal. It was sticking. Took
It to the dealership and they found a small rock had lodged itself in the joint. This was causing the tractor to continue traveling when the pedal was released. It would not stick and hold but it would bind causing the return to neutral to be slower than normal.

    • @qcan8468
      @qcan8468 3 роки тому

There are large number of possibilities like a bad key switch, a bad relay, chafed wires, chewed wires, etc. First start simple by checking all the controls with safety switches. Then check the switches themselves. There may be one on the seat, on the clutch pedal, in the gear selector, PTO switch, and so on. Some switches are normally open and some are normally closed. You can test them easily with an ohmmeter. To be safe disconnect the battery before any testing unless you are experienced.

With that in mind, My NH has a Tach issue. the gauge does not register the correct RPM. Would appreciate your thoughts and steps to address. Is it alright to ask what model tractor that is? I'm thinking about buying something and that one looks pretty darn nice.

It's a 2000 New Holland TC40D and they're excellent tractors, but that series is no longer offered.

I would highly recommend using a dry lube on those heim joints. Liquid/ oil based lubes attract dust and dirt and hold it which will wear out the heim joints and make them sloppy.
